Avatar m tn Patients with higher vitamin D levels had half the death rates compared of those with lower vitamin D levels. A Japanese study found a similar effect for rectal cancer but not colon cancer. Neither of these studies used vitamin D to treat colorectal cancer. However, vitamin D supplements may increase survival rates. Some cancer treatment centers are giving patients 5000 IU/day of vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol).
20846676 tn?1533691015 I take my meds on time all the time but still the same thing with the fatigue, then I had done some fasting appointments with my primary and was told I am vitamin D deficient and for the rest of my life I would have to take 2000 units of vitamin D every day which I have been doing thus far. The bleeding is getting worse and no I seem to be having these small lumps under my skin starting to develop around different parts of my body.
Avatar m tn Patients with cancer are at high risk for vitamin D deficiency. Sensible sun exposure, vitamin D fortification and vitamin D supplementation should be encouraged to improve the vitamin D status of children and adults not only for bone health but for reducing risk of developing and dying of cancer. The goal is to achieve a blood level of 25-hydroxyvitamin D of 40-60 ng/mL.
Avatar f tn Web reports are starting to link Vitamin D deficiency to depression, fibromyalgia, colon cancer and lot of other things. Of course, you have to take what you read on the web with a grain of salt :*) So please have your doctor check your Vitamin D levels.
Avatar n tn I am taking 50,000 mg of vitamin D once a week and will have my vitamin D checked again after 4 weeks. My appointment is for the 10th. Just wondering how your vitamin D has reacted to the treatment if you also have chrons.
Avatar f tn Vitamin D deficiency is commonly due to not enough sunlight. However, the causes of vitamin D deficiency are numerous and you may have more than one condition contributing to this deficiency. Vitamin D deficiency is estimated to affect at least a billion people worldwide. When vitamin D levels are not rising well or at all (vitamin D resistance) low magnesium levels are the first suspect. High doses of vitamin D can worsen an existing magnesium deficiency.
Avatar m tn cold, flu, osteoporosis, higher risk of cancer specifically breast, colon, and prostate, higher risk of multiple sclerosis, increased risk of death from heart disease.... One vitamin you want in optimal levels!
199177 tn?1490498534 It may be due to a diet, which is very low in this vitamin, along with inadequate exposure to sunlight. Another reason for low vitamin D levels is the body's inability to absorb this vitamin, owing to some medical conditions, diseases and disorders. Conditions like liver and kidney disorders can prevent the conversion of vitamin D to its active metabolites. Some hereditary disorders can also hinder this conversion process.
Avatar f tn Also, should i be giving my kids vitamin D??? or should i just have them drink alot of vitamin d fortified milk?? I would do whatever i could to prevent them from getting it..Too bad they didnt know about it years ago when i was pregnant. I live in NJ--not enough sun year round here. I also was born in April...My one daughter born in May, the other February, although her due date was beg. of March. Again, had I known, i would have had fall or winter babies. Avatar f tn Please post the reference ranges for the T3 and Free T4. Ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own report. Also, your doctor ordered Total T3, which is considered obsolete and of little value. You should try to get Free T3, which is the hormone actually used by individual cells. According to ranges we, typically, see for FT4, your level is very low in the range. Your vitamin D is too low. What symptoms are you having?
Avatar f tn It's not usually due to something as serious as cancer.....I live in Oregon and was told that it's due to the latitude and longitude of where I live as well as the lack of sunshine here........and a poor diet. The supplement pills had no noticable side effects and corrected my level in 12 weeks. I've had to repeat the treatment about once a year though. I think one thing that can be problematic is if you need surgery......
Avatar f tn Iron-Rich Foods, Iron-Related Genes and Colon Cancer (Colorectal Cancer). Iron-rich red meat - beef, pork, lamb - can increase the risk of colon/colorectal cancer. Cancerous cells are iron-overloaded (iron-rich, iron-saturated) cells. Primary tumors always develop at body sites of excessive iron deposits. Some might expect that since the vegan diet contains a form of iron that is not that well absorbed, vegans might be prone to developing iron-deficiency anemia.
757137 tn?1347196453 Colon cancer is a DIRECT result of the inflamation there in the colon.......I read a research paper several years ago about how high colon cancer incidence was in people with IBD. It was a big percentage getting colon cancer so START drinking decaf coffee, Taking large amounts of vitamin K2 and consider tocotrienols.....just google these 3 things individually and cancer to be amazed.
Avatar m tn s estimated to affect half the planet has vitamin D deficiency. Considering that anything from cold to cancer is linked to vitamin D deficiency this is not surprising. Magnesium is the boss of all the major minerals (calcium, sodium, potassium) and the powerful steroid hormone that was misnamed a vitamin - vitamin D. Don't mess with the boss or you will see you are still vitamin D deficient after all that supplementation. Bonus tip: fat doesn't make you fat but high insulin does.
Avatar m tn Researchers in Europe have found that people with abundant levels of vitamin D -- the so-called sunshine vitamin -- have a much lower risk of colon cancer. The findings add to a growing body of evidence that suggest vitamin D may have the power to help prevent colon cancer and possibly even improve survival in those who have the disease. The body makes vitamin D after the skin absorbs some of the sun's rays.
1042487 tn?1275279899 As we migrated away from the equator ,therefore reducing our exposure to the sun, natural selection quickly eliminated most of the melanin pigmentation from our skin to compensate for the much weaker levels of UV radiation avaible for making Vitamin D. Today we are passing most of our time indoors and this is why we need Vitamin D supplements of at least 1,000UI per day.
Avatar f tn I saw several people walk away cancer free, (breast, lung, colon and pancreatic). Unfortunately, I have a blood cancer and it did not work for me. I certainly believe it is worth a try. Best of Luck!
