Avatar f tn I'm a 29 year old female and three months ago I ended up in the ER with a micro-perforation of the bowel. Previous to this I weighed 144 pounds (I'm 5'7) and my diet was just whatever I wanted, mostly crap food. But it wasn't an issue because I have a fast metabolism and I didn't care much about what I put in my body. I am also a smoker. Luckily, I didn't have to have surgery for my perforation - it healed up over three days of intravenous antibiotics in the hospital.
7282682 tn?1397237735 I have a colonoscopy next week. The stuff they put you out with isnt an opiate is it? I don't want to do anything that jeopardizes my recovery.
Avatar m tn by my doctor during a routine colonoscopy. Apparently doctor did not know he injured me..I advised the attending nurse when I woke up that there is something seriously wrong. I was in so much pain. She rushed to get my clothes on and rushed me out the clinic. When I got home, I told my husband to call the ambulance as the pain got worst. I was taken into the emergency room and I was told later I was operated on and in ICU for 2-4 days.My surgeon removed about a foot to repair the colon.
Avatar f tn The colonoscopy might show something, but it probably won't. However a colonoscopy is a good idea to make sure nothing more serious is going on. Have you tried making dietary and lifestyle changes?
Avatar m tn Check out the SCD (Specific Carbohdrate Diet) diet. I heard about this from a video on YouTube and was amazed at his recovery as well as getting off all the drugs. Video name on youtube 'CROHN'S DISEASE CURE ULCERATIVE COLITIS CURE CROHN'S OLITIS IBS CURE SCD DIET." I so need to add a c to olitis lol. I found an article online you will be very interested in reading too: "The Power of SCD and Dawn’s Remarkable Ulcerative Colitis Remission".
Avatar n tn It is little pouches/bulges in your intestines and seeds from foods like tomatoes irritate it. Can cause pain. Look up on internet diet for diverticulitis.
Avatar m tn Hello- I am about your age and about to have my 4th colonoscopy (polyops were found and 1 ugly one they have to keep checking on). I would say that the worst part for me is the no coffee or eating the day prior. I can handle the clean out - start early & stay home! Have a pad, towel, or Depends for night available, just in case. The procedure for me has always been smooth. My mom stayed there one time, my husband the other times.
Avatar m tn Welcome to the gastroenterology community! I would not recommend researching "what can go wrong in a colonoscopy." Yes, things do go wrong, but in over 99% of the cases, everything is fine. I (and most other people) will tell you that the worse part of a colonoscopy is the prep because it tastes bad and because you have to spend all day having diarrhea. I had a colonoscopy at 16 and I was totally fine. Do you know what type of sedation you are going to get?
Avatar m tn hello to everyone...just wondering if anyone has heard or used this...the ms recovery diet...

Avatar m tn HI...I am working with a Dr on MedHelp for an exercise program for us!! As soon as I know it is doable I will let u all in on it... Now as for a diet, I have a few questions...do u know if u have a thyroid issue? were u checked lately for an autoimmune issue? How about Ehlers-Danlos? Do u ever have issues with IBS? Sorry for the questions, but they will help in answering ur question.
Avatar n tn I am sure there are but most people have more stamina after a day off.
Avatar m tn t get one. Why would it be necessary for me to have a colonoscopy if i have a fatty liver. Would just diet and excercise fix the problem? Doctor said that fat in the diet is not the problem but carbs is. But the procedures for getting ready for the colonoscopy is carbs. I have already had a liver biopsy 2 years ago but they didn't even suggest diet or exrercise.
Avatar n tn If you eliminated medications and have fiber and probiotics in your diet, I would start considering your diet! We can grow intolerant to many things - beans, dairy, & gluten, for example.
Avatar m tn Now ten yrs later, his pain is everyday, blood and white mucus in his stool, weight loss in last couple months. He has had a colonoscopy and barium upper test. Said iritable bowel. second opinion and Dr sent for his colonoscopy results and looked at them and said it was irritable bowel. After colonoscopy dr said he had iliatis then 2 weeks later said never mind he didn't.

773755 tn?1328119777 mother has had diarrhea the last couple years, following recovery from diabetes episode. i don't know much else. she goes say twice a day, doesn't have to run for it but still sometimes concerned about going out of the house a bit... 6 years ago she had a eye misdiagnosis, had the wrong prednisone treatment, got depression after that, and then the diabetes imbalance after that, probably due to all the stress.
1703392 tn?1307450500 Meanwhile turn yourself into a healthy diet that supports the speedy recovery of the inner colon walls. You know cells divide and form new ones. Similarly polyps are the cells which grow but in excess that may be blocking the colon. In turn you should feel happy by listening the news that it isn’t a carcinogenic leading polyp.
Avatar m tn My primary care physician sent me to a GI specialist who determined to do a colonoscopy, and after hearing about my long history of reflux, an endoscopy as well. After the procedure the doctor said everything looked good and that they rtemoved some polyps from my colon and that I had some changes in the tissue near the esophogeal sphincter and that they biopsied them. He said that he would call me as soon as he had the results.
Avatar f tn I am a 50 year old female and I underwent a colonoscopy 5 days ago. I was put under twilight sedation and was reasured I would feel and remember nothing, and that I'd be fine in a day or so. Unfortunately, something went wrong during the procedure. I woke up halfway through in excruciateing pain. I remember being quite agitated and the doctor holding me down while I was given more sedation to knock me out again.
987242 tn?1335490770 Yeahhh. If you've got endo on your bowels, it is very common for it to cause constipation or diarrhea, bloating and gas. All sorts of GIT upset. I have stage III endo, with the worst of it being down the bottom of my bowels, and I get the WORST gas, very painful, and a lot of it. I've tried changing my diet heaps, I've even had a colonoscopy and 2 gastrocopies. My gyno almost laughed when I told him I had those procedures, he said it's definately my endo.
Avatar f tn I had a total colectomy when I was 24. It was a very hard recovery, I was in the hospital for 12 days, had pancreatitis while there and it was a very slow recovery. After surgery I lost my health insurance and was not able to see my gastro dr for 6 years. I went back and finally saw him last year for an endoscopy and colonoscopy and found that I had more polyps in my stomach duodeom small intestine and what is left of my rectum.
Avatar n tn The pill is for the prep for the colonoscopy. I actually just learned that my in-laws also used it for their colonoscopies and they said the pills were much better than drinking the liquid prep. So, as long as I can down 20 pills in an hour, this prep hopefully will be a bit easier since the liquid prep makes me vomit.

Avatar f tn Question #1 - After this CT, is a colonoscopy redundant, i.e. is the CT a more sensitive test than the colonoscopy or might a colonoscopy show problems that the CT would not? Question #2 - Given the location of the pain, would a colonoscopy even explore the area of his pain? Question #3 - Does this pain pattern suggest a diagnosis to anyone? Question #4 - Does anyone have any idea where to go from here?
405614 tn?1329144114 One of them was rather large and behind a fold, so the removal was a little more involved, putting me at increased risk for bleeding, so I had to continue my clear liquid diet, and am supposed to eat a light diet today, whatever that means. I doubt includes chocolate cookies, doggone it! I've been taking it easy, recovering from the anesthesia and drinking chicken broth, eating jello, etc. I haven't had breakfast yet, thinking about some yogurt.
