ve recently had an asthma attack due to spring pollen and other related environmental condition that increase during this season. I take a Combivent inhaler as a rescue treatment for my asthma. The problem at this point is that is a provides short relief and has choked me to the point of passing out. Could you please tell me what is causing this reaction. What would be a better method and inhaler.

If you are an asthma patient, the use of anticholenergics like ipatropium and Spiriva for therapy is increasing. You could have a doctor on the cutting edge.
Bottom line, Advair and Spiriva are safe to use together as daily therapy, but you also need a rescue inhaler.

The answer is complicated. The reason for giving these medications sequentially, is that they have different effects. By giving one med before the other the optimal medicinal performance is obtained with a minimum of medication. There is a difference of opinion regarding this issue. My brain is foggy, but that is how it was explained to me a long time ago by a very knowledgable R.N. Ocassionally there are side effects, and mixing the drugs does not hold well for figuring out the problem.
i have done salt therapies in past , many kinds of therapies like halotherapy , silinetherapy , speleotherapy , they gave me great benefit for asthma , by passing 101 days in a salt cave reduces my asthma that I was feeling that I have new lungs , that was amazing !!!!

My asthma inhaler Combivent was causing the hives. I have no problem with albuterol; it was the ipratropium bromide in Combivent causing the hives. I now stay away from any inhaler (like Spiriva) containing similar bromide components.
Also check meds you take for sulphur. I can tell a new med contains sulphur when my hands itch like crazy from hives.
I am also IGA deficient (immunoglobulin A deficient). Which explains why I seem to catch every cold and flu going around.
My pulmonary specialist just gave me an Advair Diskus and increased my Albuterol breathing treatments to 4-6 daily and my Combivent Inhaler every 4 hours. I almost died from an asthma attack last weekend. I had emergency heart surgery in June and have been having arrhythmias so I'm on a heart monitor for this month. I understand that Advair causes heart palpitations. Since I'm already having trouble with my heartbeat, I'm afraid to try the Advair.
recently diagnosed with COPD/emphysema. hospitalized three times: finally determined that i'm allergic to sulfate based albuterol, combivent, all of the usual "suspects." i'm now on advair (one week= 115 ) and doing okay - except the only rescue inhaler i can tolerate is primotene mist. just took an oximeter test - came out 86-87. i think it's too soon to go on oxygen, until we see if advair works. but i worry about the advair too.
My asthma medicin is combivent inhaler. I also take a diaretic and blood pressure meds. my doc took me off linsinopril and put me on benicar, and prednisone to stop itching. it hasnt worked at all. It has been very poor air quality in california due to all of our fire, and she says I could be allergic to some of the particulates in the smoke. I have been putting Sarna Lotion on the itchy spots, belly legs back and arms, which alleviates some of the irritation but not for very long.
I was just curious, when u were diagnosed with Phneumonia, were you put on any kind of inhaler like ADVAIR ?? The reason im wondering is because alot of times certain inhalers will mess with your tongue such as making it numb and swollen, making it wierd colors, or sometimes even ooze out puss and phlem, A few of the inhalers that will do this unless you rinse your mouth out after every actuation are, Combivent, Flovent, ADVAIR or even some nose sprays that hit the back of your tongue.
I have been using Combivent for about a month together with Asmanex to treat my cough-variant asthma and have had pretty good results. However, the first inhalation of Combivent always triggers a major coughing spell (sometimes it's so severe I almost vomit or my ribs hurt). Are there other bronchodilators that might be easier to inhale and still be effective? Or would using a nebulizer help? I've heard there can be adverse side effects with a nebulizer.
I was using something called Combivent which made me cough every time I sprayed. My pulmonologist asked if I were using a "spacer" attached to the inhaler. Of course, neither she nor the pharmacy had offered one to me. Instead, I switched to QVAR which is much more effective and lasts longer than 4 or 6 hours. The down side is that QVAR is a steroid; however, I have yet to notice any negative side effects after about 3 years of use.
Then if she has to go out and needs a little extra something to get her through it, she will use a proventil inhaler. There are different medications for COPD. Find the one that works best for you. My mom liked combivent to add to her treatments, but she can't afford it anymore.
If you have heart issues, that will affect you breathing also. To strengthen the heart and help the arteries, look into taking hawthorn 2 or three times a day.
I am relatively new to the use of an inhaler and have trouble telling when they are empty, full, or even working. Four evenings ago I started a knew inhaler and ended up using them both an estimated 6 treatments. The 1st day after this I experienced intense heartburn. I dont usually get heartburn and have never experienced this extreme discomfort. Blamed it on the pizza we had eaten.
I gave him his regular meds of flovent and singular, I also gave him 2 puffs from his albuterol inhaler. He is now asking for his breathing treatment which is unlike him cause he hates it. My question is can I give him a treatment if he just had his inhaler?
I have asthma and just resumed using a steroid inhaler (Advair) regularly (I was w/o insurance for awhile and could not afford the inhaler). Within a week of resuming the inhaler use I had an OB followed by another one a few days later. I don't think I've ever had 2 so close together before.
I've read somewhere that steroid medications have been cited to trigger OBs but I was wondering if you have anymore information on this? Perhaps I should change medications?
