my child only takes one 36mg concerta tablets of a morning and lasts all day the recommended dosage is 1mg per kilogram the dosage you have stated there your child must weigh roughly 72kilograms???????? whick i doubt. that dosage worries me. Its not a easy road.

We didnt like the way the Ridelin effected our children either. We have 2 with ADHD and one that doesn't. We ended up switching to Concerta for the oldest and Adderral for the youngest. If you are not happy with the side effects there are options. Dont settle !

If he is getting mad at his sister under Cocerta and was not before Concerta, maybe the dosage is too high. Talk to his doctor about decreasing it or changing to another medicine such as Metadate CD.

Interesting, I can find no mention of a 32mg dose of concerta. Is he on a 36 mg dose? if he is, "The maximum dosage of Concerta should not be greater than 0.9 mg per pound of body weight." fish oil is certainly something worth trying. There are ones out there developed specifically for kids (chewable, etc), and they will have the suggested dosage on the bottle. I really can't see any reason that primrose (I assume the oil) would be worth your money.

I have a 5 year old daughter who has recently been "kicked out" of pre-school for aggression. My husband & I have taken her to therapy and we are now trying medication (Concerta 36mg). Nothing seems to be working and the aggression is worsening. I love my baby girl and it is breaking my heart to see her so unhappy all the time. We are doing everything that is recommended in therapy (behavior charts, ect) and still no progress.

Im a 16 yearold male that plays a ton of sports and works out a lot but I'm never hungry! Its really weird all my buddies eat a ton of food after our games and in general there always hungry! I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 160 pounds. I am starting to feel weak because I don't eat. Is it normal for me to feel like this? I'm currently on 105mg of concerta. Could the concerta be doing it to me?

ive been on concerta since i was 10, when they were figuring out the dosage, this would happen to me when the dose was too high. so they lowered the dose and ive been on the same dosage for almost 12 years now. so my suggestion is to lower the dosage if possible. though youll notice side effects the first couple of weeks as the body gets used to the meds. so even if you switch meds you may notice side effects anyways.

I was diagnosed with ADHD (to add to my list of other mental health issues) at the age of 21 and was put on Concerta as treatment. Well, three years has passed and my dosage has increased to 108 mg/morning. At 72 mg I started developping speech problems and then they worsened at 90 mg. It was so bad, that ny doctor reduced my dose but later on he decided to increase it back up as I was having a lot of struggles.

My son has been taking Concerta xl 36mg for over a year now during school term for ADHD with no symptom until recently. He now grunt or groan and has involuntary spasm. I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult a few years ago, and started taking concerta to help me focus in college. I stopped taking it for a while, and about a month ago, went back on the concerta. I take 36mg of extended release in the mornings when I have class or homework to do, and it does help me focus. However, since going back on it, I've noticed that I sometimes can't grasp words. Like I know what I'm talking about/trying to say, but I can't place a word with it.

ve read about extended release focalin verses extended release concerta is that focalin works faster (within 30 minutes of taking it) and is better for a child that needs the help prior to leaving for school and that type of thing. So, it is reported that it begins working fast in the morning and continues to control symptoms during the day and then tapers off at hours 10 to 12.

Im not good with converting pounds to kilograms but with the concerta it is roughly 1mg for every kilo.

I did not personally find it as helpful as the concerta.... but everyone is different! Your son might find it even more helpful then the concerta, you'll only know if you try it! It's not a stimulant, so... SOME people might think that was a plus... but... uhhh... it's sort of like an anti-depressant, so like with ANY anti-depressant your son MIGHT experience withdrawal effects if he ever wanted to go off of it...

My son is taking Concerta 36mg. in the AM...and an afternoon dose of 10mg methylphenidate...HE DOES NOT HAVE AN Appetite...He says No thank You to EVERYTHING FOOD That I offer him since starting these meds.... He is 10 years old and have always had a great appetite.....HELP ....

She is now 18 and she takes Concerta 72 mg. daily. Because of her ADHD, she has become a compulsive eater and is now very obese. Now that she is 18, she wants to try weight loss pills like Alli and Lipozene. I advised her against it, saying diet and excersise are the best options, but she has a lot of trouble loosing weight, like most of my family. My Son was on Concerta, the same dosage. From personal observations the medication has different results for different people. There were no real side effects for my son other than 1. He seemed to have lost his personality. With the loss of personality he lost his creativity. He became distant and lethargic.

When he moved from Kindergarten to 1st grade, he was switched to Concerta because it is time-released. It took a little while for him to adjust but he's done well on it. We find that Spring is when he seems to need an increase in dosage. He still uses Ritalin if he has an evening event that needs him to focus. Hi folks, I took Concerta for 2 weeks and gave it up because of GI issues and a lot of facial twitching in addition to still having a lot of fatigue. I stopped taking it almost a week ago but I still have a remaining eye twitch that is driving me nuts. Now I'm thinking the current twitch is likely unrelated to Concerta and may be MS related. If so, it is a new symptom for me and like most MS symptoms, I need relief. Has anyone had any success getting rid of the twitches?

My 9 year old son has been on 18mg of Concerta for three years now and it's been great for him. Unlike Ritalin, Concerta is taken only once in the morning so it starts to wear off in time for dinner and definately on time for going to bed. The problem with Ritalin seems to be that it's a difficult come down and makes going to sleep at night very uncomfortable. Concerta has been great for my son.

What are some of the treatment options for adult ADD-inattentive? My doc put me on Wellbutrin XL 150 mg once a day but it's not really helping. I still get very distracted and can't focus on just one thing. Are there any adults that have experienced success with other medications? I already take Omega-3 fish oils, B-complex, etc. and exercise 30 min./day Thanks!

hes been going through physical agressive behavior in school so bad that they are making me look at diffrent schools next week because he has been suspended due to his behavior. he just started concerta the last 5 days but iv been through about a handfull of different med including bipolar medication. hes very sorry for hes behavior and will ask me mom why am i bad i wanna be good. my heart just breaks/ but i dont know what he has or why his doing this!

Hello, I lost 15 pounds over the last 3 months. I'm taking Concerta (36 mg- twice per day), Tecfidera (240 mg twice per day) and Brintellix (10 mg). I have no appetite and when I eat everything tastes awful. Concerta and Brintellux are more effective for me versus Modnafinil and Cymbalta. However, I can't afford to lose anymore weight. Additionally, I'm only sleeping about 3 hours per night due to trips to the restroom.

His pediatrcian has put him on 56 mg of Concerta with an addicional 19 mg while at school and 10 mg after school so we can get through homework. We recently started seeing a psychatrist and he said the school meds are way too high and should only take at most 56mg for school. He seemed ok on the higher dose. What should I do?
