617441 tn?1221176206 By all means give them fish oil and maybe it will help in the long run, but please do not allow someone to coerce you into believing that fish oil is better than science. Accupuncture, kinoki foot pads, and intestinal flushes are all a wash and I put fish oil into that group.
Avatar f tn Try Fish oil and Vit B Complex with antioxidants and Vit C known to have the same efficacy as Ritalin. There are a lot of Natural ways to help your children out there.
Avatar f tn Make sure that she gets lots of sleep (over 10 hours), exercise outside, vitamins, fish oil (Omegas), and clean diet (fresh food, not preservatives in the food and no artificial coloring). I am not a doctor and this not an expert opnion. Good luck.
Avatar f tn how does a lack of magnesium affect the body?, im trying a natural approach for adhd/nld (similiar to asperger's) he is on fish friends which has epa and dha. mutlivitamins and still prozac which is cut down from 10mg to 5mg to wean him off, he was on concerta 36mg for adhd, clonidine .1mg to help with sleep and prozac10mg to combat severe side effects, then after starting prozac. he was chewing on the inside of his lower lip so bad, 2 weeks later and he now has two scars..
Avatar n tn My nephew had ADHD and other issues like that as a child. My sisters doctor told her to put him on a good carb, high fat (olive oil, fish oil, etc) diet and it turned it around within months he was much better and never had to go on any of the medications that were suggested. I know it may be difficult but whole foods are the answer, he could really be allergic to something that he was eating with the pediatriacian said was most likely the case.
Avatar f tn The one thing that has helped my son was Vitamins B6 and Omega 3 with fish oil in them once a day.he seems to be able to do his work better with his teacher witch comes to my home for 2 hours after School because he cant go to school right now.The doctors also put him on blood pressure pills to help him not be so stress out. look at everything that you can that runs on both sides of the family if you can.
944223 tn?1245869858 If it gets worse than you can handle, go back on the last dose of Paxil you were on and taper more slowly. But as I say, you might at this point want to just try the fish oil and get plenty of exercise, since it sounds like a mild withdrawal.
Avatar n tn After a year of trying the diet changes and fish oil, the problems were only intensifing. He would not hesitate to lash out in a violent manner toward anyone who stood in his way. Whether that be his brothers, me or complete strangers. He has no regard for any one elses feelings or even dangers to himself. We could no longer go to the park, church, field trips, or basically anywhere in public.
Avatar n tn Not a doctor but know that ADHD can be treated with whole foods and higher fat diets of olive oil, fish oil, and other good oils. Honestly, it could be something that the child is allergic to that she is eating unbeknownst to all of you.... I had a friend who recently tried an elimination diet and slowly added foods back that she eats regularly, she found out that she was allergic to wheat, rhy, some flour products, sweeteners, etc. that were causing the ADHD symptoms...
Avatar n tn So now they take their concerta and risperdal at 7 am every morning and at 7 pm they take one more risperdal pill and life is so much better in our home now .
944223 tn?1245869858 I have heard other who have been through this talk about the Brain Zaps, you will be okay if you come off the Meds try some supplememnts like ViT B Complex and Vit C also fish oil.
Avatar n tn I have put my whole family on a very natural diet. We take high quality fish oil and have removed all sugar and processed foods from our diet. It has taken a little time but it is well worth it. My son was on 45 mg of concerta a day and he is now down to 10mg and he is doing fabulous. We did not inform the school or any family members outside of the home of our changes. None of them have noticed a difference. We have also spent a lot of time in prayer over this.
Avatar n tn If it were me, I would probably avoid the Salmon oil and use a different kind of fish oil. Carlson had a great one and I can tolerate it well, I have all kinds of allergies, but, this is good for me to take.
Avatar n tn My husband has hep c and cirrhosis, and currently takes 1760mg of fish oil per day at the recommendation of his hepatologist. It was recommended for him because of elevated triglycerides and was deemed safe even though he has low platelets. Of course, always discuss any medications, including supplements, with your doctor.
374933 tn?1291081784 I have graves and thyroid eye diease and flaxseed oil works better for me than fish oil. I take it everyday and it seems to help, also staying hydrated is really important. And if I am good not drinking helps...but sometimes you just need the wine.
Avatar n tn I have very dry skin, which has been worse since I've been having thyroid problems - I had been taking flaxseed oil, but the doctor suggested that I try fish oil instead (3000 mg/ day), as it's more easily absorbed. It made a real difference - for the better :-) You should probably ask your doctor, but if they have no objections, it could be quite helpful.
Avatar f tn I have tried different brands of fish oil on different occassions as well as my husband. I wished I could take it for the health benefits; but, in our case, it causes digestive upset such as bloating and gas. So, I've replaced fish oil with flax seed oil and we do not experience the gas and bloating we had with fish oil. In my case, I feel much better on flax seed oil, emotionally as well as physically.
Avatar f tn My bf is freaking out at me for not taking the fish oil, when I was taking it I used to burp up fish taste all the time and ended up puking which was even stronger fish taste. My doc said omega is important, and I don't like eating fish..any other suggestions?
Avatar m tn Actually, two things: If you're not allergic to krill oil, it is touted to be the superior form of animal based omega three oil. Second, all people should ideally use krill oil or fish oil everyday indefinitely. If you're able to take the krill oil, use that one. I've learned that fish oil can be rancid without one actually knowing this, whereas, krill oil doesn't have this tendency so much.
Avatar n tn Has anyone else experienced a dramatic increase in the number of PVCs associated with taking a fish oil supplement? I started taking a cod liver oil supplemnt about 6 weeks ago and have noticed a huge increase in my PVCs. Over the past few years I have hardly noticed my PVCs - having maybe only a couple skipped beats per hour. But since i started the fish oil supplement, my PVCs have increased to the point where last week I was having 4-5 PVCs every minute, that is, every few beats.
Avatar m tn Someone posted on another site that they had seen in a study a lonk between PVcs increasing and fish oil? I find this fascinating because I DID increase my fish oil consumption a couple of months ago andhave recently gone through a REALLY BAD bout of PVcs. I am very careful about the other stuff like caffeine, alcohol, etc. Has ANYBODY heard about this? Thanks and be well.
Avatar f tn "I've read that fish oil supplements can raise your FBS and shouldn't be taken by diabetics." Tell us where you read this; magazine, book or link? I'd like to see how they conducted their testing and whether or not it was on humans, not lab mice/rats. Always read the nutrition label carefully. Also make sure you're not allergic to seafood products like shellfish which some fish oil contain. Fish oil does not raise blood sugar levels.
1319721 tn?1276040968 It is like comparing night and day. Many people think krill oil and fish oil are the same. This is a common misconception. Both fish oil and krill oil contain Omega 3 fatty acids. These fatty acids have been shown to possibly reduce the risk of heart disease. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration stopped just short of stating that Omega 3 fatty acids conclusively reduced the risk of heart disease. It was enough though, to fuel a craze about fish oil.
Avatar n tn It is one of the side effects of Ritalin perhaps you should ask your Doctor for a new evaluation of the Med, if you ever decide to let him be on Natural Remedies, it has been shown in studies that food supplements have the same efficacy as Ritalin and a Muliple Vitamin-mineral with B Complex and Vit C also Fish oil, would be good, a lot of Parents are trying this now and their children and not getting the bad side effects that Ritalin and the other meds have.
