Common Questions and Answers about Concerta cost per pill

concerta

9003081 tn?1401126498 With adderall the pharmacy charges the same price per pill regardless of the dose. So, I have my doctor write proscriptions for 2x the dose and cut them in half. Using a proscription discount card brings my cost down to $43 dollars for two months of the pills. So, my total cost paying out of pocket is about $2 a day. I explained my situation to my doctor and he worked with me. With ADD, it is common for a doctor to write prescriptions for 2 or 3 months at a time (but you have to ask).
148588 tn?1465778809 For example, Gilead’s own Stribild, a costly new four-in-one combo treatment for HIV/AIDS, is $80 per pill. At $1,000 per pill, Sovaldi costs 1,100% more than Stribild, the most-expensive AIDS combo drug on the market. In addition, Gilead is charging a higher price for this drug even though the cost to produce it is small. According to industry reports, Gilead produces Sovaldi for approximately $1.00 per gram (with only 10 to 30 grams needed to successfully treat patients with Hepatitis C).
Avatar f tn I checked his eyes this morning before he took his Concerta pill and his eyes were still dialated, but not as badly as after he takes the Concerta. Should I take him to an eye doctor or should I discuss this with his psychiatist (who prescribes his Concerta) first?
Avatar f tn Tried ritalin (normal), ritalin SR, Concerta and amphetamine. Concerta gave me something but felt something missing, normal ritalin was terrible, OD and came into "cocain waves" (very high, and straight to the bottom), amph gave me more but I didn´t eat, and felt a bit anxious, ritalin SR was, and is my favourite, works as a charm.
Avatar f tn I have child that was also on Concerta 36. There are two types of this medication. Concerta and Concerta CR which is controller release, I believe it was called. However, I found that concerta is not a very effective drug for dealing with ADHD. You might want to have the school give her the second dose at 1pm at school, this way it will avoid the medicine lapsing while she is at school.
5757880 tn?1395578022 After spending $186.00 for the generic form of concerta I'm about ready to cry... no, I have already cried. My insurance changed plans to a high deductible and now I must meet a $2500.00 in regards to my son's medication. I have already checked with medicad/medicare, the martketplace and there is nothing my insurance company nor employeer can do. Can anyone give me any information in how I can lower my cost or perhaps is there a cheaper alternative? Thank You!
Avatar f tn Hello, I lost 15 pounds over the last 3 months. I'm taking Concerta (36 mg- twice per day), Tecfidera (240 mg twice per day) and Brintellix (10 mg). I have no appetite and when I eat everything tastes awful. Concerta and Brintellux are more effective for me versus Modnafinil and Cymbalta. However, I can't afford to lose anymore weight. Additionally, I'm only sleeping about 3 hours per night due to trips to the restroom.
Avatar f tn My dad is snorting my sisters concerta. We've caught him once a couple of years ago and he said he stopped. he's only giving my sister half a pill (54 miligrams) now. He's doing it constantly and drinking like theres no tomorrow. His belly is VERY hard and round. I know thats a stage of liver problems. Serious liver problems. What could it do to him? and my sister only getting half of her pill?
Avatar n tn kind of personal but its important 3 days ago i took concerta 54mg, it was a dirty pill that was exposed for week and a half but i needed it i took it on 8:16 in the morning, so it will last untill 20:16 or 20:46 depends on when the 12 hours begin around 18:00 i felt a sexual urge, i had an eraction but i didnt do anything with it 5 - 6 minuets after i tried to masterbate, i failed to get aroused just by sight and had to somewhat force ejacuation (i got arousd only after 40 seconds of.. well...
Avatar n tn Interesting, I can find no mention of a 32mg dose of concerta. Is he on a 36 mg dose? if he is, "The maximum dosage of Concerta should not be greater than 0.9 mg per pound of body weight." fish oil is certainly something worth trying. There are ones out there developed specifically for kids (chewable, etc), and they will have the suggested dosage on the bottle. I really can't see any reason that primrose (I assume the oil) would be worth your money.
Avatar m tn I saw this yesterday, printed it out and have read it several times. And I'll probably have to read it several more before I can completely wrap my head around it. The good news, as I see it, is the clarity it brings to the subject of actual cost of new medications to payers. "The $1000 dollar pill" or the "$1125 pill" has gotten so much play in the media. (Doctors aren't immune to this nor are many who work in the insurance industry.
Avatar n tn My son is taking Concerta 36mg. in the AM...and an afternoon dose of 10mg methylphenidate...HE DOES NOT HAVE AN Appetite...He says No thank You to EVERYTHING FOOD That I offer him since starting these meds.... He is 10 years old and have always had a great appetite.....HELP ....
Avatar f tn Sorry I don't have Kaiser health insurance, maybe someone else here does, but those prices sound about right. Those are your "co-pay costs", the "actual cost" is thousands of dollars per month as you have heard. I had Blue Cross of California during treatment and my co-pay cost were similar to the prices you quoted.
Avatar f tn At age 5 he was diagnosed with pretty sever ADHD. We started on Strattera and after two weeks he violently attacked me...We then went to Concerta then to Focalin then back to Concerta....not ever obtaining great control of ADHD. He additionally was put on Prozac about a year ago for anxiety as he was chewing the skin off his fingers until they would bleed and chew huge blisters on his lips. Three weeks ago, the Psychiatrist added in Intuniv...OH MY GOSH...
Avatar m tn Hey, I was prescribed generic 10mg Adderall 1x per day by my psych, but when I tried it I felt slightly dizzy with ear stuffiness (the type when you fly on airplanes) accompanied by sharp, inner ear pain (in both ears). This lasted about 1.5 months. Is there anyway to reduce this while taking adderall, and what could it be caused by?
Avatar f tn My 9 year old son has been on 18mg of Concerta for three years now and it's been great for him. Unlike Ritalin, Concerta is taken only once in the morning so it starts to wear off in time for dinner and definately on time for going to bed. The problem with Ritalin seems to be that it's a difficult come down and makes going to sleep at night very uncomfortable. Concerta has been great for my son.
Avatar n tn So now they take their concerta and risperdal at 7 am every morning and at 7 pm they take one more risperdal pill and life is so much better in our home now .
Avatar f tn Everything is relative-- but yes, that is a large dose. Consider that Percocet tablets-- medications used to treat surgical pain in dose ranges of 1-2 every 4 hours-- contain 5-10 mg of oxycodone. You are taking the equivalent of 70 of the 5 mg tabs every day, when the dose after major surgery would be on the order of 5-10 tablets per day. The largest dose I've seen in a patient addicted to oxycodone is about 700 mg per day.
Avatar n tn Hello Tia Sherry is right you do need to give it time. My son is now on Concerta. we started on Strattera (sp) first and kept going up on the mg. like the Dr said. After 3 months I still didn't see any changes with him. I brought him back to the Dr and they put him on Concerta...we started at a low dose and now after changing the doses and given it time he is up to 54mg. and that did the trick, but once he got home from school he was out of control again.
Avatar n tn my 8 yr old is on concerta 27mg she has been on it for a month and just started complaing about her chest feeling like it was so tight she cant breath and her heart herts when her chest tightens...the nurse said give her tylnole and take her to her doctor in the morning not to give her her pill ..is she going to be alright we had a really bad experiance with the vyvance and the folcolin i cant let my baby go threw that again...how can i help her in school and not hert her while doing so?...
Avatar f tn i'm 17 and i take concerta (ritalin) which the medication is released from the capsule in different amounts during the day. when i wake up at 6:45 to go to school sometimes i don't eat but i always take my pill, which makes me feel sick or not hungry or have a headache. should i take a lower dose if it makes me feel bad?
Avatar n tn We tried putting my 9 year old son (who has ADHD) on Concerta about a month ago and after about 4 days, he started frequently rolling his eyes involuntarily up and to the right. We took him off immediately, but the symptoms have persisted. I'm not sure if it was caused by the Concerta, as he'd previously been on it for a month about a year ago and did not display the eye rolling. Does anyone know if there is a correlation, and if this is something that will stop?
Avatar f tn My 9 year old son has been taking 72mg of Concerta every day for over a year now. The cost of the medication is outrageous. Our doctor has written us new prescription for him for Adderall during the day and Ritilan for homework time if it is needed. My questions is, is there any significant side effects or dangers between the Concerta and Adderall? My husband is very reluctant to switch is medication and we are just trying to get some help with the questions we have.
Avatar f tn My son is soon to be 17 years old. He has been on 54mg of Concerta for 4 years plus. Before that he was on Ritalin, both for ADD. This medication treatment was recommended some time ago to help him academically and I must say, it has not really helped all these years. He continues to struggle in school and has trouble with depression so I am writing to request some clarity. Recently, his doctor has recommended a higher dose of Concerta.
