Avatar f tn HE HAS BEEN TO THE GASTROLOGIST THEY DID AND ENDOSCOPY HE SAID IT WAS NORMAL THE ONLY THING WAS HE HAS POLYUPS AND THE STOMACH WAS RED WHICH HE SAID WILL GO AWAY ON ITS OWN AND ALSO THAT MY SON NOT LACTULOSE INTOLERENT. HE ALSO HAD A STOOL TEST THAT WAS NORMAL.
Avatar m tn I work in a university-affiliated hospital, so getting any tests is easy. The doc doing my physical recommended a colonoscopy; which I scheduled but when they found out that I had a bad (really bad) reaction to Versed during dental surgery they had me reschedule with a CRNA for diprivan instead of Versed. This wasn't possible because I'm allergic to eggs (therefore allergic to propofol).
Avatar f tn But,to me,the bigger question is why is a 15 yr old having a colonoscopy, taking Zoloft and Xanax? If there is a major illness going on here,it is incombent on the school to make adjustments for the child. But,what's going on with your child???
Avatar f tn PLEASE go get the colonoscopy as SOON as possible. My sister waited because she thought it was just a hemorriod, turned out to be colon cancer. Don't take the chance that it "might" be something else. I had my first colonoscopy and there was nothing to it. It turned out good for me. No signs of polyps or anything else. I am so glad I did it. I see my sister suffering with chemo and she has a colostomy bag and we really don't know how she is going to do in the long run.
Avatar m tn Is doing a colonoscopy very painful? How does it feel ?
Avatar f tn Would patches of inflammation shown on colonoscopy be due to IBS ? Anybody had this shown on colonoscopy and subsequently diagnosed as IBS rather than Crohn's?
Avatar f tn He told me that he would never perform the colonoscopy on his wife...my best friend, because she is so small and that she would need a pediatric scope. He said I would too if I ever had it done again, but suggested that I only get virtual exams in the future. His wife and I are the same size. Both very small women. He also told me that What happens to me is very rare. No one wakes up and he is unable to complete only 5% of the time. He then shared that I was talking during the procedure.
Avatar m tn I talked to GI specialist and he said he would order a few more tests, for me to stay on the gluten free diet and put me on some probiotics. He said (pending negative tests results) to call him in 10 days or sooner if symptoms didn't get better. Those stool tests came back negative also. This is when I got my natural doctor and chiropractor involved who is very much into the gluten intolerance, thyroid diseases and other GI issues.
Avatar f tn It was a colon biopsy or colonoscopy? Here's an article on reading a colonoscopy. https://www.health.harvard.
Avatar m tn Hello, I had rectal bleeding about 4 years ago which turned out to be a hemorrhoid, The doctor clipped it and about a week later I noticed bleeding again. Called the doctor and I schedule a appointment but the appointment was two weeks away.
Avatar n tn I am having and EGD/Colonoscopy on Tuesday at 1PM. I am to begin tomorrow the clear fluids. I started my period yesterday. Will they still continue with this testing or reschedule?
Avatar m tn Thanks for the reply. I'm getting weaker each day and will struggle to make it to the colonoscopy. I'm on no meds at all. All I can do is sit here and try to stay strong.
Avatar n tn I recently underwent my first baseline colonoscopy. I was lightly sedated, but apparently I was a bit resistant to the scope entering any further than the first few inches of my rectum. It was reported that this was sufficient to determine all was well and it was also recommended I come back again in approximately five years. Do I just need to have more sedation next time or could I have a stenosis that caused me to subconsciously be resistive and uncomfortable. Should I be concerned?
Avatar f tn I was able to watch what was going on as the screen the doc was looking at was on the wall opposite me, it looked pretty freaky, ....sort of like that bit in The Empire Strikes Back when the Millenium Falcon is in that Giant Space Worm on that asteroid haha :P Anyway I felt a little out of it but I wasn't asleep. There was a very nice nurse sitting by my head. I remember she was talking to me about that show Heroes.
459075 tn?1224121598 I posted on here a couple weeks ago but am still getting the run around with my doctors. I have this god awful pain like something has been put in a vice grip in my lower right side. it comes and goes but when it comes god bless america it REALLY hurts. If i eat something (doesnt matter what) I get nautious and i have VERY bad diareaha, it is so bad this last week that (i know this is alot of information but trying to get it all out there) when i have a B/M i am also passing blood.
Avatar f tn i had a colonoscopy the other day. the dr went around the first 'bend', but couldn't push thru any further. he said that he didn't want to push any further because he didn't want to 'tear' anything. he was being very vague about why it was blocked. i am not having any pain and my BMs are normal. i thought there was a scope on the end of these things so you can see what you are looking at. why couldn't he tell me what the blockage was?
1699550 tn?1320286617 i just had a colonoscopy done this morning and the abdominal pain is horrible and still has not gone away yet is this normal?
Avatar f tn It is good that you've had your colonoscopy and that you won't need one again for 10 years. However, as I understand, it is used to check for polyps and tumors in the intestinal tract and not to diagnose IBS. How did your doctor arrive at an IBS diagnosis?
Avatar m tn if they are doing a scope on your large intestine than yes they look at all 3 sections of your colon.
Avatar f tn Abdominal cramps and watery discharge may indicate a Post surgical complication of Colonoscopy. They actually are very common in many compromised patients even though adequate care has been taken. They include mild abdominal pain with cramps, watery diarrhea,Post surgical inflammation. These are very minor complications.Very severe major complications can be Bowel explosion, obstruction, allergy, dehydration or even stroke sometimes.
Avatar f tn The pain was much different then, a dull ache on my upper left side that would come and go but be present almost every day. It wasn’t painful to press on my stomach anywhere. And I think the colonoscopy prep gave my body a good cleanse and helped it heal. This was much different. More acute in nature. The pain is much more intense, and severely painful to press on the exact spot it hurts. Like I said, I don’t remember injury it an any moment.

Avatar m tn Hi everyone.... I'm scheduled to have my first colonsocopy next week, & I have to admit, I am terrified. I'm horribly sqeamish, and on top of that, I have heard horror stories of patients being 'aware' during the procudure, when they were supposed to be knocked out. I'm hoping someone can put me at ease here... I'm losing a lot of sleep! Thanks!
Avatar m tn s going on. Given my age, and a clean colonoscopy and blood tests, I realize it is very unlikely I have a tumor, but it's something that it always in the back of my head. Thanks so much for the reply, I'll get a second opinion right away.
Avatar f tn I have just had a colonoscopy does anyone know what it means if you have rectal erythema ?
1405105 tn?1281104430 It is a shock to your gastro tract taking all of the liquid to clean out the colon to have a colonoscopy and it takes some time to get it back on track. I, too, have been having a lot of gas. This was not my first colonoscopy so I know it all subsides after a few weeks and everything gets back to normal. Good Luck and Hang in there!
