Avatar f tn o Treatment of bowel obstruction includes intravenous hydration, nasogastric suctioning, electrolyte monitoring, and laparotomy if conservative measures fail. Colonoscopy and esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) may be useful in removing obstructing masses of worms. o Piperazine citrate, a helminth paralytic, has been suggested in cases of obstruction; it is no longer commercially available in the United States.
Avatar n tn t sound as lactose intolerance. Viral diarrhea (Rotavirus) is common in children younger than 5 years, and some immunity develops after that, so it would be unusual to have 4 consecutive bouts of diarrhea from the virus. What is the color and consistence of his stool? How many times a day? He is complaining (or you suspect) about school problems? Any abdominal pain, if yes, where exactly?
Avatar n tn I am a 34 year old female with two children. I have a question about bowel movements. I do not use the bathroom but maybe 2 times a month, but mostly I have a lot of loose bowel movements especially when it is during my monthly cycle. I have visible mucus and red blood in my stool every time I go to the bathroom. I don't know how normal stools are suppose to smell but mine smell really bad. My stomach cramps really bad when I do go to the bathroom.
Avatar f tn Since I had my period now and am anxious to get the colonoscopy, I started googling to see if having menstruation during a colonoscopy is a problem and started coming up with information indicating my bleeding may be caused by intestinal endometriosis. As a teenager I had VIOLENT reactions to getting my period -- including vomiting diarrhea constipation hot/chills near fainting etc. I also have a family history of uterine cancer.
969042 tn?1259067775 Hello, in January of this year during a routine colonoscopy a benign 3mm tubular adenoma polyp was removed. What I need to know is it genetic? Are my adult children at risk of developing the same; or cancer? Do they need to have this procedure done at an earlier age than average? Could an unattended tubular adenoma polyp lead to cancer? Thank you This discussion is related to Information please.
Avatar f tn t I too young for this type of precancerous polyp given I eat healthy, not obese, etc and my second question and probably most important is that 6 years ago I had a colonoscopy (rectal bleedng) and it was clear. Did this 5 mm polyp grow in just 6 years? I am trying to be positive but, I fee I am the only person this young. Doctor said that it is not common at all to be undr 50 with an adenomous polyp. I feel so alone.
3986919 tn?1352125983 The doctor told me to call my brother and sister and tell them to have a colonoscopy asap. He also said my 3 children, when they turn 40 NOT 50 should have a colonoscopy. So to all you out there over 50 who haven't had a colonoscopy yet.....please go have one done. Trust me it is NOT as bad as it sounds!! And it could save your life!
Avatar f tn ve had to rule out things or diagnose issues in lieu of a colonoscopy? (Or something that could say.. yes, a colonoscopy is warranted? bloodwork? Etc?) Does anyone have similar symptoms?
Avatar n tn I have recently had both an EGD and a Colonoscopy. They were a piece of cake. The EGD was done in an emergency setting, so I was already in a heightened state of anxiety. The relaxation medication and sedation medication did their jobs. I came "back" just a little bit before they had the scope out of my mouth, but it was not traumatic. Truly, the traumatic part is the "going in" part, not the coming out part. I was WAY gone for the going in part.
Avatar m tn Does this put at super high risk of colon cancer since I am so young and there were two? She said I should come back in 3 years for another colonoscopy, but I am concerned that I should come back sooner. My paternal grandmother had colon cancer in her 70s and had some of her colon removed and then lived to 86. All of my aunts and uncles and dad are very good about colonoscopies and no one has had cancer.
Avatar f tn But i feel the need to go all the time. The doctor found blood in my stool, he is sending me for a colonoscopy. I was wondering what it could be This discussion is related to Blood in Stool.
Avatar f tn Get a colonoscopy done. All polyps are removed during colonoscopy. If they remain there, they MAY turn cancerous. So the ONLY solution here is to get a colonoscopy done. Which is not so hard at all considering how serious cancer can be. Let me assure you, you have no reason to believe you have cancer unless the doctor shows you the proof on the LCD screen during ur colonoscopy! Cheers man. You're fine.
Avatar m tn At your age, I seriously doubt you have cancer and this would have shown up for sure in your colonoscopy. There are other causes for bleeding, and I would get a second opinion on this. I don't feel your current GI doctor is doing you any good, this is creating a lot of worry with you, and you don't deserve to not have answers. Get a second opinion, it can make a world or difference! I wish you all the best and take care.
Avatar n tn I cannot comment on the probability of colon cancer, or not, but changes in bowel habits as well as in the stool shape can be indicative of cancer. I am not familiar with the specific arrangements for colonoscopies in your area. I would first start with finding a primary care doctor, or failing that, going to a clinic to ask for a GI referral for a colonoscopy.
Avatar n tn Dyes in beverages like grape coolade can turn the bowl a green color. This is seen a lot in children. Mothers freak.
Avatar m tn Due to FAP being in our family, my three children had to have yearly colonoscopies without sedation. They said they weren't pleasant but each was able to tolerate them. That's been awhile ago, and now my two remaining, adult children are sedated for their scopes.
Avatar f tn About 2 months ago, I was straining very hard trying to have a bowel movement. I felt something tear or move in the very bottom of my abdomen. I've been to the Gynocologist and have ruled out any female problems and bladder. I'm due to have a colonoscopy very soon. I'm worried. My abdomen is very sore and still having pain in the vagina.
Avatar m tn Called the doctor and I schedule a appointment but the appointment was two weeks away. So every day until my appointment I stuck my finger in to my rectum I know disgusted, but I noticed a bulge get The bulge got smaller every day until my appointment The doctor looked inside my rectum couldn't find anything wrong so he scheduled a colonoscopy. I have a cleared colonoscopy no polyps or anything fast forward to now four years later I noticed right sweat blood on the surface of my stool.
Avatar f tn it usually follows a sharp pain to abdomen and causes the whole area to throb and have sharp pains. I had a colonoscopy and they said no hemroids, fishers, or polups. Not sure what todo now. I feel bad all the time. Maybe I should say that I have RA and am a thyroid cancer survivor. Not sure what direction to go with but am tired of this pain in my backside!
Avatar n tn yeah a colonoscopy can show herpes especially in people that seem to be a symptomatic. most people arent (rare) but some have sores on their cervix inside(inside geniatalia etc...) but most people have symptoms on the oustide genital skin.
Avatar f tn I have been having this pain in my upper left abdomen, under left breast. I've had a mammography, and all is normal. The pain is occasional. Has anyone had this? I'm having a colonscopy in a few days, but I don't think the test goes that far into the abdomen. I have had a colonoscopy 8 years ago and all was fine. If anyone has had this, please let me know.
280234 tn?1532986249 I am 39f. I had my colonoscopy done 2 years ago because I had the same things going on. Found 2 polyps, 1 was 5 cm. the other was 3cm. Both benign and was told I had to repeat the colonoscopy in 3 years. I'm going in to have a endoscopy (stomach) looked at. My GI doc said I have IBS. I've had this for years and pass blood every few years. Just make sure you eat plenty of fiber and lots of was. Low fat diet. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I recently went to my doctor due to some cramping in my lower abdomen, mostly on the left side & because I noticed I was passing large white chunks along with my stool (about grape-size). My doctor put me on 2 antibiotics to treat possible diverticulitis or colitis & set up a CT scan. The CT scan showed no Diverticulitis, but did show that my colon wall is thickened, so I'm being sent for a colonoscopy next week.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with Diverticulosis but I have not been able to get a colonoscopy. (Financial reasons) I have severe stomach pain and have dark purple and sometimes bright red blood in my stool. My stool is never normal. It comes out like pebbles and it looks like it has a layer of fat/oily or clearish white substance that incircles each pebble. I have had hernia surgery and have had 2 feet of intestines removed. Could you give me some insight please before I go to another Dr?
