Avatar f tn The colonoscopy might show something, but it probably won't. However a colonoscopy is a good idea to make sure nothing more serious is going on. Have you tried making dietary and lifestyle changes?
Avatar n tn It is little pouches/bulges in your intestines and seeds from foods like tomatoes irritate it. Can cause pain. Look up on internet diet for diverticulitis.
Avatar m tn HI...I am working with a Dr on MedHelp for an exercise program for us!! As soon as I know it is doable I will let u all in on it... Now as for a diet, I have a few questions...do u know if u have a thyroid issue? were u checked lately for an autoimmune issue? How about Ehlers-Danlos? Do u ever have issues with IBS? Sorry for the questions, but they will help in answering ur question.
Avatar m tn t get one. Why would it be necessary for me to have a colonoscopy if i have a fatty liver. Would just diet and excercise fix the problem? Doctor said that fat in the diet is not the problem but carbs is. But the procedures for getting ready for the colonoscopy is carbs. I have already had a liver biopsy 2 years ago but they didn't even suggest diet or exrercise.
Avatar n tn If you eliminated medications and have fiber and probiotics in your diet, I would start considering your diet! We can grow intolerant to many things - beans, dairy, & gluten, for example.
Avatar m tn Now ten yrs later, his pain is everyday, blood and white mucus in his stool, weight loss in last couple months. He has had a colonoscopy and barium upper test. Said iritable bowel. second opinion and Dr sent for his colonoscopy results and looked at them and said it was irritable bowel. Avatar f tn guys please help me. i have not read the documents from my colonoscopy done in the morning (i was afraid to read it). the doctor havent told me anything. I did eat only apple mash with diet buscuit and drink water and that was all food whole day after. but then i had a little of pasta with pesto and a bit of cheese (11 hours after).
Avatar n tn The pill is for the prep for the colonoscopy. I actually just learned that my in-laws also used it for their colonoscopies and they said the pills were much better than drinking the liquid prep. So, as long as I can down 20 pills in an hour, this prep hopefully will be a bit easier since the liquid prep makes me vomit.
Avatar f tn Question #1 - After this CT, is a colonoscopy redundant, i.e. is the CT a more sensitive test than the colonoscopy or might a colonoscopy show problems that the CT would not? Question #2 - Given the location of the pain, would a colonoscopy even explore the area of his pain? Question #3 - Does this pain pattern suggest a diagnosis to anyone? Question #4 - Does anyone have any idea where to go from here?
2212714 tn?1342258744 And as for diet, you can try small quantities of high fibre diet and then progress. Ensure to include yogurt in your diet, it helps with the symptoms. On colonoscopy, suspicious looking polyps may be biopsied for histopathological study. Please concur with your doctor regarding this. Regards.
Avatar m tn Thank you for the response. To answer your question about parasites, the surgeon said that he would see evidence of parasites when he did the colonoscopy, and when he was done, he said he didn't see anything. Now, as far as celiac disease, wouldn't he have been able to detect that during the colonoscopy? Because I asked him about that, and I thought he said he'd check for that. Back to the parasites, though...
Avatar n tn ask your doctor if virtual colonoscopy can be done instead of direct invasive colonoscopy as both have equally good diagnostic value.
Avatar f tn The cream helped Fast forward to now I went to another doctor because of the same symptoms and he said he wants to do a colonoscopy. He tried to put his finger in my butt but I couldn’t handle it so he said he’ll do a colonoscopy. I wind up eating the day before the colonoscopy so I couldn’t get the test done. Plus I was nervous about the test and don’t really want to do it anyway. The main symptom that is bothering the most is the itching anus.
Avatar f tn I have read that colon cancer is practically unknown in countries where a high fibre diet is eaten. The logic behind this discovery is presumed to be:- - a high fibre diet speeds the passage of food intake to excretion (i.e.
Avatar f tn Has anyone used just 2 bottles mag citrate and 2 5mg. tabs bisacodyl for colonoscopy prep? My directions say 1 bottle at 4pm, then 1 bottle at 8pm with the 2 tabs. This is while on a 1 day liquid diet for an am (before noon) procedure in the surgicenter. I'm allowed to sip water up until 2 hrs. prior to the procedure because it's not in the hospital. How long does it take to start the purge? How long to finish? How much nausea?
Avatar m tn After 4 days I have my colonoscopy and gastroscopy but just wanted to check why this can be happened? Any concern about seriouse disease?
886699 tn?1270779744 I have POTS and might have to get a colonoscopy, has anyone ever done one while suffering with POTS, I am afraid to get dehydrated during the cleaning part before the procedure. Should I request an IV before they do the colonoscopy?? Please advice!!
Avatar f tn Hi, I am a 33yr old female. I have been having bowel problems for the past few years. In the past year I have been seeing mucus, blood and blood clots (large ones) in my feces. About 4 months ago I had an extensive colonoscopy, which revealed I have IBS-C and a 'spastic colon'? Thankfully, there were no polyps or other masses. I changed my diet cutting out gluten which was a major irritate for me. However, it hasnt helped with my bowel movements.
Avatar m tn During that time, I was also suffering from a sinus infection and chronic post nasal drip and the ENT gave me more antibiotics. However, its been a couple of months and my appetite remained the same, no change in diet, and i am losing unintentional weight, my stool is either fluffy or thin/narrow with undigested food, bloated, mild pain in lower abdomen and gas, fatigued, weak, joint ache, headache.
Avatar f tn I dont want to see a gastroenterologist because I dont want to get a colonoscopy just to have them tell me I have IBS. I also dont want my stomach to control my life. I am a high stress/anxiety person, which I think may play a part in my digestive problems. I eat healthy. I try to eat all whole grains and lots of fruits and veggies (eat a lot healthier than a typical american diet), but still my stomach does not get better.
Avatar m tn Maybe he should get a colonoscopy and see if there is any problem going on. If that is negative then it may be diet related. If it is diet related maybe he needs to cut way back on meat and eat more of a whole plant based diet with whole grains and veggies. Eat less and more often with small portions. Read the Starch Solution by Dr. John McDougall. Also, low fat. But it sound like it could be a blockage of some sort.
20828280 tn?1526071218 I did notice something interesting during the prep for the colonoscopy, though. As you likely know, the colonoscopy requires a clear liquid diet the day before and a lot of laxatives to clean out the digestive tract. I found that shortly after going on the liquid diet, my symptoms began to improve. By the morning of the procedure, I was virtually symptom free, something I haven't experienced in almost a year.
Avatar m tn The symptoms coincided with a change in work schedule and an accompanying change for the worse in my diet and exercise habits, which consisted of an awful lot of meat and fast food, sodas, very little water, virtually no fiber, and no exercise (I previously worked out four days a week) over a period of about three months. I abandoned this awful diet only about a week ago.
Avatar m tn Have the doctors ever given you a colonoscopy or checked into other bowel problems such as celiac disease or crohn's, etc before chalking it up to diabetic enteropathy? Do you control your diabetes?
