2083581 tn?1332307861 Ritalin is the only drug that has ever helped me but when it wears off I am depressed again. (and I have tried Concerta and did like it) Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Three weeks ago, the Psychiatrist added in Intuniv...OH MY GOSH...the Concerta and Intuniv were PERFECT....Great days at school and an amazing kid emerged...Then at the end of two weeks he developed a tic...This was so horrible...They were happening about 12 - 16 per minute. raised eyebrows, eyes rolling to back of the head, head tilt to the side and a humming sound. We called Psych. and Concerta was stopped. However a week later, the tics are still here...not as frequent...
Avatar f tn I take Abilfy, Topomax, Wellbutrin and Concerta. I go to the gym 3x week and try to watch what I eat. I am always tired!!!! Any suggesstions?
Avatar m tn As far as I know, the only two are intuniv and concerta. They use different formulations. No clue which is better. I think it probably depends on the individual. Both do take a while to take effect (compared to a stimulant). If you google them, you will be able to see lots of anecdotal posts on how it worked for that poster or their children. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I have been on many ADD and anti depressant meds but all to no avail except with Wellbutrin XR and somewhat with Concerta. The Wellbutrin worked amazingly well a long time ago but stopped shortly after I took a small sip of hard liquor. My doctors are perplexed by this but that is the only explanation I can come up with. I have given the medication a couple of more shots since, as recent as a year ago but all to no avail. I am currently on concerta.
Avatar f tn Ive taken Wellbutrin and Concerta from 8-22yrs old. I stopped for 4 years and my breasts increased a cup size when I stopped taking them!! Now that I am back on both, they (my breasts) have decreased! What is going on? Am I the only person that this has happened to? This is "not a side effect" is what my doctors say. My doctors think I don't know what is happening to my body, but I have even had friends say, "you have lost your butt and your breasts…what happened?!
Avatar f tn I prescribed60 mg of adderall but one week I had to take left over phentermine and 10mg adderall and my focusing was great and energy and I still do take 1/3 of phentermine a day.
429700 tn?1308007823 But that was the moment I decided to go to the shrink to see if it was true. I tried Ritalin and Concerta, but eventually decided they weren't worth it. Thanks for the rolling chair tip in the other post! Good one. Since I am a resource room teacher, I get to sit most of the time anyway. If I were in a classroom situation, I don't think I could do it without the rolling chair.
Avatar f tn Lithium 900mg, Wellbutrin 300mg twice daily, Lamictal, Concerta 36mg, and Seraquel 100mg. All I am being told is that the hardest thing when treating bipolar disorder is to keep the patient on there meds, am I going CRAZY or could the meds be the problem? P.S I am scared to look for a new Dr because I have heard its really hard to find one in this town. I like my Dr and have trusted him up to this point, but now.........
Avatar m tn Concerta, 30mg Adderall IR, and 30mg Adderall XR. Concerta gave me migraines. Adderall XR completely sucked. Adderall IR was the best medication that I found until Vyvanse. Now I think Adderall is horrible in comparison. I've been taking 30mg of Vyvanse for a few months now. This has been my adjusted dose from trying 20mg, 30mg, and 50mg. 50mg was wayy too much at the time. 30mg was perfect until about a month ago. It lasted about 12 hours, a huge improvement over 4 hours of Adderall IR.

Avatar n tn He now takes concerta, welbutrin and zyprexa at 7am, welbutrin again at 4pm, 1500mg of depakote at 6pm and concerta and zyprexa at 8pm. The last two weekends in rw at our house there has not been any problems, no problems sleeping and no sudden mood swings.
969557 tn?1314370614 My son was on concerta and adderall and they both can cause seizures. I would ask doctor to you for an egg and make sure you are not having seizures.Witch is a side effect to concerta and can not be reversed .They can only give you medicine to try and control the seizures. I wish we had never put my son on these medicines.
Avatar n tn ve decided on a new short term strategy which is to first try a stimulant medication (Concerta) for ADHD to see if there are short term gains as the literature seems to indicate that depression and ADHD exascerbate one another and for a teen whose school performance and social interactions are diminished by ADHD, correcting that may improve the depression and we may find out in a short time. If that doesn't work, we'll go back to an anti-depressant.
Avatar n tn Doctor reduced dosage which DID NOT help episodes and seemed unconcerned. I took her off concerta and made appt psychologist. Again tested and diagnosed with ADHD recommended try straterra again. This time wanted to sleep all the time. Day and night. Couldn't function. Then back to adderall. Adderall has made life semi tolerable but constant "bickering" between us - so not really working. Over the last several years she has had significant weight gain not loss.
Avatar m tn At the time, I was also taking Wellbutrin and Lamictal (I have definitely had issues with depressive mood swings.) The first two weeks of the medication were amazing. Not only was I in a wonderful (almost euphoric) mood, but more importantly, I was also getting all of my homework and studies taken care. For the first time in my life, I was able to cross everything off my to-do list. However, during the afternoon the medication would wear off and I would lose focus and feel kinda crappy.
1756970 tn?1314376733 hi, concerta ,and stratara, and all the others my doc put me on didn't come close to adderall. focalin worked to but was costly. adderall leavels your brain, and lets you be yourself. the way your supose to be.
Avatar f tn Strattera, Adderall XR, Vyvanse, and Daytrana are medications I have taken, my brother takes Concerta. Vyvanse and Adderall XR are the only meds I can take. I have a real sensitive stomach and immune system, and am allergic to a lot so I would think that you can handle most of these.
Avatar f tn t know that it helps but DR INSISTS I take it, along with Wellbutrin, and a Concerta if I feel I need it. I am 35 this month, have struggled my whole life with Anxiety/PTSD, why do DR's always want you to try something else first even though I have had "Reactions", meds that DID NOT work....
Avatar m tn Yes, you can stop the adderall. The others you can not stop, but must be slowly taken off them. HOWEVER, I think you reason for your problems is the prozac. I quote: "We will cover more details later, but for now just remember this: Prozac and Paxil both significantly block the pathway for the metabolism of Adderall and all the amphetamine products. [Wellbutrin and Cymbalta can block 2D6 at their higher doses.
Avatar m tn Hi I have ADD and I have been taking concerta it is great it helps me focus and stay on track and I still am creative I coach cheerleading and make better comp routines now then I did when I took nothing. The only side affect that is common is it decreases your appetite. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Concerta for one year. This was to counteract the fatigue and sleepiness that I had been getting from taking Paxil for depression. Though Concertat was initially effective, it gradually became more of a detriment than help. It made me very irritable, unfocused, and moody. I have worked with my doctor to gradually phase concerta out from the 72m I was taking daily.
Avatar n tn We tried putting my 9 year old son (who has ADHD) on Concerta about a month ago and after about 4 days, he started frequently rolling his eyes involuntarily up and to the right. We took him off immediately, but the symptoms have persisted. I'm not sure if it was caused by the Concerta, as he'd previously been on it for a month about a year ago and did not display the eye rolling. Does anyone know if there is a correlation, and if this is something that will stop?
Avatar n tn I started taking concerta 8 months ago and it has made ia great change in the fear I USED to have speaking in front of people . I till stutter but not near as often when speaking in front of adults .
Avatar m tn I was prescribed Bupropion 100mg twice a day. The first couple weeks my wife and I both noticed a big improvement with my symptom of ADD. Than all of a sudden it stopped working. I told my doctor, he changed it to Bupropion 300mg XL. Its been a week and a half since its been changed and no improvement. What happened to make it quit working? Will it start if I give it some more time?
Avatar m tn In addition I am tapering off diazepam and down to 2mg in the morning and 1 at night. Everytime I try to get off the concerta I get terrible anxiety from it. I have it to a degree while on it also. I want off but my dr who takes 3 weeks to get into anyway, won’t switch me to a med I can taper off of. I know 3 weeks is a short time compared to what most of you have been through. But can someone please tell me how long my withdrawals are going to last??
558991 tn?1226060828 She is now 18 and she takes Concerta 72 mg. daily. Because of her ADHD, she has become a compulsive eater and is now very obese. Now that she is 18, she wants to try weight loss pills like Alli and Lipozene. I advised her against it, saying diet and excersise are the best options, but she has a lot of trouble loosing weight, like most of my family. I am very worried that Concerta mixed with any weight loss medications can cause problems. Are my fears rational? Thanks.
Avatar f tn This type of antidepressant treats depression by increasing serotonin levels in the brain. . Wellbutrin is a norepinephrine and dopamine reuptake inhibitor, and is the only U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved drug in its class. It does not affect serotonin at all, and instead inhibits the reuptake of norepinephrine and dopamine, therefore, increasing the levels of these two neurotransmitters in the brain." I imagine that is why he may have you on these two drugs.
Avatar f tn Hello all! I have had attention problems since icould remember. Im 24 now. But only in the year or so I've realized that it has actually caused a lot of problems study wise for me. I feel constantly bored or loos interest in the smallest tasks and tend not to sleep allot because it feels like I can't switch the conversations off in my head. I only really realized that my behavior was a bit odd, when my friend kept telling me that I walk around and interrupt allot of people in class.
