Avatar f tn A cleansing diet would be rearranging your entire diet, for a short time or forever, to emphasize cleansing toxins out of your colon, liver, and other organs. The reason you read about fasting a lot is that it's the best cleansing diet there is -- you take in no toxins while your body has the opportunity to clean itself out in the meantime. How long to fast is controversial, but when first starting out it's usually recommended to do one day, then move on later to two, etc.
Avatar m tn just a question, I was at GNC today and saw a product for colon or gastro cleansing. Has anyone used these, does it work and is it healty?
Avatar n tn If colon cleansing was beneficial, why wouldn’t our doctors order them?
Avatar f tn This is going to be late for you, but you should never take liver cleansers while taking medication. What you're describing is a combination colon/liver cleanse. Milk thistle and yellowdock, for example, are liver cleansers, and could theoretically wash some of the medication out of our system, as the body sees virtually all medication as toxic.

Avatar m tn I think it depends on the type of enema. Using enemas frequently for constipation can cause your rectum to "forget" how to have a bowel movement naturally. Using enemas for "colon cleansing", I believe is not good, because your colon doesn't need any cleansing, it does this itself.
350945 tn?1274423121 Hi, I may have MS or Fibro or both but my mom has Fibro and Chemical sensitives and does this colon cleansing and swears by it. I am personally thinking no way for me but I am chicken for sure. She has done it on and off for years and I must say she is in much better shape then before and better then me. SO I guess if you have the right person and you can handle this I have seen it work.
1454383 tn?1288947277 If this is the Natural Clean I'm thinking of, it's for cleaning drugs out of your system to pass a drug test, not a colon cleanser. Maximum burn is a scam -- acai berry is, like all berries, high in antioxidants, but it won't help you lose weight. Real colon cleansers are based on fiber such as psyllium and some have laxatives in them, which aren't healthy, such as diet teas.
Avatar m tn What is your diet? Even if your colon moves slowly, you can re-educate your bowel. 1) Physical therapy You need to educate your colon to start moving faster again. Physical therapy is more effective than any laxatives on the market but it takes time and patience. Find someone who specializes in pelvic floor dysfunction. It could really help you. 2) STOP taking laxatives The more laxatives you take, the more it makes your colon lazy.
Avatar f tn I had loose stools for a couple days before I went into labor with my first 2 kiddos I think it's nature's way of cleansing the colon.
Avatar f tn Hello I am a person who has suffered for at least 3 - 4 years with diverticulitis with on set of problems relating to my being extremely bloating, constipated you name it, and the PAIN unbearable at times. Yet I have tried everything Fiber in my diet, changing my eating habits, eating smaller amounts so I wouldn't feel as bloated or constipated. What can be done? 569755 tn?1220872102 But this is considered the number one colon cleansing program in the world, and is very safe. There is a FAQ page on the site that answers the majority of questions regarding the cleanse if you would like to inquire further. Anyway, I hope you find a cure, whether it be this program or not (although I personally recommend it), and the link is posted below. See ya! drnatura.
Avatar m tn Make an appointment with a gastroenterologist. It is costly if you don't have an insurance, regardless of age, if you are in doubt, consult with the Gas.. to have a colon scan. It takes a day of cleansing and a day of check up. Don't wait till too late. Colonsnocopy is suggested to the over 50 but no longer truth. You may develop a polyp in your 20s 30s 40s as well. Check if in doubt. When you see blool in your stool, act quickly. Polyp if not taken care, will turn bad.
Avatar f tn Diane, I'm a bit confused. It's the small intestine that breaks down and absorbs the nutrients. The major function of the colon is to extract the majority of the fluids that are passed through to it, and to 'compact' the 'feft-over' food substances into a stool to be passed out of the body. So I don't understand why your doc is suggesting removal of your colon.
Avatar n tn s certainly possible to do that in theory, I suppose, if you did it all the time. Periodic cleansing, either by fasting or cleansing, would seem to present a more hospitable environment for beneficial organisms by keeping it healthy, but who knows?
Avatar f tn Is it true that it is normal to have them. I saw that you can do a colon cleanse to get rid of them, but if we need them, should I do a cleanse. Also I have IBS so I don't know if a cleanse would be a good idea.
403399 tn?1201833095 AFTER you've gotten through the withdrawals, drive to GNC and purchase the Cleansing Formula.. it has NO laxative in it, completely safe, doesn't cause diarrhea, and it cleanses the liver, kidneys, and safely the colon as well.. I've been taking it for over a year now.. you use it for daily maintenance.. I've never felt better in my entire life! I started taking it over a year ago because my liver and kidneys were hurting and acting up because of the long term Tramadol usage..
Avatar f tn But I am very concerned about what may be going on here, considering Cohns disease and colon cancer. My stool over the past couples of weeks has been like never seen before. Upon flushing the toilet the feces acts like a bundle of sand in the ocean after a wave. Very loose and grainy. The color is dark, dark brown.
425312 tn?1279966179 In my opinion, the whole colon cleansing thing is a scam. Around 5 years ago I had a colonoscopy done. They put you through a three-day fasting/fluid drinking thing before that. But no enemas or other fluid induction. As they were doing the procedure (it is no big deal by the way), I could see my colon on the TV screen. It was as fresh and clean as a . . . well . . . baby's bottom. So I don't take this stuff about stuff accumulating in your colon seriously anymore.
392430 tn?1382904781 ^_^ So when I make smoothies I start with about a cup or so of whole milk yogurt (Stonyfield Organic Cream Top is SO good), I add veggies, fruit, some whole milk to thin it out and then blend away until smooth. I have a stick blender and I just blend it right in the quart size yogurt container and store in the fridge. For veggies I use frozen squash, peas, carrots, spinach, baked sweet potato. For fruit I have a frozen mix from Costco that has peaches, strawberry, honeydew melon and pineapple.
