Avatar m tn I'm having pain down the right side of my body in what seems like the whole of the ascending colon. It's hard to explain, there's also a pulse like pain that starts around my hip bone or the end of the ascending colon that travels up the ascending colon. I'm very uncomfortable after a meal and I can feel a little relief after I been to the toilet.
Avatar n tn When it cures me, I may request your help in spreading the word to others on this site with colon problems. After all, who wouldn't want to share a cure? :) Thanks for all the advice and help, I'll let you know how the detox program works!
Avatar n tn You have had a coloscopy that is recent and your findings at that time were not such to raise the suspicions of colon cancer then or now with your doctor. Colon cancer is slow growing and that is why screenings are important because it allows it to be caught in treatable stages. The family history you have has already been taken into consideration. I would think a question for the doctor would be if the insurance company was not an issue, would they think you needed a colonoscopy right now?
Avatar f tn Hello! I am here to ask afew questions regarding changes in poop consistency, is a something serious?at first I pooped hard small pellets liked and I was worried about my stools so I tried to use something to checked on my stools whether there were blood in it, so when I did that the toilet bowl water changes to dark red or something, I suspect there is blood hidden inside my stools, I checked for symptoms like this it jus mention CANCER. I am only 16 with no records of bowel/anal/colon cancer!
Avatar n tn there could be loads of different reasons for the above and i am sure all treatable but i would think if u have not been a trip to your doc would be in order.
Avatar f tn Digested and undigested food that remains in your intestines, primarily, your large intestines for two weeks can be somewhat toxic to your intestinal lining. Companies that advertise colon washes do not inform you that your necessary electrolytes that regulates your heart rhythms can be washed away from chemical colon washes. The greater damage might be that your bowels are less hydrated on a daily basis, and the bowels can solidify and become hard to expell.
877337 tn?1249844450 Hello, I am new to this forum. I have a couple of questions. Two years ago, I developed Graves' Disease. Since then, I have become more and more aware of my body and how it functions. Earlier this year, I realized that I was having trouble having BMs. My Gynocologist explained that it was most likely rectocele. It was suggested that I supplement with stool softeners, which made no difference. After talking with my GP, I changed to a mild laxative.

Avatar m tn Robert, I can't address the issue of the 'odds.' I'm not sure anyone can tell you anything about that until the tissue is checked by a pathologist. Whith the loss of (probably) the terminal ileum and some portion of the large colon/small colon, one of the things you will experience is the lack of a 'valve' that allows for measured amounts of contents to move from the end of the small intestine into the large intestine.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am a 33yr old female. I have been having bowel problems for the past few years. In the past year I have been seeing mucus, blood and blood clots (large ones) in my feces. About 4 months ago I had an extensive colonoscopy, which revealed I have IBS-C and a 'spastic colon'? Thankfully, there were no polyps or other masses. I changed my diet cutting out gluten which was a major irritate for me. However, it hasnt helped with my bowel movements.
Avatar f tn I have been having intestinal problems for about 3 months now. It started out as a stomach ache, which turned into constant diarrhea. Within 5 days I was in such intense pain that I ended up in the ER. They took a CT scan and noticed swelling in my lower intestine. They thought it was an infection, and gave me 10 days of antibiotics (cipro and flagyl). It immediately got better. However 3 weeks later it came back. I managed to get 10 more days of antibiotics and again it got better.
Avatar f tn primary Lung with muscle mets and Primary colon with lymph note mets. What are my chances of getting/having cancer and what screening tests are recommended. I am 44 and get an annual PAP and Mammogram, I have had colon polyps and get a colonoscopy every 5 years. Is there anything else I should do. I try not to worry but it is pretty nerve wracking at times.
Avatar f tn This is thought to be from bile salts making it to the colon rather than being re-absorbed appropriately. The fact that a portion of the terminal ileum is also resected is important as this piece of small intestine is crucial for the absorption of bile salts. Bile salt binders such as cholestyramine are usually very effective for treating this. By taking hese edications, the residual bile salts stick to the resin rather than irritating the colon.
Avatar n tn Hello and hope you are doing well. It could be due to an allergic reaction. It may help to maintain a food dairy and keep monitoring your symptoms. This will help to narrow the search and avoid them. But, abdominal bloating can happen with consumption of excess sugars, indigestion and aerophagia. It could also be due to Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), malabsorbtion, inflammatory bowel diseases and various infections of the colon.
Avatar f tn I am a 44-year old female who until five weeks ago, have never had an problems with my stomach or digestion. My youngest child had a 3-day stomach bug and my husband wound up being diagnosed with Hepatitis A the same week that I had a 'bug' of some sort that was the beginning of all of my problems. My GP said my bloodwork did NOT indicate hepatitis, and is sending me to the gastroenterologist.
