Avatar f tn my child only takes one 36mg concerta tablets of a morning and lasts all day the recommended dosage is 1mg per kilogram the dosage you have stated there your child must weigh roughly 72kilograms???????? whick i doubt. that dosage worries me. Its not a easy road.
454366 tn?1211245301 Please read the info on www.jonbarron.org on Bi-Polar disorder in children. The info is kinda scary; but I think you might help with finding other avenues to take. Peace be with you and keep the faith. Our kids are our future. Let's not just dope them up because we are told to. Let's not dope ourselves up either.
1031310 tn?1259857386 Honestly, I think concerta is a way safer drug for CHILDREN in general who do not have reactions to concerta (and reactions to concerta are very rare). I would not make the same statement about adults... probably both are safe for adults (and reactions are rare). But for CHILDREN, concerta is probably the safer of the two UNLESS these sudden auditory hallucinations really are a result of the concerta and not a result of something weird that happened at a new "church"...
Avatar n tn I want to take her off the atenolol to see if it would make a difference but the cardiologist said that she is in danger of morbid arrhythmia. She has 3-4 PACs in a row constantly. Is this really dangerous? I read that children often have PACs and is not dangerous.

Avatar f tn Parents of ADD ADHD children know that the medications used to treat their ADHD children have side effects. Most side effects of drugs like Ritalin or Concerta can be eliminated by proper medical management. However, one of the most difficult problems that these medications cause is sleep disturbances. It is very common for an ADD ADHD child who is on medication to have difficulty falling asleep at night.
5757880 tn?1395578022 They send me reports about his behavior and we ended up having to switch his medication in the middle of September to Concerta. (He has been having serious issues recently at school, especially with keeping his hands to himself – he has become EXTREMELY tactile and we are currently working on that; ie: squeezy balls, bracelets, etc) We also have been given a grant to work with a non-profit organization for a Wraparound and our first team meeting is tonight.
Avatar n tn yes as the child grows and yes in weight particularly they dosage has to be increased or it will not work how it should and has in the past i know with the concerta they roughly work it out 1mg for each kilogram,so my child is on 36mg but weighs 40kg we went just under as apposed to giving to higher dose.
Avatar f tn My son is 8 on concerta and he also wets his pants I am begining to wonder I have read the literature and can't find any connection. But I do wonder.
Avatar f tn 5%) reported in children and adolescents was upper abdominal pain. The most common adverse reactions in double-blind clinical trials (>5%) in adult patients were decreased appetite, headache, dry mouth, nausea, insomnia, anxiety, dizziness, weight decreased, irritability, and hyperhidrosis." http://www.concerta.net/adult/adhd-medication-safety-concerta-side-effects.html Cheers.........
Avatar n tn We got over hurdles by therapy, putting him in extracurrricular activites. He is now on Concerta 54mg in the morning and takes 5mg of Ritalin in the afternoon. Concerta has been great, no side effects or anything. We had bad reactions with vyvvanse with my 6yr old - as in hallucinations big time. They are both on Concerta actually. keep in mind the medication is not for ODD - there is no medication for that. They give the medication for ADD or ADHD, which mine have.
Avatar m tn FYI the dosage is 54mg Concerta given in the A.M. usually lasting to around the evening meal time, additonal medication(ritalin) was offered to take him through the rest of the day but this didnt work out.
Avatar n tn Interesting, I can find no mention of a 32mg dose of concerta. Is he on a 36 mg dose? if he is, "The maximum dosage of Concerta should not be greater than 0.9 mg per pound of body weight." fish oil is certainly something worth trying. There are ones out there developed specifically for kids (chewable, etc), and they will have the suggested dosage on the bottle. I really can't see any reason that primrose (I assume the oil) would be worth your money.
Avatar f tn I have a 5 year old daughter who has recently been "kicked out" of pre-school for aggression. My husband & I have taken her to therapy and we are now trying medication (Concerta 36mg). Nothing seems to be working and the aggression is worsening. I love my baby girl and it is breaking my heart to see her so unhappy all the time. We are doing everything that is recommended in therapy (behavior charts, ect) and still no progress.
Avatar n tn Has been on Concerta and Adderall in the past. He maxed out the dosage with Concerta and I was not happy with some of the side affects with the Adderall. He has had other strange behavior in the past as well... chewing on sleeves and necks of clothing, chewing on his head/foot board, and chewing on the mini-blinds. We have taken away everything except for bedding, clothing and books.
1110718 tn?1258435594 They took her off the concerta and left her on the abilify because they stated that the Concerta can make children be more aggresive and irritated and she does seem a little more laid back. But what should I do besides having her on meds and taking her a therapist? I do not know what the next step would be if this continues. I feel like I do not know what to do any more to help her.
Avatar f tn You can contact Concerta on their website and ask them if they will have any coupons for that dosage at another time.
Avatar f tn We didnt like the way the Ridelin effected our children either. We have 2 with ADHD and one that doesn't. We ended up switching to Concerta for the oldest and Adderral for the youngest. If you are not happy with the side effects there are options. Dont settle !
Avatar m tn Concerta comes in 18,27,36, and 54 mg in the US.
Avatar m tn Will this make any difference? Also any information about schizophrenia in children would be helpful. I do not think it is severe in my son, but I am worried and am unsure of how to approach this.
356518 tn?1322263642 I have seen to many horror stories on it. Including my own family memebers. My son is ADD and is on Concerta... Concerta is great... It is as close as you can get to ritalin and it not have the bad effects like ritalin. Maybe you should try it. It is expensive though. the 27mg dose is like 100 CDN a month. But works well.
Avatar n tn dosages of the various medications that eliminate the need to give him 3 daily dosages. In fact, Concerta is a once per day dosage that lasts almost 12 hours. It is my understanding that Metadate CD lasts about eight hours and has less side effects than Ritalin. You can Google these names and research the various types of these medications available.
Avatar m tn ive been on concerta since i was 10, when they were figuring out the dosage, this would happen to me when the dose was too high. so they lowered the dose and ive been on the same dosage for almost 12 years now. so my suggestion is to lower the dosage if possible. though youll notice side effects the first couple of weeks as the body gets used to the meds. so even if you switch meds you may notice side effects anyways.
Avatar f tn I can see being on V and perhaps adderall in the late after noon. Or concerta and ritalin in the late afternoon. Since the Concerta/ritalin are the same type of meds. Same thing for Vyvannse and Adderall. Point being, why was the V not working for you? What symptoms did you have. I would think that the two could have been over dosing you. Did you ever try just V alone?
