Colon polyps growth rate

Common Questions and Answers about Colon polyps growth rate

colon

Avatar m tn form where you develop fewer polyps at a slower rate. Both eventually both require that the colon be removed but with AFAP you can often make it till 60 before having to have it removed. Your GI doctor should have suspected this right away. Have you had a parent develop colon cancer at a young age? You need to have FAP ruled out because there are many facets to it that you need to be aware of.
Avatar n tn Hi, you did not mention the diameter of your polyps. Small polyps can be missed in the first colonoscopy. Also, it depends on whether you've been eating healthy (red meat and low vitamin D speed the growth). Finally, you might ask your doctor to do a genetic testing if they keep growing in large numbers. You also didn't mention where the polyps were found.
Avatar f tn My mother in law have colon polyps and they checked it its not cancer, they took some off while they did the exam and told her to come and check it after 2 month, when they check it after 2 month they saw more polyps that grow in the colon this time about 8 mm and the other from before was 3 centimetre and they said they cant take it no more because its keep growing, what do you think the cause for that and why it keep growing and what we can do for that?
Avatar f tn t. But there was a reputable study done on taking aspirin daily helps prevent the growth of polyps. Gastroenterologists are well aware of this, and I would ask yours about the aspirin regimen. I'm not sure if it's 81mg or higher. But all medical conditions need to be considered before starting any aspirin regimen over 81mg. Doctors have for some time recommend 81mg daily for the heart, and it was from this that they learned how it affects the growth of polyps. Take care.
Avatar f tn Only my grandma, nobody else even polyps. My parents who are over 50 both got colonoscapes, neither one of them had any polyps. Diet. Colon cancer and rectal cancer may be associated with a diet low in fiber and high in fat and calories: Probably A sedentary lifestyle: Yeah, but do try to get at least a little bit of exercise each day. Diabetes: Nope Obesity: I'm only 135 pounds Smoking. I don't smoke Alcohol: I don't drink Growth hormone disorder: I don't think so.
974371 tn?1424653129 Have a friend that is about 82. He had surgery fop or colon cancer about two years ago. He has been on some type of Chemo and oral meds since. Was told on one CAT scan, it was stable. Last CAT scan showed rumors had gotten bigger. I don't have many details. The doctor has stopped the Chemo and Cancer meds. Said he discussed it with some board and no other treatment suggested. I find this hard to believe! Can't they do surgery again to remove the rumors?
1703392 tn?1307450500 How frequent will be determined on the size of polyps and their growth rate that they find. Generally, polyps less than 1.5cm in size are easy to resect endoscopically. Anything larger than that will be at higher bleeding risk - which happened to me before and I had to be admitted to hospital thru ER for bleeding control & monitoring. In fact, even if my polyps were benign, I'd still end up in OR b/c of the hemarrhage.

Avatar f tn My youngest son was diagnosed at 12 had his colon removed and is 39 now. He has several polyps in his duodenum which they have been watching for years. They normally don't become malignant in this area but can. My grandson was diagnosed at 10, and we lost him last year at the age of 18, also to a Desmoid. You are fortunate in that you have the attenuated form of FAP, where once polyps start developing there are few and can be removed via colonoscopy in the beginning.
Avatar f tn Hi, you cannot male decisions on pathology report alone. First of all, whenever you get a path report indicating cancer, ALWAYS ask your doctor to send the glass slides to a major cancer center with good pathology department for a second opinion. It looks like your tumor is in situ and slow growing one (well differentiated and no lymphovascular invasion are a good thing, but again, these findings need to be confirmed by a second opinion).
Avatar n tn Today, he was scheduled for surgery to remove some colon polyps. Just as they put him under the anesthesia, his resting heart rate dropped to 30 bpm. He was barely under as this happened (he said that he could hear them start to talk about it). They did not end up doing the surgery and he was awake about a half hour later. My question is this: Is this normal for a heart patient to have this drop in heart rate under anesthesia? Is 30 bpm ok for the patient to have?
Avatar n tn I was told that I need to do a colonoscopy every year for the rest of my life to ensure that no other polyps or colon cancer develops. Is there any dietary recommendations that could decrease my chance of getting another polyp in my colon or anything else that I should think of. I eat very health food, exercise between 3-5 times a week and drink very little alcohol. I believe that this occurs mostly for people over 50 years old, what could be the reasons why I got a polyp in my colon?
Avatar f tn Have 3 large polyps on right side of colon got to have surgery is there any concerns?
577395 tn?1277401364 He had his 1st colonoscopy yesterday. The doctor removed multiple polyps and didn't remove, biopsied 2 polyps. Biopsy results will be ready Aug. 14. Looking at the report makes me realy scared, that he might have colon cancer. Can you please look at it and give me some insight. Really appreciate your help! Any additional information will help. What scares me the most in the reort is Hepatic Flexure.
Avatar n tn removed 5 polyps, one which was abnormally large. They were sent for bioyopsy. What kind of risk am I for colon cancer? I have severe constipation, bleeding rectally and in stools, bloating most of the time, extremely gasy, and suffer from acid reflux.
Avatar m tn My doctor could not complete the colonscopy due to my long colon. (I have a tortuous colon.) Here is my problem - he saw 3 polyps, but could only reach 1 of them to remove. He wants me to return for another optical colonoscopy, where he will "put me all the way under" (anesthesia), then attempt to remove the other 2 polyps he saw, then attempt to look at the rest of the colon and remove any more polyps. I am scared.
Avatar n tn a new study shows that eating three servings of fish per week appears to cut the risk of developing colon polyps that could lead to cancer. Researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health and Vanderbilt University in Tennessee surveyed more than 5,300 individuals about their eating habits. All of those surveyed also had colonoscopies.
Avatar f tn My indications for remove colon surgery were 2 cancerous colon polyps on 2 distant places in colon. Who suggest You to go to total colectomy? I'm not sure that constipations are indications for such surgical intervention. I live in Belgrade, Serbia(Europe). My surgery took place in Belgrade on the Institute of oncology and radiology. I think that total colectomy intervention is very safe here - mortality is at very low level.
Avatar f tn I am terrified of having colon cancer well actually having colon cancer that has gone too far... I just wanted to let you know ( those who know my anxiety) that I am going to get done.. wish me luck!!! and good outcome.
Avatar m tn Wow I would never have expected these polyps to develop at such a fast rate and we are now dealing with a cancerous situation and a less that 100% chance of survival" regards Morecambe
Avatar m tn ve had two colonscopies since age 50, my first colonoscopy found a pre-cancerous polyp (had a more dangerous figure, I was told) along with other benign polyps that was which was removed (had no side effects after) I did a follow up colonscopy the year after and another pre-cancerous polyp (except to a lesser degree) was found and removed along with other benign polyps around the same area, the 2nd colonoscopy from a different surgeon I had a lot of stomach pain after.
Avatar f tn My doc is having me test for Lupus and rheumotoid also.. I now the last colonoscopy i had done i had two colon polyps removed 2 yrs ago..i think i remember him saying that he couldn't get to one part of the colon.. 1506428 tn?1290113504 They found three small polyps in my cecum (1-2mm) and one mid-sized polyp in my mid ascending colon (6-8mm). Also, there were large discontinuous areas of inflammation in my ascending and descending colon with large amounts of adherent mucus. They removed all of the polyps and took tissue samples for histology and virology (they are testing for C.
Avatar n tn Why polyps have been grown so fast in my colon, particularly why the polyps found in the last two years all had moderate dysplasia? Does it mean that there are some demons in my digest system or in my body that have been making these pre-cancerous conditions in my colon? 2. Do I need do some further exam, such as CT, ultrasound scans or CA19-9, CEA blood tests to exlude some potential bad causes in my digest sysytem or other related part of my body?
Avatar f tn I was as well found with cancerous colon polyps. They recommend at least 3-5 year check up on sometimes the size of the polyp. They don't want to check on colon polyps every year unless needed because when someone gets an endoscopy or colonoscopy they fill your stomach with air which give you a hernia until you release the air.
Avatar n tn Hi, I don't want to worry you, but do you have a history of colon cancer in your family? I ask this because we do, and the first symptom were mutliple polyps in the colon. BUT with our disease the polyps don't appear until around age 10 and through puberty. Polyps always start out benign and can, not always, turn malignant. The disease in our family is FAP, and my children were being scoped yearly for this. They were found in both my sons at ages 12 & 16, and my grandson @ 10.
Avatar n tn I have a half brother that died from colon cancer. My family has a history of polyps, thus I had my first colonoscopy at 37 (2 polyps) then at 46 (2 polyps) All benign thankfully. I've had complete annual physicals for the past 5 years and all good thankfully. I am due for a colonoscopy and am stressing about more polyps. Also have anxiety and that's flaring up because of the colonoscopy. Should I be concerned? Thank you!
