Concerta dosage for kids

Common Questions and Answers about Concerta dosage for kids

concerta

Avatar n tn Interesting, I can find no mention of a 32mg dose of concerta. Is he on a 36 mg dose? if he is, "The maximum dosage of Concerta should not be greater than 0.9 mg per pound of body weight." fish oil is certainly something worth trying. There are ones out there developed specifically for kids (chewable, etc), and they will have the suggested dosage on the bottle. I really can't see any reason that primrose (I assume the oil) would be worth your money.
Avatar f tn At this age, you probably should only medicate her for school. Concerta is a 12 hour medicine. Many kids do not sleep well when on these type of long lasting meds. You might be better off with a shorter acting medicine such as Metadate CD (8 hours only) or Ritalin and maybe a lower dosage. At 5 years old, it is very hard to get the right medicine and doasage to work. Make sure that you have a good doctor and you are communicating with him/her.
5757880 tn?1395578022 We probably won't go back to Vyvanse - he became a bit more aggressive and over-emotional when he was on it in the end. That is when they switched him to Concerta. The doctor said she was going to move him to Plain Methylphenidate (20mg / Twice a Day) but it will be for (3) times a day at 15mg. She is hoping since it's similar to Concerta it will work for him. They also mentioned taking the script to Wal-Mart and I wouldn't have to pay alot for it. Do you know if that's true?
Avatar f tn ve read about extended release focalin verses extended release concerta is that focalin works faster (within 30 minutes of taking it) and is better for a child that needs the help prior to leaving for school and that type of thing. So, it is reported that it begins working fast in the morning and continues to control symptoms during the day and then tapers off at hours 10 to 12.

Avatar n tn My son is 15 years old and for as long as I can remeber he has always been very unhappy & extremely angry. He's been in & out of therapy (counseling) since he was 4 years old. We had NEVER concidered medication until about 8 months ago. My son was tired of not being liked, feeling angry, sad and felt he needed help beyond just counseling.
Avatar f tn my child only takes one 36mg concerta tablets of a morning and lasts all day the recommended dosage is 1mg per kilogram the dosage you have stated there your child must weigh roughly 72kilograms???????? whick i doubt. that dosage worries me. Its not a easy road.
1756969 tn?1332437163 wondering if anyone has tried concerta for their adhd? i was on a few meds a few years ago but stopped taking them because nothing seemed to work. i am about to try going back on concerta 36mg and see if it will help. i also have depression and am starting a new med called celexa. any info will help. thanks!! not sure what i should be looking for in healthy changes.
Avatar n tn My 9 year old has been on Concerta 18mg for three years now and it has been great for him. I actually wish he would take some extra time with his penmanship, but he is doing so well with his academics and impulse control I am very pleased. Concerta is only taken once a day, in the morning, unlike Ritalin. I think Concerta would be something for you to look into.
Avatar f tn My son is 9 years old and has add. he is on concerta he has been on it for about 7 months now..he gets mad at his brother and sisters easly and he has a problem wetting the bed and pooping in his pants at night is this caused by the concerta?
Avatar f tn You can contact Concerta on their website and ask them if they will have any coupons for that dosage at another time.
Avatar m tn Im a 16 yearold male that plays a ton of sports and works out a lot but I'm never hungry! Its really weird all my buddies eat a ton of food after our games and in general there always hungry! I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 160 pounds. I am starting to feel weak because I don't eat. Is it normal for me to feel like this? I'm currently on 105mg of concerta. Could the concerta be doing it to me?
Avatar m tn ive been on concerta since i was 10, when they were figuring out the dosage, this would happen to me when the dose was too high. so they lowered the dose and ive been on the same dosage for almost 12 years now. so my suggestion is to lower the dosage if possible. though youll notice side effects the first couple of weeks as the body gets used to the meds. so even if you switch meds you may notice side effects anyways.
Avatar f tn She says that sometimes her hands get tingly. She is on Concerta for ADHD and has been for about 2 years. It seems to help her focus, but this twitching has started in her body about 3-4 months ago and it comes and goes. She had a huge growth spurt last summer, growing 4 inches in about 5 months and gaining about 30 lbs! The rheumotologist thought the pain in her joints and muscles might be related to that.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult a few years ago, and started taking concerta to help me focus in college. I stopped taking it for a while, and about a month ago, went back on the concerta. I take 36mg of extended release in the mornings when I have class or homework to do, and it does help me focus. However, since going back on it, I've noticed that I sometimes can't grasp words. Like I know what I'm talking about/trying to say, but I can't place a word with it.
Avatar f tn My son has been taking Concerta xl 36mg for over a year now during school term for ADHD with no symptom until recently. He now grunt or groan and has involuntary spasm. Doctors dont seem to help much they just advise me that over time it should go. I make sure he is on an healthy diet at all time but with not much help. Any suggestions please!
Avatar f tn Are you going to the same doctor as your kids are? You might want to try that. I get good results with Vyvanse. See if you can try some of that. Read about it online. If you get an Rx, print a coupon before you go to the pharmacy. It will save you BIG.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the responses! All I did was a google search for how long concerta stays in the system and it was the first thing they popped up. I am new to this so I do not have the experience you do and I know you can’t believe everything you read online. There is just a very delicate dance between my thyroid and taking testosterone that I am working through and I think adding these meds that I am on added gas to the fire. Bad mistake.
1031310 tn?1259857386 Honestly, I think concerta is a way safer drug for CHILDREN in general who do not have reactions to concerta (and reactions to concerta are very rare). I would not make the same statement about adults... probably both are safe for adults (and reactions are rare). But for CHILDREN, concerta is probably the safer of the two UNLESS these sudden auditory hallucinations really are a result of the concerta and not a result of something weird that happened at a new "church"...
Avatar n tn My son has been on adhd medication for 6 years and i have had the same problems, but before he takes his 18 mg concerta, he must eat all his breakfast. His breakfast is a lot more than his lunch. Then i also give him melon juice every morning.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am 16 years old and have been on concerta for almost a year. I know all about the ticks because I got the same thing, even blinking, clearing my throat, and rolling my eyes constantly. My mom and I were worried about this at first, but I stayed on the meds. The ticks eventually went away along with all the other side affects. I have no permanent damage and to be honest I am so glad I stayed on the concerta, i am focused and my head is more clear than it's ever been.
Avatar f tn Hi folks, I took Concerta for 2 weeks and gave it up because of GI issues and a lot of facial twitching in addition to still having a lot of fatigue. I stopped taking it almost a week ago but I still have a remaining eye twitch that is driving me nuts. Now I'm thinking the current twitch is likely unrelated to Concerta and may be MS related. If so, it is a new symptom for me and like most MS symptoms, I need relief. Has anyone had any success getting rid of the twitches?
