Now, sometimes combining wellbutrin with an ssri such as Paxil will be done because that can help with the weight gain and sexual dysfunction problems, but quitting Paxil to go on wellbutrin is not likely to help with anxiety -- depression, maybe, but not anxiety because, again, wellbutrin is very stimulating. If this were me, I'd not take the Wellbutrin, stop the whole process, and get a psychiatrist before I proceeded further if your doc isn't one.
my doctor has me on paxil 40 mg and wellbutrin xl 300 mg ..... is this combination beneficial to me cuz every since i've combined the two i been feeling more depressed than ever and i cant sleep at night so she has me on restoril for that ..... am i heading in the right direction? or am i making things worse?
That can probably be used with Paxil, but you have to be careful combining it with tranquilizers like Zanax and klonopin and valium. The amino acid taurine makes GABA in the body. You can take inositol but the studies that showed it working for anxiety used a lot! It's just part of the B complex, but be careful you keep up your levels of choline and phostatidyl serine, as they are in balance with inositol.

But also, wellbutrin is very stimulating and not usually used for anxiety for that reason. Sometimes to deal with the symptoms you were describing from the Paxil wellbutrin will be added, but for primary anxiety it isn't usually a substitute. I think you posted before, but if this goes on you need to consider going back on Paxil and stopping the right way -- withdrawal can be quick and neat but it can also last a long time, especially with Paxil.

This is entirely dependent on your individual reaction. For me, neither was much of a factor with any of these things, and most ssris other than possibly Prozac tend to be sedating when they work well, but still, some will get these problems and some won't. These two meds are very similar. Celexa came first, and when the patent ran out, they played with the structure, took some things out, and made Lexapro. Reportedly it has fewer side effects, but who knows if that's really true?
If you had to stop the Paxil in order to start the Wellbutrin, I would DEFINITELY say to scrap it...and just stick with the Paxil.
Just give it some thought. If the Paxil is really working to help regulate your PMDD well...perhaps just think about sticking with that, and maybe ask the doc about a referral to a nutritionist?

So I went to the doctor and he suggested I switch from Paxil to Wellbutrin because supposedly Wellbutrin will not cause weight gain. I have been on Wellbutrin for 6 days and have already lost 2 lbs. But the downside of this all is I am having Paxil withdrawal. I started weaning myself off about 2 wks prior to starting Wellbutrin, but am still having symptoms. I haven't had a Paxil since I started the Wellbutrin 6 days ago because I was worried about mixing the two medications.
I switched from Paxil 75mg, with no weight gain or appetite to Wellbutrin 300 XL with uncontrolled appetite and the inability to feel satiety after eating which has led to mild weight gain. Wellbutrin has been a nightmare for me this last year but I'm not willing to go back on Paxil and possibly subject myself to the torture of withdrawing from it again.
I'm lacking options at this point on what to do.

You can take Welbutrin with Paxil no problem. As for taking Paxil with Zoloft, NO. You don't want to do that.
Get thta re-evaluation from you doctor (preferably a Psychiatrsit) because it seems like they should have informed you better about the meds and their dosage.
These meds are just weird, they get weirder the older you get, and they affect everyone differently. I have heard that combining an ssri with wellbutrin can help with the weight problem, but then you're on two meds instead of one and wellbutrin can be stimulating and increase anxiety. Might be worth a try for you, who knows?
re feeling but proceed with caution because Klonopin daily with Wellbutrin over long periods, will make the benzo withdrawal much harder / dangerous while on Wellbutrin.
Pristiq is approved for depression, but may also help with panic disorder and anxiety.
He cut his paxil by 25% each week and a week and a half ago he was started wellbutrin taking 300 mg and only 15 mg of paxil. 7 days ago he stopped paxikl completely.
I also was taking Paxil and I switched because I gained 30lbs and had the shakes and some other weird side effects. I went on Effexor 37.5mg and did very well on it.
he suggested you stay on the Paxil for another week along with the Wellbutrin? If so...that will probably be more effective for you and should minimize the symptoms. If after the week is up...and you are still having problems....contact your doctor again to see about continuing a gradual taper.
The one pound weight loss isn't too significant at this point...weight can fluctuate on its own for really no real reason.

I don't have a dose assigned yet. I'm currently on 40mg/day of Paxil. The smallest dosage for Paxil is 20 - 50 mg/day.
I'm asking questions now because I'm waiting to meet with a psychiatrist to discuss switching from Paxil to Wellbutrin, both SSRIs.
Does that help clarify, or is it still too difficult to assess? I will of course be meeting with a psychiatrist before making any real kind of a change.
m trying to get off Paxil, so my doctor start adding Wellbutrin 300 mg to the mix to start gradually getting Paxil off my system.
The problem is since we added Wellbutrin I noticed that i'm losing a lot of hair.
Is there a link between Wellbutrin (or the mix i'm taking) with the hair loss? If there's any, Would i get my hair back if i stopped Wellbutrin or is it too late for that?

I took Paxil for two days and the following morning after taking it the second time, I had a huge attack that landed me in the ER. I was told to stop Paxil immediately and start taking Wellbutrin but I am so freaked out by what happened that I am nervous.
Yes, you can take small doses of paxil with Wellbutrin....any time of the day, go back to when you took it before...for some people it keeps them awake, for some it makes them sleepy, so take it according to its effect on you.
