Avatar f tn I'm hoping someone can help me. I had community acquired pneumonia at Christmas 15 for the first time which required 2 nights hospital stay. Prior to this if not had any real health issues, ex social smoker ie maybe 2/3 cigarettes every couple of weeks for about 8 years until about 13 months ago. 7 months later I got pneumonia again (still recovering now 3 weeks later).
Avatar f tn I plan to! Did for over a year with my first! I love that it is the one thing mommy can provide that no one else can. Plus the excuse to sit down and snuggle is awesome!
Avatar m tn Hi, I am a 22 year old woman, I don`t smoke, I was treated with levaquin for community acquired pneumonia for a little more than a month (horrible side effects), I was in the hospital 3 times, for 5 days in two of them (the second one was a relapse) and only ER the third one. What is unnusual for me is that the last hospital diagnosed me acute bronchitis and the other ones pneumonia,(the gap between the 2nd and the third hospital was 2 weeks, is this logical???).

Avatar n tn and a lack of air movement in my lower left lung. She diagnosed me with community acquired pneumonia. I was prescribed Robitussin with codeine to help me sleep, although all it really did was tire me slightly. After another week of feeling completely miserable I started to breath better, my nose dried out, and my cough produced less and less green mucus. Sleeping then was hard, but I was able to take my meds, settle down, sleep for about two hours, wake up again from coughing and repeat.
Avatar m tn If that is correct, the course of your illness is consistent with what is called, Community Acquired Pneumonia (CAP -- pneumonia acquired when not hospitalized). There are many causes of pneumonia (bacteria, fungi, viruses, chemical or organic irritants) and, even with extensive bacteriologic testing the specific cause is often not determined. The information you have provided, including the imaging studies (X-ray and CT) provides no clues as to the cause of your pneumonia.
Avatar n tn Your description indicates that you definitely have acute bronchitis and probably have community acquired pneumonia. The green phlegm suggests that the infection is bacterial and would almost certainly be responsive to an antibiotic. The wheezing could be due to the bronchitis and/or aggravation of underlying asthma, but in either case, it is an indicator that the infection is compromising your respiration and that too is serious.
Avatar m tn Headache (see Nexium Headaches) Diarrhea Nausea Flatulence Abdominal (stomach) pain Constipation Dry mouth Emerging evidence indicates that PPI therapy, particularly with long-term and/or high-dose administration, is associated with several potential adverse effects, including enteric infections (eg, Clostridium difficile), community-acquired pneumonia, and hip fracture, all of which have received much attention recently.
Avatar f tn For oral thrush and vaginal a doctor may want to try something else. Was your Staph aureus acquired in the community or did you get it from a hospital or nursing home? The treatment can be different depending on where you got it to start with? I will assume community acquired until you tell me otherwise. For boils, and furuncles they sometimes just surgically incise or open the boil and let it drain and that is the primary way to treat it.
Avatar f tn As the presidential campaign unfolds, the differences in approaches to Medicare by President Barack Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney have taken center stage. But what is getting far less scrutiny: Romney's plans for Medicaid. He would convert the health care program for the poor, disabled and elderly into a block grant to the states and sharply reduce funding over time.
Avatar m tn ll my dad had lacunar stroke on right side of brain Oct 17 2013 . He is paralyzed on left side. He was walking with walker nov 2 2013 but nov 27 he got pneumonia and his heart got irregular. He had a critical troponin result that day. Now he has a half inch bed sore and he is kinda giving up. Avatar m tn I read that acquired immunity means that the DNA of all cells has undergone changes. So, if my mother had a certain disease and survived, he body should know how to fight the pathogen and all cells her body creates carry this immunity, right? So I should be immune to that disease? Or wikipedia forgot to mention that it is only the immune system's cells whose DNA changes as a response... Is there another mechanism to inherit specific immunity acquired by parents? Thank you!
Avatar f tn Hi, you're asking how to take Plan B the termination pill because being pregnant the second time right after giving birth would be REALLY unwelcome. Well, you need to talk to your doctor about a couple of things. First, if you are nursing, can you take Plan B. You most likely can but I'd double check. Hormones are involved in breast milk production and Plan B is a big dose of hormones.
Avatar f tn My son is 7 years old and has had pneumonia twice in the last 2 years. The second time they told me it returned in the exact same spot. They told me to have another xray in 6 weeks. Hes otherwise a healthy boy what would cause it to return in the same spot. I know there are probably many causes but what comes to mind?
Avatar n tn My brother has had pneumonia 3 times in the past 6 months (October, November, & February). In October, his symptoms began with what doctors thought was pericarditis, which I'm assuming lead to pneumonia, respitory failure, septic shock, and kidney damage. He was hospitalized at the time for a total of 8 days most of which were spent in the ICU.
Avatar f tn Hi Karyn, thank you so much. I'm sorry so late. Yesterday I was in 3hr meeting with Dr.s, then stayed with my Dad. It's so hard absorbing all the medical info even though I write it all down. Besides the pneumonia he now also has a staph infection in his lungs. I thought staph infections were hospital acquired but Dr's say no? & he could've had at nursing home (where he has been living for over a year doing great).
93532 tn?1349370450 While I haven't had requests for this, I think it would be a good idea if we brought in a tracker for the Breastfeeding community. This can help the mom's track ounces pumped, time spent nursing, number of feeds, etc. I believe given the nature of breast milk, we would need either a combination for ounces and feeds or separate trackers. We cannot gauge ounces if we don't pump but we need to track how often and how long we feed.

Avatar n tn ve encountered a case in which a 5-day old puppy was brought in the clinic with hemoptysis, I concluded that it was aspiration pneumonia because the puppy was only been nursed by the owner... We immediately administered antibiotics and wasn't able to put on IV fluids due to the small size of the puppy, we tried administering oral fluids, but it doesn't work well.... after an hour, the puppy died and coughed a lot of blood....
