Common Questions and Answers about Colonoscopy bag

colon

Avatar m tn What is prep for a colonoscopy when one has a colostomy? My instructions seem to be identical with those before I had emplacement of a colostomy (why clear a colon that hasn't been "used" in years?
Avatar f tn Nope. Colon is at the other end. :>) They go up your behind. Endoscopy is the one where they go down your throat. They do have something new on the market for colonoscopy that my doctor calls 'poop in a box'. It's a kit and you do it at home. You place something in your toilet, go number 2, take out the thing in toilet, pull out the bag, add these drops and tie it up and send it off to provided address. That's it. So much better than the whole colonoscopy process.
Avatar n tn Can a colonoscopy be performed while you have diverticulitis, or would that be too risky - would it possibly cause a rupture?
Avatar f tn The cream helped Fast forward to now I went to another doctor because of the same symptoms and he said he wants to do a colonoscopy. He tried to put his finger in my butt but I couldn’t handle it so he said he’ll do a colonoscopy. I wind up eating the day before the colonoscopy so I couldn’t get the test done. Plus I was nervous about the test and don’t really want to do it anyway. The main symptom that is bothering the most is the itching anus.
Avatar f tn I am a 58 year old female and I've never had a colonoscopy. Once I had a small amount of bright red blood on the tissue after a bowel movement. That's been over a year ago and nothing since. I do have a hemorroid. Slight change in bowel habits, (constipation but mostly diarreha). Last night I had very slight cramps and went to the bathroom and my stomach was slighty torn up (loose stool). When I wiped it was black with blood.

107366 tn?1305680375 I am an ovarian cancer patient, and am very careful to screen yearly for colon/anal cancer with a colonoscopy. I'm not sure of the familial relationship ovarian and anal cancers may have, but is there something else I should be doing to screen?
Avatar n tn I just had a perofated colon from a routine colonoscopy last Fri. I spent 4 days in the hosipal being treated with antibiotics,so far I'm feeling symptom free. I have a recheck tomorrow(Fri). What I need to know is do I need another CT scan to prove that it is healed?
Avatar n tn The cancer caused a stricture on her Colon and she needed a Colonoscopy Bag..and there were little cancer cells EVERYWHERE..both intestines, liver, pancrease, stomach, entire abdomenal wall. Her doctor said she should do Carboplatin..but Pallative said she has had no quality of life and with our without it she has 6 months. Her oncologist will not discuss her live expectancy. Do not know what to do. She has been so sick I just want to see her in no pain. Can low dose Chemo do anything?
Avatar n tn How did the last attempt fail? By scope in your abdomen do you mean an upper endoscopy or a lower endoscopy (colonoscopy)? What do you mean by 2 bags? Do you mean a colostomy? What other "bag" do you mean?
Avatar n tn I had a routine colonoscopy (no polyps, one small diverticula), age 55. Three days later I developed symptoms of a bladder infection. Thought I'd try to treat it with cranberry juice and OTC Uristat (analgesic). Three days later it was clear I needed antibiotics. Before the meds kicked in I experienced excruciating intermittent pain in my right kidney. By morning the pain was gone, but after breakfast I vomited.
Avatar f tn By the time my appointment with her in June 2009, I had gone an entire month without going to the bathroom. She did a colonoscopy, and said I have internal hemroids. She told me to drink miralax and citracel. My problems continued, and I have always had this horrible pain in my left side. It has now gotten so bad that it is on my right side and middle of my stomach. Every time I reported back to her in 2009, she kept upping my dose on Miralax.
Avatar f tn About 9 weeks ago, January 15th to be exact, I was eating a bag of microwave kettle corn flavored popcorn, and usually after I’m through with the actual popcorn, I rip up the bag and lick the insides to get all the butter off (idk it just tastes good to me I guess) but this night while I was licking off the butter from the bag I suddenly began noticing that the roof of my mouth became numb and that I had this weird metallic taste in my mouth, and when I looked at the part of the bag I was lickin
Avatar f tn After antibiotics I was feeling better and had a colonoscopy. It showed that I have a few diverticulosis but at least one was infected. A month ago I began to have pain again. Gastroentologist sent me to have another ct and included a rectal ct. They injected dye up my rectum 3times because it kept leaking out. Two days later I was having emergency surgery because my colon perforated. I have a colostomy bag and have to go in for a second surgery. My question is...
Avatar f tn On Nov 21, 2009 I was diagnosed with Diverticulitis and drs. gave me antibiotics, I took all of those faithfully. Then I asked my doctor if I could try another doses of antibiotics well he gave me Cipro & Flagyl. I finished the second dose of antibiotics on Dec 24 and still continued to have severe pain in my lower left stomach. On Dec 29 I was in so much pain that I went back to the hospital and they took a contrast cat scan.
Avatar n tn After 9 months of living with colonoscopy bag, my dad had it removed, and his colon attached. Now he is having great pressure by the annal canal, close to where the colon was attached back. He says, he sometimes feels like he has to go to the bathroom, feels the pressure, but, once he is there, nothing happens. He feels this pressure while he is sitting or standing, no mather what. What do you think is the cause? and When Will He have control of his bowel movements?
Avatar m tn 5 days ago i noticed more blood in paper and set up an appointment for a CT colonoscopy. Two days ago i noticed that after having bowel movement at the end i had only blood. When using the laxative (during the bowel preparation) i had diarreah but no blood anymore. No weight loss, a LOT of appetite. My grandfather had colon cancer at the age of 85, but was treated with surgery and he died at the age of 96, from unrelated pathology.

Avatar n tn Have you had a colonoscopy. This could be from polups or hemorhoids. Most pollups are benign and can be removed. My husband had three removed a couple of years ago. If the discharge is accompanied by pain it could also be an ulceric condition. Both are not as uncommon as you may think but need to be treated.
Avatar n tn I am 70 years old, very active, thin, and in incredibly good health except for a chance colonoscopy that found a kazillion polyps, albeit without any symptoms. What went wrong, how do polyps develop, how can I rid myself of them besides and operation?
Avatar f tn Having my third colonscopy. I had one eight years ago and I cannot remember feeling so nervous. I had a polyp the first time and it was benign. The second colonoscopy was fine. I'm having a difficult time with feeling hungry and waiting to take the prep this afternoon. I've already started having diaherra because of my nerves. Guess I need to unload and find support on here. Looking forward to hearing from anyone.
Avatar n tn I recently underwent my first baseline colonoscopy. I was lightly sedated, but apparently I was a bit resistant to the scope entering any further than the first few inches of my rectum. It was reported that this was sufficient to determine all was well and it was also recommended I come back again in approximately five years. Do I just need to have more sedation next time or could I have a stenosis that caused me to subconsciously be resistive and uncomfortable. Should I be concerned?
212161 tn?1599427282 I do not think that you need to be worried about this at all. So go ahead and schedule your colonoscopy. Good luck.
