Avatar n tn Hello, I am a healthy 30 year female. I've always had a sensitive stomach for as long as I can remember and lots of gas, especially after eating. Lately I noticed that if I ate smaller meals and slower that helped with the gas. Over the past few months, I've changed my diet slightly (less sugar and carbs) but I've noticed a weight loss of about 10 pounds (it seemed a little too easy) Also, I have a bowel movement about 2 times a day.
Avatar f tn My Mother is 78 years old suffering from depression, dementia, failure to thrive since losing her husband two years ago. She had colon cancer in 1995 and they removed a foot of her colon and surrounding lymph nodes without any other cancer treatment needed. She had a follow up colonoscopy in August 2001 and this is the only one she has had. She is refusing any diagnostic testing including labs as she has stated she is just wanting to die naturally.
Avatar f tn Sure, you can get a colonoscopy whether or not you are a virgin. They aren't doing anything to your vagina, it's your anus that is the business end with a colonoscopy. I don't know how much they cost, but if it is a lot, I'd just try to get some insurance instead. The only thing is, they might not book you for one if you're only 21, since colon cancer is not a young person's disease, unless you have a recommendation from a doctor.
Avatar n tn My mother has metastatic colon cancer and in her mid-thirties was diagnosed with uterine cancer and had a complete hysterectomy. I am being told that this raises my risk of ovarian cancer IF my mother has the MLH1 or MSH2 gene (along with other cancers like stomach, kidney/urinary tract, brain, biliary tract, and small bowel). I am going to talk with her and ask if she will be tested.
Avatar n tn The original testing indicated iron deficiency anemia. The doctors all suspected colon cancer was the cause (wrong--I've now seen the inside of my colon). I eat a lot of iron rich foods. I eat a lot of citrus. Vitamin A/Bata carotene—something to inquire about. I don't eat a lot phytic acid sources. They did the thyroid function tests.
580089 tn?1226094084 I am not in a clinical trial but my combination of drugs is part of a study for mets colon cancer on the liver. Now with that said my OVCA is not acting like OVCA but more like colon cancer...so that is why I am not in the clinical trial. but am using that drug combo. Hope you are doing well.
Avatar f tn does coughing and wheezing more {as asmatic anyway} have any bearings on colon cancer
Avatar f tn Colon cancer can be extremely hereditary! My mother-in-law has 4th stage colon cancer and it was recommended to my husband and his sister to have a colonoscopy at 40 years old. He did and they found 1 small (3mm) sized tumor that was found to be pre-cancerous. His sister's result was clear. So, that's 50% chance right there. I agree with quinroxanne, be very vigilant! Good luck.

Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with colon cancer 8 years ago and they removed 19 inches of my colon at that time. Now, I had a PET scan done a few weeks ago and a spot (size of a lima) bean was found. I was sent to an orthopaedic doctor and he has discussed the scans with 4 radiologist and they will not commit 100% it is not cancer. So, now they ahve requested a CT/biopsy after a consultation with an Interventional radiologist next week. Do you feel this could be cancer?
Avatar m tn My husband's 1st wife had colon cancer. It was discovered too late, & she passed away at the age of 24 saddly. Your symptoms don't sound like what my husband told me she had. She started having symptoms in her late teens... chronic constipation, stomach pain, etc. One day while she was away at college, she started throwing up really hard & thought she had a virus. She was staying really tired & just couldn't shake it.

Avatar n tn I took her to the doctor, but they are referring her to a specialist for a CT scan and a colonoscopy. Does this sound like colon cancer? If so, what should I expect? Is there anything else that it could be? I'm really worried about her.
Avatar n tn Can you describe the pain you feel? Abdominal pain is rare in colon cancer. Cancer of the colon and rectum can exhibit itself in several ways such as: bleeding from your rectum or blood mixed with your stool; fatigue and pale skin; abdominal distension; abdominal pain; persistent nausea or vomiting; unexplained weight loss; change in frequency or character of stool; sensation of incomplete evacuation after a bowel movement or rectal pain. The duration of symptoms usually takes 14 weeks.
Avatar m tn I had surgery in Feb. 2011 for colon tumer and after biopsy 2nd.stage cancer was detected. Then I had gone trough chemotherapy os six cycle of Folfox 4. After completion of chemotherapy during check up a polyp (2mm) was found in colon. After six months PET scan has been done and no metastat was found. My age is 61 year. I go for walking daily morning for 40 minutes and also busy in my job. My weight is constant. I have no major problem.
Avatar m tn No one in my family has had colon cancer. Three months ago I was diagnosed with mono, which really brought down my whole immune system. I then had walking pneumonia. I had sinus infections in between too, which caused me to take many antibiotics. I have a severely sensitive stomach and the antibiotics ruined my stomach. Ever since than, I have been very nauseous, no energy at all, loss of appetite, and some pain in my left lower abdomen.
Avatar n tn I have been reading for colon cancer symptoms and I am thinking that the melanoma has spread. However I have not lost any weight, do not feel nauseaous, have not vomited, do not feel weak, my apetite is the same as before and I have another symptom that I haven't seen listed for colon cancer. I feel like if I had something inside my stomach(like water) and if I move I feel it move too. Does anyone know what this might be?
Avatar f tn It is difficult to comment without examining. Frank blood is usually not a sign of colon cancer. However since you bleed and itch around anus I feel they could be hemorrhoids that have got infected or twisted. These could also be anal skin tags or even warts. “Medical treatment of hemorrhoids is aimed initially at relieving symptoms.
