Common Questions and Answers about Colon cleansing juice fasting

colon

Avatar f tn A cleansing diet would be rearranging your entire diet, for a short time or forever, to emphasize cleansing toxins out of your colon, liver, and other organs. The reason you read about fasting a lot is that it's the best cleansing diet there is -- you take in no toxins while your body has the opportunity to clean itself out in the meantime. How long to fast is controversial, but when first starting out it's usually recommended to do one day, then move on later to two, etc.
Avatar n tn If colon cleansing was beneficial, why wouldn’t our doctors order them?
Avatar f tn Anyway, just wondering if anyone here has ever done any juice fasting and what your experience was like. Researching online suggested that there are even "liver cleansing" vegetables; beets, watercress... . *Disclaimer* don't undertake fasting without doctors approval as it isn't appropriate in many medical cases.
Avatar m tn just a question, I was at GNC today and saw a product for colon or gastro cleansing. Has anyone used these, does it work and is it healty?
Avatar m tn You should also look into water fasting and juice fasting. Obviously, if you do this, you will need to find a good health center because you can't do this on your own. Here's a great article on fasting : http://****.com/fasting.html Be kind to your colon. Healing takes time.
Avatar n tn s certainly possible to do that in theory, I suppose, if you did it all the time. Periodic cleansing, either by fasting or cleansing, would seem to present a more hospitable environment for beneficial organisms by keeping it healthy, but who knows?
Avatar f tn Simplest cleanse is fasting, but cleansing what? There are liver cleanses, colon cleanses, kidney cleanses -- they can be very good for health, but not very useful for losing weight in a healthy fashion because the weight will just come back as soon as you return to your normal way of eating.
9438937 tn?1403776528 What do you mean by "fast"? What are you taking in? Just water? A body needs a certain amount of calories to function, and a balanced diet is best. What made you want to fast? Weight loss? If so, that's not the right way to go about it, and it definitely would explain the symptoms you're having.
Avatar f tn Well, then, some people swear by cleansing and fasting and that sort of thing, clearing out the digestive tract. If you are miserable with your digestion, I can see no harm in giving something like that a shot! Also, I had three docs looking at me when I had IBS, no one knew what it was, and it as ME who figured it out, so I applaud your research into your condition, could be you'll figure it out like I did.
425312 tn?1279966179 In my opinion, the whole colon cleansing thing is a scam. Around 5 years ago I had a colonoscopy done. They put you through a three-day fasting/fluid drinking thing before that. But no enemas or other fluid induction. As they were doing the procedure (it is no big deal by the way), I could see my colon on the TV screen. It was as fresh and clean as a . . . well . . . baby's bottom. So I don't take this stuff about stuff accumulating in your colon seriously anymore.
Avatar f tn This cleanse is meant to be used as a juice fast and laxative-based colon detox. You want to use it differently. I have no idea if this works if you do it the way they suggest, though I can almost guarantee the cleanse has nothing to do with weight loss -- if you stop eating of course you'll lose weight. When you start eating again, unless you change your diet, you'll gain the weight back. Using laxatives can be helpful in a short-term fast, but they can also be tricky.
Avatar m tn and weigh 250 lbs so the county hospital doctor where i recieve my care wants me to lose 30 something lbs and so far i have gained weight. sooo..... i would like to go on a juice fast. 30 years or so in the past i used to do these with excellent results but back then i wasnt taking prevacid.if i go on this fast after a few days the body's organs shut down and go into detox or cleansing mode for lack of a medical term on my part if i'm not mistaken.
Avatar n tn None of them has helped the symptoms except maybe the colon that stuck out seems to do that less now. I tried doing enemas, mild colon cleansing herbs, prune juice, psyllium husk powder with lots of water, and aloe vera juice. Any more suggestions?
Avatar f tn Liver Cleanse and Gallbladder Flush (Alternative Procedure) An alternative procedure to Step 3 above combines gallbladder flush with liver flush. It uses apple juice fasting, as described below (based on Herbally Yours, by Penny C. Royal, Sound Nutrition, Utah, 1982). I would like to caution that people with cancer, candida yeast infection, diabetes, hypoglycemia or stomach ulcer should not use this apple juice fasting procedure because of the high sugar content in the apple juice.
Avatar f tn you run the risk of having an adverse reaction using liver cleansing products when u r still consuming alcohol...whens the last time u had a fasting CBC and liver enzyme profile?
403399 tn?1201833095 AFTER you've gotten through the withdrawals, drive to GNC and purchase the Cleansing Formula.. it has NO laxative in it, completely safe, doesn't cause diarrhea, and it cleanses the liver, kidneys, and safely the colon as well.. I've been taking it for over a year now.. you use it for daily maintenance.. I've never felt better in my entire life! I started taking it over a year ago because my liver and kidneys were hurting and acting up because of the long term Tramadol usage..
Avatar f tn I have tried juice fasting to eliminate chronic pains, to lose weight. It works well for me.
Avatar f tn This is going to be late for you, but you should never take liver cleansers while taking medication. What you're describing is a combination colon/liver cleanse. Milk thistle and yellowdock, for example, are liver cleansers, and could theoretically wash some of the medication out of our system, as the body sees virtually all medication as toxic.
1378071 tn?1313420821 Has anyone tried the ACIA / COLON cleansing pills, drink whatever.... they say the fat just comes right off?!?! Comeon now... Does that really work, im trying to get opinons before i try it!!!
451343 tn?1256250831 t take over night to get myself in this position, all though it sometimes feels like it happened over night. just want to feel normal what ever that is. wondering about colon cleansing. i have some colon cleansing formula. wondering if i should wait to take them or what. i just feel like invasion of the body snatchers. i want my body back. i let those damn pills rob my body of sooooooooooo much. feeling a bit like a failure. im sure that will pass.
Avatar f tn I'm a newbie on here and am hoping that you all can help me out. I'm a 50yr old lady that has been pretty healthy all my life except for colon cancer in 2002. That was not fun, but got through it. I went for my annual checkup last week and my Dr. did blood work on me. No elevated protein in the blood, blood sugars are fine, cholesterol is up a bit --206 (last year it was 199), but what concerns her and me...
Avatar m tn I think it depends on the type of enema. Using enemas frequently for constipation can cause your rectum to "forget" how to have a bowel movement naturally. Using enemas for "colon cleansing", I believe is not good, because your colon doesn't need any cleansing, it does this itself.
350945 tn?1274423121 Hi, I may have MS or Fibro or both but my mom has Fibro and Chemical sensitives and does this colon cleansing and swears by it. I am personally thinking no way for me but I am chicken for sure. She has done it on and off for years and I must say she is in much better shape then before and better then me. SO I guess if you have the right person and you can handle this I have seen it work.
