cozaar

1008841 tn?1293598960 There was a recent thread on this forum regarding fibrosis regression and blood pressure drugs (specifically Cozaar, Losartan, etc. the ARB class). If you look back over the past month this thread should be available. There are a variety of related comments in the thread. I got on Cozaar for my tx induced high BP specifically for this reason! I had read studies about Cozaar being beneficial for ED, Fibrosis, and depression...
Avatar m tn I notice that the Express Script drug I now use is made by Apotex whereas the original Walgreen brand was Cozaar. I went back to Walgreens and asked the pharmacist if there was any chance that the Apotex was inferior/impotent to the Cozaar for some reason. She assured me that could not be the case and that there could be no difference. Losartan is Losartan is Losartan. As an experiment(with GP consensus), I doubled my dose of Apotex Losartan from 50 to 100 mg a day for one week.
Avatar n tn my pharmacey was out of cozaar and they gave me losartan,.
Avatar n tn OK, I just looked it up. Losartan alone, also known as Cozaar does not have a diuretic. But Losartan with HCTZ is also known as Hyzaar. Don't assume yours has the diuretic in it. Ask the pharmacist.
Avatar m tn You have probably seen me mention this before in other threads, but the ARB class hypertensive drugs (Cozaar, Losartan, etc.) are not only showing great promise for reversing fibrosis, and are being actively studied in that regard...but they have also condicted studies showing significant impact on Erectile Dysfunction (which is frequently a consequence of HCV and/or tx).
Avatar m tn Cozaar or losartan is ARB, that's right, it is more preferred than ACE inhibitors since it does not cause side effect particularly cough. I am taking cozaar too ;D another is maybe you become tachycardic because as we urinate (which is because sodium excretion is promoted by cozaar), blood volume decreases, as a result , increase in HR occur to compensate in low blood volume by trying to pump more blood. that's the reason i think behind the tachycardia thing.
Avatar n tn I tried to talk to my husbands P.A. about Losartan (Cozaar) and she just kind of blew me off. If we actually got to see the Dr., he would probably discuss it with us but she doesn't even want to hear about it. Joe has esophageal varicies and Nadolol is what they think is best. I read a study that showed an increase in platelets and albumin levels and subjects with liver disease. I will be watching the news on this.
Avatar f tn Just wanted to know if losartan(Cozaar) is the best option for an alcoholic with gout and high blood pressure? Of course, the best scenario would be to completely delete alcohol out of the equation, but it is not an option at this time for the person involved.
Avatar m tn They initially wanted to put me on Lisinopril, but I was on that previously and I had a terrible, nagging cough the entire time. I've read that ACE Inhibitors are preferable to ARBs, though, when it comes to CHF. Should I try another ACE, or would all of them be likely to cause a cough since the Lisinopril did? Or is the Cozaar good enough? (Some places even suggest taking an ACE along with an ARB...is that a good idea?) Blood Thinners: Should I be taking one?
Avatar m tn Before the Losartan, I was taking 90 mgs of Armour (which is T3 AND T4) daily. After just a few weeks on the Losartan, I became hyperthyroid for a while, and my doctor lowered my dose of Armour (down to 60.) I have not noticed heat intolerance, but I am losing weight--slowly (which I don't mind as I am about 20 lbs over bikini-wearing level.) Never heard of the Marshall protocol, but I'm going to look it up!
Avatar n tn uk - A blood-pressure medicine, losartan (Cozaar®), has been shown to reverse the effects of early-stage liver failure in some patients, possibly through decreasing the effects of NF-kB in the body. Newcastle University researchers analysed a small clinical trial of losartan, a drug normally prescribed for hypertension, on 14 patients in Spain, who had Hepatitis C.
Avatar f tn ve been on 2 medications ever since, Carvedilol (Coreg) 6.25mg; and Losartan Potassium ( Cozaar ) 50mg. My condition was caused by heavy drinking ( Alcohol ). I've been sober for 21 months now, ever since I was diagnosed. I'm so happy and relieved that my doctor says that it getting better. I'm feeling better, because the medication are working for me. My concern is, will my heart. Enlargement go back to normal size?
Avatar m tn I’ve been getting Inderal (Propranolol), Cozaar (Losartan), Atorvastatin, Omeprazole, Aciclovir (Acyclovir) and declaring them every trip. No problems! Rx isn’t required. You will not be able to purchase DEA regulated meds, i.e. Oxycodone, etc. Be smart and don’t even ask or talk to a salesperson about them.
543518 tn?1245322027 Someone posted some information on a study done in Spain on how Losartan (Cozaar) and shown some success in help with liver fibrosis, so I read it and it is very interesting. From that article I searched NF-kB and it got very technical after that. My understanding is that NF-kB is instrumental in helping to replicate inflammatory cells even in hep c and b to keep it chronic and is also found in cancer cells.
Avatar m tn I am also using Cozaar for the BP specifically because it has been shown to potentially decrease fibrosis, and have some effect on ED, and mood! Pretty interesting drug. You will see some recent threads on Cozaar (Losartan), and its effect on fibrosis. By taking this particular class of BP drugs, you may be able to 'kill two birds with one stone', or three or four even!
543518 tn?1245322027 From acupuncture, botox, chiropratic, massage therapy, hypnois, vitamins, herbal remedies, high blood pressure medications, tryphans, antiseizures meds, ice and lavender and nothing works but a pain med or shot. Believe me I have gone without any pain meds, over the counter or prescriptions because I was being cautious about the "rebound effect." I keep a regular sleep pattern.
1008841 tn?1293598960 I have Thrombosis in my right portal vein. But, my BP is pretty low usually and my pulse rate is already so slow that I'm afraid sometimes my heart will just stop. But, what I really wondered about is that BP Med.that I've heard actually helps reverse Fibrosis in the liver. I thought I might suggest that to her but I can't remember the name. Can anyone help me.

Avatar n tn Losartan also may cause a persistent cough, increase serum potassium, impotence, and angioedema. Losartan may reduce kidney function in some patients and should not be used by patients who have bilateral renal artery stenosis (narrowing of both arteries going to the kidneys). Rare cases of rhabdomyolysis (muscle breakdown) have been reported.
Avatar m tn Study was done in Barcelona coincidentally I have been taking Hyzaar for about 2 years and took Cozaar for about 3 months. I am so computer ignorant I can't do a link, easily googled. Just thought you guys may be interested is anyone else on a angiotensin for HTN? no MD ever told me of the potential benefits I don't think they knew. I was reading a prison research on the increased incidence of HCV in prisons when I found out.
Avatar n tn I've been taking cozaar 100mg and amiloretic for 3 months I have stopped it for 4 days now my feet ankles are swollen and I have mild headaches
Avatar m tn I opted for the RAI (3 months ago) and I take cozaar (6 months now) and in these last 3 weeks I am suffering from muscle fatigue, muscle cramps if I stretch them too quickly or exercise them. Could the cozaar be causing the problem or is the disease the problem or both?
Avatar f tn s, kidney scans and urine samples, so I was put on 50 mg of Losartan- atid a day, got a machine for the upper arm and everything has been normal since then (I measure everyday). My mother has had hypertension for about 10 years now, but her measurements weren't as high and she gets it from being obese.
Avatar f tn Hallo there -anyone and everyone. Is there any reasons to prefer or take losartan above olmesartan or the olmesartan above losartan. Person taking these is african, 57 years, female and oh, my mother.
Avatar m tn I have experienced excessive anxiety, agitation and sound sensitivity when (accidentally) double dosing Losartan. Long story, but I (for possibly weeks) was taking 200mg per day instead of my prescribed 100mg per day. ---I basically went NUTS!! I am doing better at my prescribed dose but am getting more and more suspicious of all meds in general. For instance-time released bupropion ruined my life for a while but changing to immediate release bupropion did not have the negative side-effects.
Avatar m tn yes it is but the price is about 50-100usd per month instead of about 700-1000usd per month since there is so much competition of many brands in india so drug makers can t make same prices and must adapt to local market prices baraclude lost patent recently so another brand from israel may be available worldwide soon of course at much cheaper price
