Avatar n tn Londres is certainly correct that there are a few other options available to treat what could be assumed to be familial hypercholesterolaemia, even though your doctor has obviously tried those that would be most obvious. Generally, if you experience muscle weakness as a side effect of Lipitor (atorvastatin), other statins will produce similar effects, so that eliminates the use of Zocor (simvastatin), Crestor (rosuvastatin) etc.
Avatar f tn s complications such as pancreatic insufficiency, for which I take Creon enzymes with each meal, and Colesevelam for bile salts. We cannot prescribe any drugs as a lot of them are toxic, and can only be prescribed by a Gastroenterologist. I would suggest you have a consultation with your own gastro and heed his advice - they are the experts, not us! Take care, Liz.
Avatar f tn Welcome to the IBS community! Yes this does sound like it could be IBS. Hav eyou seen a gastroenterologist about this? Have you had any testing done?
5553333 tn?1369941048 I am a little self diagnosed with IBS but I did pay a trip to the doctor and he said IBS could be the case, along with lactose intolerance. I am supposed to visit the doctor again in a few weeks and I have been learning to control my IBS. Do you think IBS could be the situation I am in? Or does it sound like something else?
Avatar n tn I have IBS, low iron, hair loss.....Please tell how to make this problem more livable....I have the diarrhea type of IBS and have been taking a powder/H2O and eating more fibrous foods, cut caffeine & sugar....But stools are still very loose. Sometimes feel extreme urge to go and even have lower bowel cramping. Have lost weight, strength, and am tired most of the time. Have had overwhelming stress in my life for the past 10 years, but situation getting now. HELP!!!!!!!!!
Avatar f tn Symptoms for IBS can be triggered by certain precipitating factors. Treatment for IBS is avoiding triggering factors which initiate or worsen the symptoms of IBS like exercise for you – very sensitive bowel may react to normal exercise of everyday living. You can stop exercise and see if your symptoms are improving. Once stabilized, you can slowly introduce mild exercises like walking and then progress further. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I have IBS. Havent moved my bowels in 3 days. I eat a high fiber diet. I am stressed. Should I take some laxatives? I eat all bran buds for breakfast every morning. I have lazy bowels. I eat apples, oranges, plums. I dont know what i am doing wrong. I am in alot of pain right now, being backed up with feces. Please help me!!
Avatar m tn The pain and the bowel symptoms could be due to IBS. But IBS is a diagnosis of exclusion, i.e. once all other diseases of the colon like colitis, infections, tumors etc. have been ruled out, then the diagnosis of IBS is made. Please consult your doctor, who may ask for blood tests and sometimes a colonoscopy to rule out these conditions. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn i had liver inflammation and then my ibs-kind symptoms started: gas, bloating, constipation and mucous in the stool. i have these symptoms everyday around 6 months.
Avatar f tn This rarely happens after eating later in the day. I have been to 2 doctors....one says IBS and has tried unsuccessfully to control it, the other says this is normal, to just ignore it. Any ideas on what I could try?
Avatar f tn Welcome to the IBS community! It sounds like you could have IBS. You also might be having symptoms from being on antibiotics which killed off the good bacteria in your colon. You might want to try going on a probiotic.
Avatar m tn Welcome to the IBS community! Have you seen a doctor about this? Have you had any testing done? Have you tried eliminating anything from your diet?
Avatar m tn Yes, you could have IBS. Or you could simply have a slow digestive track. This happens. My son has one. He will get 'impacted' with his own feces. It's painful. All these UTI's--- was each one found through culture? Where they found bacteria growing in your urine? Otherwise, that's irresponsible to keep treating you for it if it wasn't showing through lab work! If it showed through lab work, then I'd investigate all the UTI's.
Avatar f tn m not a doctor. But as Melissa said it could be IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), you could have an intestinal blockage or something else altogether. So please have your parents or guardians get you to the doctor first thing in the morning. You stand a very good chance of getting dehydrated. You may want to sip on some Gatorade or a similar sports drink ( NOT an energy drink or anything with caffeine. Caffeine will make it worse). If you can't keep Gatorade down, suck on some ice chips.
409410 tn?1251072712 I am an IBS sufferer for many years. It seems like yours is IBS-D and not C-constipation. Doctors didn't try any medications? IBS is a tough one to treat but there are ways to address them. I tried the medicine DICETEL when I was in Canada and still take it when I need. It is not available in U.S and a prescription medicine. You can get the prescription from any doctor and get it from an online store in Canada.
Avatar n tn I have just been diagnosed with IBS. I don't think I have it reading other postings. I have had abdominal distention for 5 months, it has never subsided in the 5 months, gained 45 lbs.
Avatar n tn can IBS be controlled and if so how. Does vicodin, lortab etc. contribute to it's systoms. I have been taking these pain meds for some time now and either or when I choose to not use them between time and appts. I always develope diarrhea very bad. As soon as I take meds my bouts stop. I am aware that it can cause constipation while taking meds, but why the bouts in between.
Avatar n tn I have a life long condition known as IBS. Had tests done as a child all came back fine. Now 45, I still have this condition. Recently, I have been under a lot of stress and this condition has flared up a little more than normal. Visited the hospital Emergency, they confirmed that I had IBS. Visited my doctor and they prescribed Buscopan. Worked wonders. First time in my life I felt great in the belly. Till today.
Avatar f tn There is also a forum on MedHelp for IBS to find out furthur information. Main symtoms are bloating, stomac pain, diahrea, constipation.
Avatar f tn I may not have been officially tested for IBS until I was an adult, but I know very well that I was suffering in silence with IBS for years before this! It wasn't as severe for me as for your daughter at her age, but I remember how I felt. The trouble was, I was never taken seriosly that I had belly pain. I was just labeled by my mother, who wasn't paying attention. I learned to shut up and just suffer with whatever this was until I saw a GI when I was a young adult.
645800 tn?1466860955 As i stated in my post "Not Sure", my IBS seems to be getting better. As I have been thinking about this I am wonder if there is a clue in this as to what is going on inside my body. I am hoping the Quix will have some thoughts on this. Prior to going on Prednisone and Azathioprine my IBS flared up after almost every meal (no correlation to what I had eaten), Plus at other times for no appearent reason.
Avatar m tn oh ya a year ago my gallbladder was taken out, not the problem. my doc labled me as having ibs. not buying it. could this still b something worse? second opion? or do i just have to live with the intense pain?
