Avatar f tn he told me that I could use miralax and gatorade and it would be fine..I mean really I got the bathroom anywhere from 2 to 7 times a day, the prep is all I need to push me over the top...so I am hoping that I will be able to tolerate the prep and the colonoscopy will go fine. A couple of other things, I do take things over the counter to attempt to slow down this condition..
Avatar f tn Does anyone know what bowel prep for colonoscopy is safe for use by a patient with liver disease? I was given prescriptions for miralax/ducolax and for Suprep. Thanks!
Avatar m tn I have been stopped up for over 2 months. I was scheduled for a colonoscopy last week and the gallon of fluid barely came through and started burning. So a barium enema was scheduled for today. No prep because it was an emergency. They did an x-ray and said I was so blocked they couldn't do anything and sent me home from the hospital to call my DR. What could this be? I'm afraid to eat now and have no idea what will happen. Am editing on a call back from the DR.
Avatar n tn Have you tried MiraLax for the IBS? I use it every day. It can help with gas pain also. From the MiraLax website: "MiraLAX actually reduces cramps and gas that can be caused by constipation." I don't work for the company - honest. I'm just glad there is something that actually works.
408448 tn?1286883821 I have been having okay results since June with Miralax and Colace. A few weeks ago I began having what looks to be blood in the stool. I told my onc right away. She said do not worry. It is probably from a blood vessel bursting. Well, I tried not to worry, but it did not work! Could the Miralax be the trouble?
Avatar m tn Hi everyone! Has anyone had a colonoscopy while being hypothyroid. Specifically, have you had it done without sedation? I'm asking because my BP and HR can be low due to this, and heard sedation suppresses it even more - so don't want to do anything that is risky. Also any tips/suggestions especially since we have different issues/diets with Hashi (did you find a particular prep easier/better, what did you eat, etc.). Thank you!
Avatar n tn Hello: I am having a routine colonoscopy next week as I turned 50 in the last year. I have anxious tendancies when I see any physician and this procedure is creating a lot of anticipatory anxiety. May I take a couple of Xanex BEFORE I go to the appointment?
Avatar f tn My other fear, please don’t think I’m crazy, I just finished a jar this week of the Jif peanut butter that was recalled for salmonella. UPC codes matched exactly. Gee, how do I tell salmonella from the colonoscopy prep (MiraLax) which will be cleaning me out!? I’m 74 and trying hard to follow the pre colonoscopy guidelines. I tend to lapse into gout which affects my knees greatly if I get dehydrated from diarrhea. I need to drink water and stay calm.
Avatar f tn In April of this year, his blood work came back (bad) is what they called it. They gave him a colonoscopy which came back non cancerous, however, the surgeon wanted to be sure and did another, again coming back clean. A week ago he had severe diarreha for 1 day and then constipated for the next 4. The Dr. sent him for a catscan which we told he had colon blockage and now liver cancer. We are told the liver cancer is in-operatable.
Avatar f tn I recently had a colonoscopy and the doctor said I have Melanosis but it's nothing to worry about. I asked him what causes that and he said overuse of laxatives. I told him that I only take Miralax, but he said Miralax doesn't cause this. What else can cause Melanosis? I take quite a few supplements: Daily multiple vitamin, Vit D3, Resveratrol, CoQ10, Lutein & Zeaxanthin, Saffron, Fish oil. Could one of those be the cause?
Avatar f tn I am 16 and had to have a colonoscopy because I have been having stomach issues since February. I did the Miralax and dulcolax prep and I was getting cleaned out all night.
Avatar f tn Looking for feedback and experience from other women or men experiencing life with a tortuous redundant colon. was told that I have this when a routine colonoscopy was performed. Since having the colonoscopy it is very rare for me to pass gas like I used to and feel bloated and full in my stomach very often but still get Hunger Pains which makes it hard to eat. I was told to get the colonoscopy in the first place because I was experiencing hard stool but still went to the bathroom everyday.
Avatar f tn It does NOT lead to cancer or mean that one is pre-disposed to develop cancer. This condition may sometimes make having a colonoscopy difficult and in extreme cases may prevent the practitioner who is performing the colonoscopy from being able to examine the entire colon. If you are having bowel symptoms always tell your physician and let her/him decide the next step.
Avatar n tn Hi, I had a colonoscopy on June 20th, 2016. Everything came back negative however, I started experiencing severe ankle pain in both ankles especially in the Achilles and bottoms of my feet. It's been several weeks of different doctors from cardio, general physician, heart doctors testing for various areas and all negative. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this after a colonoscopy or from the massive Miralax intake prior to the procedure?? Living on Advil.
Avatar n tn I have had severe chronic constipation for 9 months. I had a colonoscopy a month ago and they said i had IBS or possible colonic inertia. They said to take 17g. of Miralax 2tmes daily. I have been butr with no luck and i keep gaining weight due to no bowel movements. I am suppossed to go back to doctor in feb. To see how miralax is working. Should i call now. i also have had a severe chronic pain in my right side under rib cage since before colonoscopy. Any ideas on what to due.
Avatar f tn You could be constipated, try taking Miralax to keep yourself moving daily. It might help. You could also see a gastro doc. Have a colonscopy done to make sure nothing is at issue. He may also have some medication to try. If your gas is bowel related, especially IBS then your bowels can go into spasm creating more gas. They have medication for that.
Avatar n tn Would tortuous sigmoid colon contribute or be the cause of incomplete distention on a virtual colonoscopy? The gastroenterologist was unable to complete a regular colonsocsopy due to possible adhesions or diverticulitis in sigmoid colon at the first turn. Thank you. This discussion is related to tortuous colon.
Avatar m tn Hi, So in the beginning of February I began experiencing bloating (I looked pregnant) indigestion, and a lot of burping. My bowel movements were sparse and pencil thin and I felt full and lost my appetite. Gas x did not help. After a couple weeks of not getting better I went to urgent care and right away he did an x ray and found my ascending colon was all backed up due to a possible impacted feces but he wasn't sure. He told me take miralax as if preparing for a colonoscopy.
Avatar n tn I have tried everything from high fiber diet, miralax, enemas, and I have been on Amitiza and Sentakot for three days and to no avail. I researched some on the internet and I am concerned that the gastrointestinal issues are from macrocyctic anemia (b-12 or pernicious anemia) from what I can figure from my symptons and blood work. What is the treatment for such? Whom would I see regarding this? What other methods will relieve the constipation? I am very miserable and feel awlful 24/7.
Avatar f tn I'm having a Colonoscopy and Lower GI done tomorrow. I forgot to take the Milk of Magnesia last night. I have the Ducolax and Miralax to take with Green Gatorade. Will I still be able to have test done. I have been going the bathroom regular for the last 2 days. Thank you.
519035 tn?1348275773 ( Any other advice?? I had a colonoscopy when I was 25 for this problem and I was good.
Avatar f tn I would stop the Miralax completely. The diarrhea you are experienceing may be a residual effect of the Miralax. Try eating a well balanced diet, including some fiber, and if you see no improvement within 2 weeks, see another doctor who will listen and get to the root of the problem. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn She has tried activia, colon health and even Miralax (16 doses the last 2 weeks) And so far nothing is really working. Her doctor suggested the Miralax, and blood work. CBC and thyroid. no results yet. But she is feeling real full and not much results even with the Miralax. Now there is a brown tongue, some times, and today puking, belly ache some diarrhea. But still now emptiness. She feels like crap. Pun intended.
599170 tn?1300973893 i suppose thers no way to know what internal looks like until my next colonoscopy which I get every 3 years due to family history of ulcerative colotisis this was the hardest most painful surgery I ever had ....anyone eles have such a rough time? How can I get off the laxatives and back to normal....the pain of impactation is a 9 I just cant take it it hurts so bad...
Avatar m tn he has been drinking a lot of fluids. Some with the miralax in it(what dr prescribed) However, he is having sudden urges all the time and producing very little some mucousy. not a normal stool and it seems like it is just not moving enough. Now he is having pain way down by tailbone> He can't sleep very good. Hardly can sit of lay down comfortably. He is scheduled for a colonoscopy next week. We are beginning to wonder if the vagus nerve is damaged.
Avatar m tn Also a nerve was cut that has since then caused motor sensory problems yielding a lack of perstalsis. Now must take Miralax daily and does not work 7 days a week. So now do cleansing every Sunay evening befor bed.
