Avatar f tn Three weeks ago, the Psychiatrist added in Intuniv...OH MY GOSH...the Concerta and Intuniv were PERFECT....Great days at school and an amazing kid emerged...Then at the end of two weeks he developed a tic...This was so horrible...They were happening about 12 - 16 per minute. raised eyebrows, eyes rolling to back of the head, head tilt to the side and a humming sound. We called Psych. and Concerta was stopped. However a week later, the tics are still here...not as frequent...
1575110 tn?1334664635 Hello, I also have adult ADD and I have tried both Concerta and Vyvanse. My doctor wanted me to try Concerta for a few weeks and I didn't like it at all. It didn't agree with me. It made it feel depressed and NOT motivated to do everyday things. I was on a 36 mg dose and when I went back to my doctor I told him I hated it. He mentioned that there is a new medication called Vyvanse and asked if I would like to try it. With nothing to lose, I said yes. I do like Vyvanse.
Avatar n tn s trying to become a human doctor), and he said that i really should slow down and not have so much anxiety. My heart rate thing started after i started concerta-but only after a year.
Avatar f tn s heart might be enlarged, and believes that it can be resolved by taking him off the concerta. I have an appointment with the specialist tomorrow.
Avatar n tn I just started taking Concerta (36 mg) and I immediately developed shingles. My doctor swears it's a coincidence, but after seeing your post I can't help but wonder. I had chicken pox as a child, but I've never had shingles before now. What happened in your case? I went to the doctor today and got neurontin and valtrex, but the doctor told me to keep taking the Concerta. I don't know what to do.
Avatar n tn Panic attacks and confusion with vomiting and irregular heart beat sent me to the ER twice. I spent 3 days in a psych ward because doctors thought me a danger to myself. They day I got out I popped another one. In fact, I got it out of my bag and popped it IN the psych ward. Anyway. after a scary night of chest pain, arm pain and more heart arrythmias, I threw out the pills. Told my psych doc NO MORE. I am done with drugging my poor heart and body like this.
Avatar m tn 8years old} with ADHD who is 5 years old and weighs normal weight for his age and he was started on concerta last week and that was the nedication and 18mg was the dose hebwas prescribed. 969557 tn?1314370614 My son was on concerta and adderall and they both can cause seizures. I would ask doctor to you for an egg and make sure you are not having seizures.Witch is a side effect to concerta and can not be reversed .They can only give you medicine to try and control the seizures. I wish we had never put my son on these medicines.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 5 years old and has ADHD. She recently went on the drug Concerta, then her PCP prescribed cetirizine as well for hay fever that I didn't even realize she had. On a routine cardiology check for the Concerta meds, the cardiologist discovered my daughter had PACs. The cardiologist took her off all of her meds for 10 days and did another EKG. She still had the PACs even off meds. Now my daughter is on atenolol 2 mL per day, Concerta, and cetirizine all together.
Avatar n tn Everyone i've spoken to about my heart rate being high in the morning (usually somewhere in the 100's sometimes) and palpitations and rapid rate when sitting sometimes, i've been told to see doctor and to ask for beta blockers or something. I take a stimulant for ADHD (Concerta 72 mg) and i don't want to change because the only one that's not a stimulant (Straterra) made me nauseaous and tired.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 5 years old and has ADHD. She recently went on Concerta, multivitamins, then her PCP prescribed cetirizine as well for hay fever that I didn't even realize she had. A month later, the PCP scheduled a cardiology check for the Concerta meds; the pediatric cardiologist discovered my daughter had PACs. None of the other doctors/nurses noticed the arrhythmias on previous exams which surprised the cardiologist.
Avatar n tn Thanks guys for all the input. I actually decided to go ahead and take the concerta, and it seems to have cleared up all my problems. 30 minutes after talking all my anxiety and depersonalization went away. Also for the first time in my life i felt like i actually enjoyed doing simple things and getting every day satisfaction out of it. Its my 3rd day that i've taken concerta and i've only had 1 problem which isnt really that bad and that was headaches.

Avatar f tn I have a 5 year old daughter who has recently been "kicked out" of pre-school for aggression. My husband & I have taken her to therapy and we are now trying medication (Concerta 36mg). Nothing seems to be working and the aggression is worsening. I love my baby girl and it is breaking my heart to see her so unhappy all the time. We are doing everything that is recommended in therapy (behavior charts, ect) and still no progress.
Avatar m tn After I had the heart ablation I have had an EKG, echo and heart MRI... all show everything is fine except for the slow heart rate. I have tried Concerta 54 mgs which has raised my resting heart rate from the 40s to the 60s and that has helped a lot but its controlled, expensive, a real pain to keep filling every 30 days. Can anyone recommend anything else? I'm not so bad to actually need a pacemaker yet.. but being tired all the time has really hurt my quality of life.
Avatar n tn ve been on concerta for about 3 years now and my dr recently perscribe me with 5mg of ritalin. I take 2 18mg of concerta a day and 1-2 mg in the evening if I need an extra boost to do my hw. Ur story sound almost identical to what happened to me this past november. I took my 18mg like I usually do in the morning. that evening I planned to go to a friends house to get some hw done. Around 5pm I took 4 5mg of my ritlin. Big mistake.
Avatar m tn Ever since two years ago, I've had palpitations and irregular heart rythms that doctors ruled out as stress for being a highschool student. However this year was a little different, my heart symptoms got a little worse causing me to feel dizzy, short of breath, and even have feelings of blacking out. I went to a physician who took an EKG and a holter monitor. The results came back as a slight irregularity in my heart.
Avatar f tn I have been looking on here today- i was originally looking for info for my newly diagnose narcolepsy- to take provigal( which is wayyy expensive) or go to concerta, but anyway,, as i have been reading i have seen so many people that have panic attacks and hypothyoridism,, is there a connection somewhere?
Avatar m tn In addition I am tapering off diazepam and down to 2mg in the morning and 1 at night. Everytime I try to get off the concerta I get terrible anxiety from it. I have it to a degree while on it also. I want off but my dr who takes 3 weeks to get into anyway, won’t switch me to a med I can taper off of. I know 3 weeks is a short time compared to what most of you have been through. But can someone please tell me how long my withdrawals are going to last??
Avatar n tn Anxiety can increase the heart rate considerably if you are concentrated on how fast your heart is beating and it can lead to even a faster heart rate if you get a rush of fear throughout your body. Hope all is well, and try to relax...
Avatar f tn hes very sorry for hes behavior and will ask me mom why am i bad i wanna be good. my heart just breaks/ but i dont know what he has or why his doing this!

Avatar m tn I have been taking Concerta for one year. This was to counteract the fatigue and sleepiness that I had been getting from taking Paxil for depression. Though Concertat was initially effective, it gradually became more of a detriment than help. It made me very irritable, unfocused, and moody. I have worked with my doctor to gradually phase concerta out from the 72m I was taking daily.
Avatar n tn We tried putting my 9 year old son (who has ADHD) on Concerta about a month ago and after about 4 days, he started frequently rolling his eyes involuntarily up and to the right. We took him off immediately, but the symptoms have persisted. I'm not sure if it was caused by the Concerta, as he'd previously been on it for a month about a year ago and did not display the eye rolling. Does anyone know if there is a correlation, and if this is something that will stop?
