7510956 tn?1411671417 Last night I injured my knee and today it looks like I have a ballon in front of my knee cap. I have Dr. appt for tomm and hope they can take the fluid out since its very painful. I wanted to take two advils but I know they are very bad for our liver, any suggestions as to what I can take for the inflamation and pain?
Avatar f tn t have bag of ice use a frozen bag of peas or corn and ice for 15 mins and off 15 mins. Wrap the knee with ace bandage or black knee support until u can get to the doc. does your knee crack? Take ibuprofen as directed for swelling. Hope you can get to the ER or doc soon.
Avatar n tn Also, ice for 10-15 minutes two to three times per day, with at least 1 1/2 hours in between icing. Fill Ziploc with ice and wrap with ace bandage. This will help bring swelling down. If it is severe, icing may not help. Icing always helps me. Usually I have knee, foot, or anke pain. However, when I feel slight twing in hamstring (definetly not as severe as your injury), if I ice for 15 minutes, I am usually fine in a day or two. Only my opinion. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Sorry about the accident. That's a bummer. So, your main question is about the cartilage thinning in your knee? I found this which might help. https://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/sport-injuries/knee-pain/acute-knee-injuries/knee-articular-cartilage-injury Your accident could have caused this or it could have been happening over time. But either way, that is now seen, it's now a fact of your knee. Sorry about that! RICE is often applied to help with it.
Avatar f tn Aspercreme or icy hot cream and massage it into/around your whole knee.
Avatar f tn What can I do to help arm get through next month of being non weight baring have knee scooter, and crutches, but after 3 weeks, have muscle spasms continually. .
Avatar f tn Apply an ice-pack to the knee. Another good alternative is to apply a lot of set yogurt and wrap it with a cloth. Do this when you are resting and before bedtime. The yogurt cools the area and draws out the inflammation. I did this to my sprained ankle when I couldn't walk on it and by the next day it was fine. I couldn't believe how quickly it recovered and but it down to having it strapped with lots of yogurt.
Avatar m tn An opposing soccer team player clashed their knee into the bottom inner thigh part on my right leg(above the knee, closer to the left). This left swelling and pain. The swelling's gone now, the pain decreased, I've been doing R.I.C.E (although I should elevate more - I did a lot in the beginning), I got a compression wrap four days ago, I've been altering ice-and-moist heat after 72 hours passed since my injury. I hope I get better soon.
5154541 tn?1366808691 I sprained my knee a few weeks back. I went to the emergency room and they told me it can take up to 6 weeks to heal completely. I'm on week 3 and I see so much of a difference (very good!). But, occasionally when I 'think' about my knee sprain, the pain kinda comes back but not very bad. The doctor told me to lay off it a few times and to wrap and put ice, which I have done…but I'm SO scared this will never heal and that I will be in pain forever.
Avatar m tn that is not old...LOL...guess it all depends on how old we are on what we consider old...ice ur knee 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off..wrap it with an ace wrap to get some compression to get the swelling out...elevate it tonight on a pillow while u sleep...the naproxen will help...if it doesnt get better...get it checked...do u have a history of knee problems?
Avatar n tn Thanks so much!!.. i was just hoping it wasnt a stress fracture but since i can still walk and the pain is not that severe i was pretty confident it wasnt. Thanks for the advice i will try that.
Avatar f tn i just checked my tracker..and i am right. today is 90 days of no oxy. i did have some baby relapses along the way. one just to fark up. and two was due to this new surgery. too much pain. but i am going to beat the odds. start thinking like that. instead of being a statistic be a new on. you get the idea. and im not myself right now. i feel like a dog going to the vet. i wonder if i go to where my dog hides will my family look for me. lol. oh i need prayer...and lots of it.
Avatar f tn I, then placed the (105°?) warm pad on my knee; wrapped my kneepad with plastic wrap (to keep the CO from staining the heating pad) and then wrapped a heating pad around the knee and set the temperature to Med. heat. I left it on for about 1 hour and when I removed everything, I did a ‘test walk’…not only was my knee not stiff, and the swelling was 95% GONE…all within the 1 hour treatment!!!!!
Avatar m tn Recently, 5 days ago I think, I fell on this knee pretty badly and as you can imagine this brought a world of pain. When I got home, I rubbed some Hotemin cream on the knee, I put a wrap on it and I took an Acteric tablet to help with the pain of walking (or limping, in my case). The wrap was one of those you just pull over the knee, not an actual length of cloth wrapped around the knee and at first I thought it was just the right fit, being a little tight.
1187071 tn?1279369698 t feel anything like this but then again I tried not to move them but with my knee I have to. I had to go out and buy a wrap to put on it and I am going to see if that helps with the pain. Maybe if I keep it straight the severe pain won't happen when I get up from sitting down. I'm going to wait the 2 weeks which will be friday and call the dr and ask her to order the tests. Not sure when I can get them since my son is having surgery monday.
Avatar m tn t hurt to run, but when I do any leg lift movements especially bringing my knee towards my chest, it starts hurting, but when I stretch it by bringing my knee to my chest and holding it, it immediately goes away. Also, when I wrap my hip flexor with ace wrap, I can play soccer with absolutely no pain while slide tackling and lifting my leg--it is only tight sometimes but no pain.
1692231 tn?1325130959 Compression gloves such as IMAKs worn during the day will keep your hands warm and hopefully ease some of the pain. At night especially, wrap your knees and feet/ankles in Ace bandages (wide ones for your knees). This will keep the joints warm and the compression will ease out some of the swelling. If you can elevate your legs and feet on pillows or foam wedges at night, it might help, too.
Avatar n tn R= rest, I = ice, C =compression (wrap with ace bandage), and E =elevation (when sitting, put legs up). I'm a big fan of Icy Hot rub, Salon Pass menthol sheets that you stick on (pick one of those two) and Arnica that you rub on. Ibuprofen helps me too if you are able to take that. Gentle stretching. I also ran into it getting painful again while it was healing from the least movement after. I'd be back to square one. But eventually it DID get better. https://www.webmd.
Avatar f tn It is very slight in my right knee but worse in my left knee which is probably why I have been having pain problems in the left. I am not sure what aggravated it because up until 2 and a half months ago, I never had any issues with my knee at all. It must have been the heavy sqautting that I was doing in my workouts. I have been active my whole life and never had any previous knee issues.
Avatar n tn I don't think you need to wrap it, just ice. But are you sure it's a tendon? I mean it could be, but what makes you think it is?
Avatar f tn Sherry, Speaking as someone with two arthritic knees, anything that affects your gait can add to the wear and tear on your knees. When I hurt my first knee, that made me walk funny, which probably didn't do the other knee any good, then I hurt the good knee. OK, maybe I just have bad genes, but I do know when I limp, my knees hurt worse. I think that thigh atrophy and tight calf muscle would definitely pull things out of their normal position, causing extra wear and tear.
Avatar f tn All thy could do was put a wrap around my knee antell me to take tylenol. This bites I work 14 hr days and need to walk around. I see from.researching online tht its common to develop this in the hips during pregnancy...but of course I have to be different. Anyone.experience this??
Avatar n tn My right fibula head has partially dislocated twice and the pain is excruciating. All I know to do is wrap it and keep pulling and adjusting the wrap until the bone goes back into place. I am afraid it will continue to do this and will have to have something done. That knee has been operated on twice and that may be part of the problem too. I just know that I never want to go through that pain again.
Avatar m tn Hello you can use ice 10 mins on and 10 mins off until swelling subsides and wrap in an ACE wrap to help stabilize the area. Ensure the ACE wrap isn't too tight because it can cut off the circulation to your foot and leg, if your toes or leg turns blue or feels cold to the touch you need to loosen the wrap because it IS too tight.
Avatar f tn Thanks for using the forum. I would recommend having your ankle checked by a doctor to make sure that you have sprained it and have not damaged any ligaments or tendons. You are on the right track for treating a sprain. The mnemonic RICE is used for treatment of injuries Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. Ice is used to decrease swelling of the inure. Be careful with the ace bandage, you don't want to wrap too tight and cut off circulation. Hope this helps.
