Avatar f tn Welcome to the gastroenterology community! You can't reverse the process of diverticulosis. Colonic hydration won't do anything for it and I would not recommend doing it. If you have diverticulitis not diverticulosis (different things) then colonic hydration will actually make the problem worse. Make sure you are eating a lot of fiber for the diverticulosis.
Avatar n tn Polyp is usually a mushroom like mass growing from the colonic wall and bulging into the colon lumen. Histological examination will probably be made and then it will be said if polyps were cancerous or not. In diverticulosis small pouches bulge out from the colonic wall. They by themselves are not harmful but may cause constipation and may get inflammed (diverticulitis). So, it depends on your symptoms and on what exactly will be the result of investigation of polyps.
Avatar f tn Colonic diverticulosis, and there is a bowel loop medial to the cecum which has.a slightly thickened wall. This is probably the terminal ileum and is incompletely distended. Also a few mildly prominent mesenteric lymph nodes. And atelectasis in the right lung. Could.this mean cancer?
Avatar n tn the apprendix is well visualized and normal. Pancolonic diverticulosis is without evidence of diverticulitis. A small sliding hiatal hernia is noted. No free air or fluid in the abdomen or pelvis. the remaining visualized solid and hollow abdominal viscera are unremarkable. the osseuos structures are unremarkable. the lung bases are clear. As I stated earlier my symptoms were pain the lower left abdomen, right below the beltline. I have been doing much better yesterday and today.
Avatar n tn Left Inguinal hernia and Hiatal Hernia found. I knew about the Inguinal hernia...the other was new to me. Sever diverticulosis in the sigmoid colon with marked mural thickening. There is hyperemia of the sigmoid mesocolon with adjacent adenopathy measuring between 7-8mms in short axis. No other focol colonic leasions is seen. The thickening, luminal narrowing and even the hyperemia he said were in keeping with on going diverticulitis.

Avatar m tn I then saw a Urologist 6 months ago and had a c-scan to check for kidney stones. No stones, but they did notice diverticulosis on the scan. I then had two isolated instances of bright red blood in stool, so much that it turned toilet water red. Abdomin pain got worse. Saw primary care physician again 5.5 months ago and diagnosed w/ diverticulitis....she placed me on antibiotics and referred me to a Gastroenterologist. Antibiotics helped as well as low residue diet.

Avatar n tn Does one have pain with diverticulosis? Does diverticulosis and IBS often go together? This discussion is related to IBS pain relief? I might have found it..

Avatar m tn Pain in the left lower abdomen can be due to a number of conditions including the irritable bowel syndrome or intestinal spasm related to the presence of colonic diverticula. I am skeptical of concluding that your rectal bleeding is related to gastritis or diverticulitis. Diverticulitis is a condition where the pockets (or diverticula) become infected; this causes severe pain, fever, and usually constipation.
Avatar f tn Hi, Colonic inertia is a condition in which the nerves and/or muscles of the colon do not work normally. As a result, the contents of the colon are not propelled through the colon normally. The cause of colonic inertia is unclear. In some cases, the muscles or nerves of the colon are diseased. Colonic inertia also may be the result of the chronic use of stimulant laxatives .Please consult a neurologist for the review of the EMG results and get a nerve conduction study done .
Avatar n tn There is no clear cut association between hysterectomy and colonic inertia. Some of the causes of colonic inertia include inadequate water intake, inadequate fiber, lack of physical activity, increased stress, hypothyroidism, eating large amounts of dairy products, irritable bowel syndrome, neurological diseases and depression. Avoiding dairy products, warm liquids, fruits and vegetables and drnking plenty of water helps.
Avatar n tn You should see your doctor to rule out diverticulosis. If it is diverticulosis, it could progress to an inflammation (the called diverticulitits) and this can be serious if left untreated.

Avatar m tn About 3 years ago I was diagnosed with Diverticulosis. I had actually went from constant diarrhea to constipation. I would go sometimes up to 2 weeks without a bowel movement which I know is very dangerous and it was also very painful. What I need to know is if some of the symptoms that I am having is caused from this or something else. I have a lot of pain sometimes in my back as well as down both of my legs.
Avatar n tn I had a colonoscopy yesterday and the doctor said he took a sample to test for microscopic diverticulosis. What is that?? My Mom has diverticulitis, and I always thought that I had it too, because it hurts when I eat rice, corn and nuts. I usual stay away from those foods, but if I eat them I will pay in pain for weeks. What gives?
Avatar n tn The doctor gave me a CAT scan, said I had diverticulosis, a prescription for antibiotics and sulfur, a pat on the head, told me to check with my doctor.. My doctor ordered another CAT scan two weeks later which was pretty clear. She gave some handouts. Worse one was on January 12,. I retched so hard I felt pressure behind my eyeballs and cheek bones. Again very little came up. My ribs are sore from retching.. Everything I read says pain is the main symptom for this condition.
Avatar f tn I am 50 years old and my surgeons which i have seen 2 and my family doctor say i have a classic case of colonic inertia. They want to do sugery in August. They will remove 80% of my colon. I have a slow moving digestive system and muscles that dobn't work in my colon. Any-one have anything similar. It is a life ultering treatment. I just want to feel normal again. Not bloat up every time I eat, and have tons of gas all the time.
