Concerta and tenex

Common Questions and Answers about Concerta and tenex

concerta

Avatar f tn t know about abilify he has also been on concerta, adderall, metadate, ritalin and focalin he had reactions to all those especially the focalin he started hallucinating so now he just takes the risperdal and he also takes tenex at night.
Avatar n tn Aderall and Ritalin were a bust. We switched to Tenex which worked much better - took away the hyperactivity and impulsivity - does nothing for inattentativeness. It mayhelp OCD because it is used for tic disorders which always have an OCD component.
Avatar f tn adderall and concerta both have seizures as a side effect along with other bad side effects, and so do all other medicines. you can to see if it is worth the risk. Have you tried taken vitamins like omega 3 and vitamins b6. most drugs ware off. best of luck to you.
Avatar f tn MY SON HAS BEEN ON CONCERTA FOR 7YRS AND IT IS WONDERFUL HE HAS ADHD. MY DAUGHTER HAS ADHD AND ODD, CONCERTA GAVE HER TICS AND FINALLY I FOUND A GREAT DOCTOR AND SHE TOOK HER OFF STIULANTS AND THEY ARE ALL GONE SHE IS NOW ON TENEX AND IS A NEW CHILD. SOMETIME IT IS JUST TRIAL AND ERA TILL YOU FIND THE RIGHT DRUG, AS YOU COULD SEE WITH MY DAUGHTER, AND BELIEVE ME WE TRIED ABOUT 10 OR MORE TILL WE GOT IT RIGHT.
Avatar f tn My 9 year old son has been on 18mg of Concerta for three years now and it's been great for him. Unlike Ritalin, Concerta is taken only once in the morning so it starts to wear off in time for dinner and definately on time for going to bed. The problem with Ritalin seems to be that it's a difficult come down and makes going to sleep at night very uncomfortable. Concerta has been great for my son.
Avatar n tn If my ADHD son was on Tenex and now we've taken him off of it because of side effects; but we see mood swings, anger, depression, jealousy, angry words coming back once he was off of it, what would the next medication suggestion possibility be to replace it. He's on Adderall for ADHD but the above came back when he was on nothing, between Tenex and Adderall. He is five which complicates things.
Avatar n tn Yes, your son's reactions of being defiant and emotional are normal for a child with a learning or mood or anxiety disorder. Do keep in mind these disorders are the results of physical issues in the brain and are not caused from life experiences. By the way, I assume your son has been diagnosed with ADHD - the usual reason for the meds prescribed. I'm wondering if there might be more help for you on the ADD/ADHD forum. All the best ...
Avatar f tn he just started taking tenex and i dont know how safe it is. hes kinda acting strange, i think! i dont want to give him something that might hurt him. please help me!!!!!
Avatar n tn I believe that my child has a behavorial issue. She has emotional outbursts and loses her temper really easy. If she gets upset, there is nothing we can do to snap her out of it. Sometimes I do something to distract her and she forgets that she was mad. She says mean things to her sister and grandmother. If she gets in the "zone" nothing I tell her phases her. She will not follow directions and does not care if she gets spanked.
Avatar f tn ve never heard of it being used for withdrawal, but it makes sense. Anxiety and high bp are all symptoms, and tenex will take care of the anxiety-related adrenaline bursts and associated rise in blood pressure. And no, tenex is not addicting.
Avatar f tn is tenex safe for my 9 year old? This discussion is related to Tenex use for mood stabilization.
Avatar n tn since sunday he has been very irritable and aggressive, with very frequent outburst of screaming constantly, hitting himself in the head and bitting, pinching, hitting, kicking, pushing, and scratching himself and others...the tenex kicks in some we can tell but he truly acts like he can not control it and seems like withdrawl from the risperdal which his dr did not tell us to taper off of it at all...we are worried please help!
Avatar f tn It is my understanding that it is harder to get Tenex and Stratera dosages right and the probability of these medications working to control ADD is lower than the stimulant. I assume your daughter has a psychiatrist or "child development" pediatrician that takes care if your granchild. If they did not try the stimulant, talk to the doctor about trying Metadate CD if there is no other medical reasons to avoid Metadate. Good luck.
Avatar m tn my question is recently we have been perscribed tenex for him his ocd has took over his daily living and its breaking my heart, i think we tried tenex years ago and it did the reverse.. al adhd meds do the opposite on him, looking for users that know of or have tried tenex themselves on there child. for ocd. ty in advance.
Avatar n tn I just very recently read that Guanfacine (brand name Tenex, and the extended release Intuniv) may be something I could be looking into...do you have any other suggestions for drugs I should look into/research and mention to my doctor??? Please HELP!!! any useful input is VERY much appreciated!! My feedback and experience with meds ================================ Social anxiety: I first tried Paxil (high school) and that worked pretty good for the social anxiety.
Avatar m tn he wakes up just screaming and hitting and biting himself. throwing himself on the floor and can not calm himself down. he sees a lady at the specialty clinic but has really been no help. she put him on tenex but it is a sleeping aid. i have done almost everything to get answers and nothing is comming of this..
969557 tn?1314370614 My son was on concerta and adderall and they both can cause seizures. I would ask doctor to you for an egg and make sure you are not having seizures.Witch is a side effect to concerta and can not be reversed .They can only give you medicine to try and control the seizures. I wish we had never put my son on these medicines.
585414 tn?1288941302 Technically those medications are for my physical disability (which the Tenex was not working on as well as it should) but they serve as mood stabilizers as well (Clonidine is sometimes used for this officially). But yesterday going off the Tenex and starting the Clonidine there was a "rush" a feeling I don't enjoy because it signals the onset of mania. Today is a bit better. But I have to raise the medications at a scheduled titration.
Avatar f tn though it is too soon to tell i have more concerns than optimism when it comes to this medication because it does cause weight loss and loss of appetite and my son has alot of trouble keeping weight on as it is.
Avatar f tn My son was on Vyvanse and Clonodine for a long time and it was a life saver. He has ADHD and ODD as well. The doctor wanted to try Tenex. We did that for several weeks and I begged to go back on Clonodine. Tenex was awful for us! Clonodine is fantastic and helps him go to sleep at night! If anyone wants to chat, I'm in the same boat~ ***@**** My husband and I have very different coping mechanisms. Any input?
Avatar f tn Three weeks ago, the Psychiatrist added in Intuniv...OH MY GOSH...the Concerta and Intuniv were PERFECT....Great days at school and an amazing kid emerged...Then at the end of two weeks he developed a tic...This was so horrible...They were happening about 12 - 16 per minute. raised eyebrows, eyes rolling to back of the head, head tilt to the side and a humming sound. We called Psych. and Concerta was stopped. However a week later, the tics are still here...not as frequent...
1756970 tn?1314376733 hi, concerta ,and stratara, and all the others my doc put me on didn't come close to adderall. focalin worked to but was costly. adderall leavels your brain, and lets you be yourself. the way your supose to be.
Avatar m tn No diarrhea, no appearance of jaundice, generic geodon gave me beige stool before and and tried brand name geodon and side effect went away. Gonna get brand name guanfacine tenex and tenex won't cause biliary system problems.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Concerta for one year. This was to counteract the fatigue and sleepiness that I had been getting from taking Paxil for depression. Though Concertat was initially effective, it gradually became more of a detriment than help. It made me very irritable, unfocused, and moody. I have worked with my doctor to gradually phase concerta out from the 72m I was taking daily.
Avatar n tn We tried putting my 9 year old son (who has ADHD) on Concerta about a month ago and after about 4 days, he started frequently rolling his eyes involuntarily up and to the right. We took him off immediately, but the symptoms have persisted. I'm not sure if it was caused by the Concerta, as he'd previously been on it for a month about a year ago and did not display the eye rolling. Does anyone know if there is a correlation, and if this is something that will stop?
