Colonoscopy cost

Common Questions and Answers about Colonoscopy cost

colon

Avatar f tn Sure, you can get a colonoscopy whether or not you are a virgin. They aren't doing anything to your vagina, it's your anus that is the business end with a colonoscopy. I don't know how much they cost, but if it is a lot, I'd just try to get some insurance instead. The only thing is, they might not book you for one if you're only 21, since colon cancer is not a young person's disease, unless you have a recommendation from a doctor.
Avatar n tn I recently underwent my first baseline colonoscopy. I was lightly sedated, but apparently I was a bit resistant to the scope entering any further than the first few inches of my rectum. It was reported that this was sufficient to determine all was well and it was also recommended I come back again in approximately five years. Do I just need to have more sedation next time or could I have a stenosis that caused me to subconsciously be resistive and uncomfortable. Should I be concerned?
Avatar f tn Do I have an appointment first with the doctor to discuss my symptoms AND THEN he either does/doesn't recommend a colonoscopy for the 2nd appointment? Or, do I just order a colonoscopy done by a doctor who doesn't know my symptoms? What happens in a colonoscopy and how dangerous is it? Is it expensive?
Avatar n tn Hi, studies done suggest that carefully performed sedation-free colonoscopy rarely causes complications and is well accepted by most patients. Sedation-free colonoscopy is more cost-effective, may be safer, and should be offered as an alternative to colonoscopy with sedation. You can check with your treating doctor he may be able to guide you appropriately. Regards.
568565 tn?1216785185 I am 37 yrs old. No history of colon cancer in the fam... However, recently one of my employee's husband went on a routine check up. They said since he is 47 he should have a colonoscopy... When he was done with that, he is now doing radiation and chemo... He has full blown cancer all over his pelvis... My gp advised with no history in my family, I am good to wait until I am 50 but if I did have a history of it, she'd recommend that I did it when I was 40...
Avatar f tn risk and cost. The cost is a big issue with your insurance company and they will only authorize these procedures on a preset schedule that the doctors must follow. There is a small risk, especially with the colonoscopy, of causing GI damage, so your doctor's will always work to balance the risk/reward equation based on your diagnosis and related symptoms.
Avatar n tn m not sure if my insurance will pay for the colonoscopy. I belive the total cost for the colonoscopy, the Doctors fee and lab will be about $4000-$5000.
Avatar n tn I'm not a physician. My understanding of the virtual colonoscopy (thinking of having one myself instead of actual colonoscopy) is that it cannot see very small polyps and of course if there is one it CAN see you'll have to follow up with an actual colonoscopy. But if there is a facility within reasonable driving distance, the virtual colonoscopy is supposed to be excellent. If there's a growth large enough to block your intestine it will be seen.
Avatar n tn He will propose you investigations like x-ray with a contrast substance (barium), where the gross abnormalities of intestine can be seen; colonoscopy usually follows. Ask for the cost of each investigation. 2. Money. It's your family who will probably help you first. Search for local organisations, churches, to donate you money. This is not something exceptional, churches help this way every day on organised way, they mostly have public caritative services.
Avatar m tn I'm not looking to hijack this thread. But I wanted to address a couple of your questions. The idea of avoiding public hospitals is rubbish. You avoid some! As a "local", you know which ones to avoid. Fortunately, US cities that would be on a typical foreign tourist's list, have a large number to choose from. My current insurance plan includes a $100 (US) out of pocket co-pay if I visit any hospital ER. I pay $20 to see my PCP (primary care physician).
Avatar m tn No, my doctor did not give a diagnosis. I go every 6 mos. to an oncologist because I had colon cancer surgery 4 yrs. ago. When I told him about the abdominal pain, he said that it would be a good idea to have a colonoscopy. I can't tolerate a regular one, so I'm having a virtual colonoscopy Sept. 18th. This is a routine procedure that I should have had regularly since my surgery, but I haven't.
Avatar f tn I had a Colonoscopy on Feb 7, 2013. To date I have IBS since this procedure. Is there anything I can do to regulate myself. I have lost 25 lbs since Feb which is good but not by choice. After I eat I'll have bowel movements 4 to 5 within an hour. I'm no longer eating while I'm at work. Please help.
Avatar m tn I still owe 500 on the colonoscopy I had done and now I have a new insurance so an endoscopy would cost me that 500 again. I am a single mom and can't do everything. Not sure what to do if my dr wants me to get an endoscopy for the stomach problems I am having. Hang in there. I hope things settle down for you.
Avatar f tn Well it comes and it goes. i actually had myself a colonoscopy like about 3 years ago and the images showed that i had irritation(i think they called them pulps? not sure about the spelling) and they had prescribed me some enemas with medication but at the time i was having money problems and wasn't able to buy the medication.
Avatar m tn After reading the many colonoscopy horror stories and problems with sedation associated with it; I was less than anxious to get a colonoscopy. But the symptoms persisted and I met with several GI docs; they did not listen to any of my questions, ubt insisted that I get a colonoscopy immediately. When I told them that I didn't want sedation, they said that was impossible and basically told me to get lost.
Avatar m tn Hi i have been seeing a gastrologist for nearly a year but he cant seem to find anything wrong. I have had a colonoscopy, endoscopy, stool and urine tests, blood tests and barium xray. My symptoms are weight loss, stomach pains after eating, nausea, diarrheoa, constipation, fatigue, anal fissures, and i have also bleed, loss of appetite and bloating after eating Can you be diagnosed and show the symptoms of diseases such as crohns and celiac disease whilst in remission?
Avatar m tn I have to have a colonoscopy this year and from my reading it looks like midazolam is the drug of choice. Are there other options? I've read about propofol, but the cost and risk discussed in the various articles make it seem like a controversial choice. I've also read of people having the procedure without sedation. Does this mean without anything, or are they on some kind of pain med?
Avatar f tn I'm not sure what you should ask your doctor, because your symptoms should speak for themselves. Bring in a piece of paper with you that lists all of your signs and symptoms and mentions your strong family history so that you don't forget to tell him any important details. He should feel around your stomach and ask you questions.
Avatar m tn I want to become a mother again. I have a 19 y/o. I am a newly wed. My husband has no children we are considering IVF but it is so costly. Not sure if I am able d/t high FSH. didn't get result for AMH as of yet. But if its not possible for me to have one biologically we are considering using DE. My question. Is it cheaper using a family or friend as a donor in comparison using an anonymous donor. Where I am living, it cost $16,500 for DE...IVF cost almost $20,000.
Avatar f tn Oh my goodness! That is so expensive. Here in new zealand all medical care is absolutely free. It seems unethical to charge someone to give birth!
Avatar f tn Can anyone give me a ballpark of the cost for the suppressant drugs after a transplant. Just want to get an idea, know no one can give me exacts but any info would help. Thanks.
Avatar n tn umm in the usa without insurance, n im chronic.
Avatar m tn hello again, thanks to all the people that responded. was wondering about the cost of meds. interferon and ribavirin, im checking with my ins. to see what they will cover. i may have misspoke about this thing on hepititusccure.net i dont think it is herbal? it deals with fatty liver tissue. but its only 50 bucks to read about it so i dont really have anything to lose. going back to doc in 3 mo. not sure why till i decide on tx. if tx takes care of virus, do people go back to normal lifestyle?
Avatar m tn What is the cost of 4th generation hiv elisa test for antibodies in srl diagnostics..
Avatar n tn The difference between the full cost of a treatment (which the uninsured often are charged), and the amount the insurance company tells them they will pay is often quite a bit. If you have cash and offer to pay up front (for a discount) you may get charged less than what they can get out of the insurance company, because it's less hassle and instant money for them. Just a thought, even if you had to borrow the money. Will your Endo accept results from another facility?
Avatar f tn In what country are you? In the USA, it is anywhere from $18,000 to $30,000.
