It has been now one month and a half that I began reducing the dose and I am into my second week of not taking the drug at all. However, I am still experiencing very bad withdrawal symptoms, extreme fatigue, deep depression with suicidal thoughts, and complete lack of motivation and focus.
I wonder if anyone out there has had this experience with Concerta.
In addition I am tapering off diazepam and down to 2mg in the morning and 1 at night. Everytime I try to get off the concerta I get terrible anxiety from it. I have it to a degree while on it also. I want off but my dr who takes 3 weeks to get into anyway, won’t switch me to a med I can taper off of. I know 3 weeks is a short time compared to what most of you have been through. But can someone please tell me how long my withdrawals are going to last??
t feel a very big difference but did realise that I was more focussed and felt more tired at night and got more sleep. So after that month the concerta dosage stayed the same but the pdoc gave me 25mg lamictal with it. He said something about having a mood disorder, this after i filled out another questionair that, to me, sounded exactly like the adhd questionair. I told the doc that i really don't want to just keep changing the meds the whole time.
Concerta does not cause the enlarged heart, but definitely increases the heart rate and causes other chest pains, so cardiovascular monitoring is a MUST with all the ADHD-drug taking children.
My son has a 5-6 mm hole in his heart and we get Eco every year, just because he is taking Concerta. So far, we were lucky and did not have to suspend taking it.
If they say it - keep him off of it. I am sorry to say that.
Whilst taking the meds, I noticed that the veins in my arms, hands, stomach and along the shaft of my penis expanded in size. I also had increases in bp to about 160/70. Since stopping the veins are still more prominent than they were before.
I have less desire to have sex.
I have an enlarged varicocele (which became larger after ritalin/concerta).
Initially (for about two months), whilst I was on Ritalin I experienced increased libido and experienced really intense erections.
My son was on the concerta and got tics from it and when he was taken off of it, about 6 months later the tic had dissapeared completely. im confused it wasnt overlapping anything and this whole military time thing stinks maybe there should be a choice to do the military time and those like myself whos illiterite to how it really works because i know military time but the whole not letting me put 2:00 (am) to 11:00 (am) it would not let me.
My daughter is nearly 11 years old and has been taking Concerta (now on 36mg) since March. The doctor recommended a switch to Strattera for the reason that it works 24 hours (Concerta is effective for only 12 hours) and will help my daughter concentrate more. I have no idea whether Strattera is a better alternative, can anyone tell me if this is true?
I can see being on V and perhaps adderall in the late after noon. Or concerta and ritalin in the late afternoon. Since the Concerta/ritalin are the same type of meds. Same thing for Vyvannse and Adderall.
Point being, why was the V not working for you? What symptoms did you have. I would think that the two could have been over dosing you. Did you ever try just V alone?
