Avatar f tn I just saw a new doctor and he believes the Citalopram is causing my weight gain. I have been on it for about 18 months. I am now taking half a pill of Citalopram in order to wean myself off of it. My doctor then prescribed me Bupropion HCL (take twice a day). He says that should help with weight loss. Has anyone had good experiences with Bupropion? Did you gain weight on Citalopram? Thanks!!!
Avatar f tn I was on it for about a year 3 years ago. I loved it! The only side effects were dry mouth and weight loss(not a negative). About 5 months ago my doctor put me on citalopram which made me feel like a zombie and I started gaining weight so we decided to switch to the wellbutrin. I have been on the wellbutrin for about 7 weeks now and off the citalopram for a little over 1 week. Im having a completely different experience than I did before.
2217782 tn?1394363972 This is just a query really. Recently my mum has been really getting on my case about my meds, that I should get off them and that they are responsible for my weight gain - a touchy subject for me since I suffer from EDs. I know that the side effects of both Wellbutrin and Citalopram are weight loss so I don't really see what she's getting at, especially when my Citalopram addresses my anxiety which is pretty important.
Avatar f tn Hi I switched from Fluoxetine to Citalopram about 6 months ago as the Fluoxetine was making me gain weight. Since I've been on Citalopram I've put on even more, and am now about 2 stone (14kg) heavier than I was before I started. I don't want to come off ADs as they're helping me so much, but at the same time I don't know if I can cope with any more weight gain. Has anyone experienced weight gain with certain antidepressants then been able to lose with a different one?
Avatar f tn im coming off prozac and intend to come off anything except lithium. Im afraid that i will have severe mood swings when i do this but i need to get my life back, i sleep most of the day because of fatigue and i need to lose weight! any advice please? be well.
Avatar n tn He gave me a Prescription for Wellbutrin, will this help with the weight loss? Will I be able to the weight or does it permanently change your metabolism? Now that I am over weight it is not helping with my self image. I do feel I need some medication to help with my anxiety is this a good choice? Are the side effects minimal?
Avatar n tn They took 12 days to work me off citalopram. By the way about that time I finally got in to see and ENT doctor. Turns out I lost a little bit of hearing in my left ear and the feelings I was having in the inner ear was normal for the ear to go through from loss of some hearing. That will subside eventually they say. My question is I think I am having withdraw symtoms from coming of the citalopram. The wild feelings I have been having are described to the T on the blogs I have read.
Avatar n tn I am taking citalopram, wellbutrin and phentermine My weight is going up and I am sweating all the time. is it because of this combo of meds? What can I take for weight loss?.
Avatar n tn I gained 6 pounds in the first 6 weeks and a total of 10 in 2 months. I was on the Nutrisysem 1500 calories a day plan. I had been losing about 2 pounds a week for a month and suddenly started gaining. I couldn't figure out why and the only thing that changed in my lifestyle was that I began taking Propanolol for my migraines which caused me to look it up. I am not a doctor but what else could it be?

Avatar f tn Hi Yvonne I came off an SSRI too quickly and have suffered palpitations for seven months and counting !! Avatar f tn Hi, I was started on nefazadone hydrochloride years ago, worked well but was withdrawn from the market, citalopram for about 12 years, weight gain and few other side effects. stopped working. Escitalopram gave me fast hearbeat as did trazadone, Setraline fast or slow and irreg heartbeat. Never considered effexor xr/venlafaxine as i was so put off with the reviews of weight gain and the awful discontinuation symptoms. Prozac was great but major weight gain in two months.
Avatar f tn One, there are side effects while getting on and coming off medications like these and two, I was already nervous about taking it, so anything I felt out of the ordinary, I probably attributed to the medication when it might not have been related at all. Are you also in counseling? In my opinion, these medications are a good tool to use while you learn about confronting your anxiety....
Avatar f tn I went to doctors and explained the side effects of citalopram, tha tive put over 3 stone on within 2 years and no sex drive whats so ever. and she told me that i could change to wellbutrin as the european union wont give them a licence to prescribe it, so that was out for me. I asked her what can be done and she said that her main goal was sorting my attacks out, ( which i can understand) and doctors dont worry about our dress size that is cosmetic she said. I was appauled.
1110049 tn?1409402144 I take it, but a low dose as I started tapering off a long long time ago and had to stop because of health problems that keep coming and I don't want to be in withdrawal facing them. It hasn't worked for me, but it was a long shot since my biggest problem now is what quitting Paxil did to me -- I didn't take it before that. It's a lot like Lexapro, but for me the side effects are actually fewer but of the same nature.
Avatar f tn I've been on it for about 3 1/2 yrs, and got pregnet within the first year I was on it. My highest dose was 80mgs and never had a weight problem, my highest weight was 135-140. At nine months preg. I was up to 265mgs and was all belly and gained 28pnds. After I had her I blew up to 204pnds and ever since then I've been coming down. My Daughter will be 2yrs old May 15th. I lost about 15pnds last summer, and I've been doing everything, to lose it.
Avatar m tn My psychiatrist is leery of taking me off of saphris, but now I am so miserable and my depression is coming back anyways. ANy suggestions? Oh I heard from a friend that Risperdal is a good "booster" for other anti-depressants.
Avatar f tn Hey I'm 20 and have been on citalopram for a year and a half, I have decided to come off it because of the fatigue it caused which is not good for student life generally, also the loss of interest in sex is not great either. I think I do need to be on antidepressants at the moment. But citalopram wasn't for me. I realise all antidepressants have side effects but I was wondering if any missed out the 2 I mentioned above.
