Avatar f tn I noticed a tremor in right hand around 3 months ago worst when i turned hand and would stop if i used the hand. At the same time, both palms became numb, hands, forearm weak. About a week later woke up numb from around knees down both legs then. Few days later entire left side of body became numb, tingling. Have continued to have intermittent numbness mainly in patches on left side. Left cheek has remained numb constantly.
Avatar n tn i also suffer from chronic constipation. Actually, diagnosed with colonic inertia a couple of weeks ago. They also did upper scope and gastric emptying study and found that I have a lazy/slow digesting stomach. This is the cause for the bloating. Whether or not I eat. I also look like i am pregnant. My husband calls me a chia pet because it will just start growing at times. Doc put me on domperidone, experimental drug for the stomach. Supposed to "jump start" digestion.
Avatar n tn Recently, i changed my diet by eating less sweets and more greens like avacado and korean seaweed. Since then i have had dark green poop. I havent had diarehea since the last time i was sick; about 6 months ago. i've also had stomach pains in my upper/lower area. What could be wrong? Are the vegetables turning it green? What should i do?
Avatar f tn burping, heartburn, upper abdominal bloating, burning stomach (below the tip of the breastbone), nausea, EARLY SATIETY. If it does not causes ulcer, then there is no blood in stool; in ulcer, blood would be black. Test for H. pylori: breath test. Gallbladder: cramping pain in upper RIGHT quadrant, just below the rib cage, usually within an hour after a FATTY meal. Pain often radiates into upper right back or shoulder. WBC can be elevated and some liver enzymes like GGT are elevated.
Avatar f tn Four years later. I had more pain on my right upper side. Tests showed that my stomach was twisted and could not empty like it should, causing pain and making it hard to breathe. I told my surgeon that it felt like more scar tissue. He did surgery and lo and behold. The scar ran from my galbladder to my stomach causing my stomach to fold over and twist. So if all else fails....insist that your doctor consider that it just may be scar tissue. I hope this helps.
Avatar n tn They seem most noticeable on my upper left side, and less so on my right side. Whenever they are most noticeable, my abdomen seems hardened in general across the top. Can an individual feel polyps by palpitating their own abdomen? After having a colonic and presumably removing material, I could still feel some of those lumps and the bloating was still evident.
Avatar f tn My two year old daughter was recently diagnosed with Colonic Lymphonodular hyperplasia via colonoscopy after bloody stools since July with intermittent ABD pain. She has a history of food intolerance and we thought it might be associated. The pedi gastro said she will possibly outgrow it. Last week her daily stools became more frequent ranging from 3-16 per day with significantly more frank blood. The cramping and pain has intensified waking her frequently in the night.

Avatar n tn Hello - I have this problem that occurs for approx 3 weeks every 3-4 months, and has been going on for the past 6 or so years. Essentially, as soon as I start eating, I have pain on the left side, and since it's immediate have to assume it's my stomach. It feels like my stomach is so full that it couldn't possibly take more food in, and yet, i've taken but a bite or two of my food.
Avatar n tn He said that typically people with this condition end up having to have entire colon removed eventually because if they only remove the one side then the other side eventually becomes sluggish. Has anyone else ever heard of this. I really want to keep the good parts of my colon if its working and just remove the parts that are not. Am I crazy. If anyone has gone through this, please let me know what you had done. Thanks!!!
Avatar f tn I am seeing a GI and a colon/rectal surgeon. I have been recently diagnosed with colonic inertia and have been advised to administer warm water enemas every other day for now. Laxatives do not work for me. Upon further testing of the stomach it appears that does not digest properly either (lazy). I have been placed on domperidone for that but not getting any relief from the bloating and full feeling.
Avatar f tn I am 50 years old and my surgeons which i have seen 2 and my family doctor say i have a classic case of colonic inertia. They want to do sugery in August. They will remove 80% of my colon. I have a slow moving digestive system and muscles that dobn't work in my colon. Any-one have anything similar. It is a life ultering treatment. I just want to feel normal again. Not bloat up every time I eat, and have tons of gas all the time.
Avatar f tn Biospy report says Sections show of the colonic biospy show a sessile serrated Adenoma In which no evidence of dysplasia or malignancy is seen, also Present are seperate fragments of Colonic Mucosa showing the presence Of a lymphoid aggregate . Multiple Levels have been performed .
Avatar n tn Not sure why you think you have colonic inertia because your doctor had a hard time performing a colonoscopy. Colonic inertia is extremely rare and indicates that the muscles of the colon do not function. It has nothing to do with the shape of the colon. You also do not develop this as a complication of surgery. I have colonic inertia and had my colon removed because of this 6 days ago. I am sitting in my hospital room as we speak.
Avatar n tn I had colonic inertia lost my colon. I would definitely suggest a colonoscopy, and a an upper and lower GI to check for blockages. You can dehydrated quickly.

Avatar m tn I've had severe constipation for a couple years now and after trying everything RX/OTC/Mineral oil retention w/Tap water enemas...many ER visits and hospital stays...I went to hospital 4 months ago (again) and they did SCINTIGRAPHY MOTILITY TESTING and after the 4th day, radioactive isotope was still between Cecum and Transverse colon. RESULT: "Severe Global Colonic Inertia".
Avatar n tn I'm really sorry that you are suffering. I absolutely understand. I'm not a doctor and I know nothing about this stuff but I'm learning through my own illness. Your symptoms could be SO many things including Post-Cholecystectomy Syndrome, Small Bowel Bacteria Overgrowth, Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction, pancreatitis, etc. I've found that physical and mental stress make my symptoms worse but stress is NOT the cause of my pain.
Avatar f tn Hi, Colonic inertia is a condition in which the nerves and/or muscles of the colon do not work normally. As a result, the contents of the colon are not propelled through the colon normally. The cause of colonic inertia is unclear. In some cases, the muscles or nerves of the colon are diseased. Colonic inertia also may be the result of the chronic use of stimulant laxatives .Please consult a neurologist for the review of the EMG results and get a nerve conduction study done .
Avatar n tn 3 years ago I underwent a partial colectomy for colonic inertia, leaving me with about 5 inches of the sigmoid colon. The surgery and recovery went very well. I have been pretty much constipation free since the surgery having 2 bowel movements a day most days. 3 months ago, I began experiencing constipation on a regular basis again, have had continual problems with acid and bile reflux and severe chest pain that feels like a heart attack.
Avatar n tn There is no clear cut association between hysterectomy and colonic inertia. Some of the causes of colonic inertia include inadequate water intake, inadequate fiber, lack of physical activity, increased stress, hypothyroidism, eating large amounts of dairy products, irritable bowel syndrome, neurological diseases and depression. Avoiding dairy products, warm liquids, fruits and vegetables and drnking plenty of water helps.
