982251 tn?1248781387 My daughter has been on concerta for 3 yrs now and she has facial tics. We took her off now and its been about 4 days, they seem to have gone away except once in away in awhile I see one but mostly 3\4 or more are gone. So I would like to know if they were becuse of the concerta and not touretts.
Avatar n tn I need to calm down, not via pills, i took 36mg of concerta a while back and it made me suicidal. Took lesser doses and it still happened. Hence me having this slight grudge against anything I stick down my throat that is designed to change me at all. Any advice, techniques etc would be much appreciated. Especially seeing as the only other technique I've heard that helps calm ADHD kids down is Weed.
Avatar n tn My 12 year old son is on Concerta 54 mg. He has been on Concerta in gradual doses since kindergarten. Now when the medication is wearing off, he becomes angry and agressive. I have never seen this side of him before. He used to become depressed so we restructured our evening activities to work around the depression. I am at a loss and am very concerned. Thank you in advance for any input on this question.
1031310 tn?1259857386 probably both are safe for adults (and reactions are rare). But for CHILDREN, concerta is probably the safer of the two UNLESS these sudden auditory hallucinations really are a result of the concerta and not a result of something weird that happened at a new "church"... but, it just seems sooo unlikely after two years of no side-effects. And it's not that I don't think that a drug like concerta could have a reaction like this in a extremely rare case...
Avatar n tn I started taking concerta 8 months ago and it has made ia great change in the fear I USED to have speaking in front of people . I till stutter but not near as often when speaking in front of adults .
Avatar f tn College students take them for a boost when cramming for exams or pulling all-nighters. Others abuse stimulant meds for their weight-loss properties. If your child is taking stimulants, make sure he or she isn’t sharing the pills or selling them. 1. Adderall 2. Concerta 3. Ritalin 4. Vyvanse 5. Strattera (do not use this, there is a warning on the label for suicidal thoughts) 6. focalin 7. Dexedrine Their may be other but these are the most popular ones used.
Avatar n tn I brought him back to the Dr and they put him on Concerta...we started at a low dose and now after changing the doses and given it time he is up to 54mg. and that did the trick, but once he got home from school he was out of control again. So we went back to the docs in September for a med check and I explained everything to the Dr we decided to try a low dose of Methalyn 15mg for 1 o'clock to get him through the night.
Avatar f tn If he has been on the same level of concerta for the last 4 years and has had no weight gain in the last 4 years, then an increase would possibly not be necessary - unless it no longer was working for him. The maximum recommended dose for adults is 72 mgs per day (did you know this?). I guess my question is - is your feeling about your doctors recommendation based on your sons need or yours?
Avatar m tn A primary series for adults is 3 doses of tetanus and diphtheria toxoid–containing vaccines; administer the first 2 doses at least 4 weeks apart and the third dose 6–12 months after the second. However, Tdap can substitute for any one of the doses of Td in the 3-dose primary series. The booster dose of tetanus and diphtheria toxoid–containing vaccine should be administered to adults who have completed a primary series and if the last vaccination was received 10 or more years previously.
Avatar f tn I have been prescribed Concerta 27.5 mgCR which is like adderall for ADHD. My doctor also prescribed Phenteramine 37.5 mg for weight loss. I take both together in the morning. I do go to him every month and have a check up so he can check my blood pressure...it is always low anyways. But he does keep a close eye on me. Also, if I have something stressfull happen in my life, I drop the phenterimine for a couple of days to prevent an anxidy attack.
Avatar f tn s harder than anyone else in her class. Our daughter has been on concerta 36mg now for 3months, it has made a difference, she is talking better, obviously the medication is helping her thinking, DOWN is she can't get to sleep at night, did try a lower dose of Concerta first but didn't help much, the 36mg dose is what she needs, we give her melatonin to help her sleep at night, (natural medication for sleep), the melatonin helps but still hard for her to get off to sleep.
Avatar m tn Concerta comes in 18,27,36, and 54 mg in the US.
1182411 tn?1265321044 Does anyone else have an unusually high tolerance to Adderall or other stimulant medications for their AD(H)D? I am shocked at the amount of mg's it takes for me to actually get a mild benefit from Adderall. It is a prescribed amount from my Dr, I'm just shocked at the resistance I have to it, and I still don't think I'm getting much out of it. (I'm a 30 year old Woman, I'm 5'5, and 135lbs.) Has anyone else gone through this, or is also going through this???
Avatar m tn Also, unless your child was on a prior stimulant med, the additional doses during the day are uncalled for. Your child is at the max possible dose at age 7. It does sound like your psychiatrist is on the right track. Personally, I always recommend a psychiatrist over a pediatrician due the the training involved. By the way, my standard recommendation for parents with ADHD kids is to buy the book, "The ADD/ ADHD Answer book," by Susan Ashley.
Avatar f tn Concerta is a time release. It normally lasts for 8 to 10 hours, but with this overdose it will last much longer. The worst should be the initial hit, but you will feel the effects as more of it gets released over time. But, it should not be as bad. Your note doesn't quite make sense as you said you took it today, but then you said, " I haven't even eaten in the past three days.
5757880 tn?1395578022 A smaller dose of adderall XR should still work for the 6 to 10 hours if it is working during the first couple of hours. Here is a chart listing doses and times for all the meds. http://www.leeheymd.com/charts/adhd_1.html Usually the extended release meds such as Adderall or Vyvansse are a bit smoother since they don't have the huge release at the start. Hopefully, you have informed the administration about him being picked on. This should not be happening.
Avatar f tn My major problems all this time are fatigue and weakness in my legs. My previous neurologist had suggested and prescribed Concerta for some temporary help for those symptoms. I am currently taking a 54mg tablet each morning and I cannot tell that it really helps since I do have "good" and "bad" periods. Any information will be greatly appreciated. ...
Avatar f tn My 9 year old son has been on Concerta for three years. I swear by it, I think it's great, but I have had him on 18mg. I tried him on 27mg but he was lethargic. Your son probably can't sleep because the dosage is extremly high. ADHD medications sre stimulants. If you drink energy drinks in the day time it helps get you thru the day, but if you drink them at bed time you'll toss and turn. Very similar type situation. Have you tried him on a low dose?
Avatar f tn Concerta is almost identical to Ritalin.
Avatar m tn I have been going to the same psychiatrist for over 5 years and have been recently given Concerta three months ago. During this time, the Concerta dose moved up 3 times and was given a new script. Some of these scripts were turned in during the same month. The doctor added on ritalin on a separate script one month. I have turned in these prescriptions mostly to the same pharmacy, but when at Walmart I have turned them in there.
Avatar m tn ADD drugs are uppers. But they do not act as uppers for the patient who has ADD. For your son they are acting as uppers. I question whether he has ADD. I agree with the previous entry. Get a second opinion.
Avatar n tn Thanks for responding, that makes total sense and I'll try and look around for some books by some "memory experts" like you said and see what I can find that might help. I appreciate it.
