He also asserts that policymakers in particular, and the American people in general, overestimate the usefulness of military force in foreign affairs.

148588 tn?1465778809 was uniquely positioned to remake the global order in the wake of the Cold War. The only debate at the end of the first Iraq war was whether the U.S. squandered an opportunity by not advancing all the way to Baghdad, ousting Saddam and occupying Iraq. ut President George H.W. Bush cautioned against the risks of taking over Iraq. His top military adviser, Gen. Colin Powell, summed it up with the "Pottery Barn rule" – if you break it, you own it.
148588 tn?1465778809 Does it seem to anyone else, with all the destablization over that entire region, add into that our squabbles with putin, and all the cries for war war war, that this is all building up to another world war? That or they have managed to scare the bejeebies out of me.

Avatar m tn So me and a buddy of mine went to iHop, and he thought it would be funny to start a spitball war. He got me in the eye, like I'm pretty sure directly in the eye. I went to the bathroom rinsed it off with water, hopefully got his saliva out. He claims to not have cold sores or herpes (which I don't believe but it could be true). Is it possible for me to get an infection or even herpes in the eye from that?
Avatar m tn My father had done the same when he was in war war 2. I know that as I grow up he still struggled with the urges to do them. We did not light incense because of the sweet smell made him want it. when you start craving it take a cold bath not to cold it will help with the sweating & the fears. It you get the shakes cover in a very thick blanket with some hot tea. The tea can be flavored but make sure it's not sweet or strong. Jazmin works great.

1301089 tn?1290666571 Much of what is occurring now is an extension of the cold war where the United States and the then Soviet Union used third world countries as political pawns. Before the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan (which we fought by supporting the Mujahadeen, who were not really our allies but fanatics) Afghanistan was a democracy and women had full civil rights and those were just opposition groups that did not have power.

1208262 tn?1265885643 But the weird thing is, when i developed these problems i also developed; dizziness, near fainting, frantic heart beat, weak heart beat, cold hands/feet/arms/legs, tingling in my limbs, confussion, disorientation, and trouble catching my breath i've been telling my doctors about it, but none of them agree on what they think might be causing this? my opthamologist says i have drusen, and my other doctor just keeps telling me i have anxiety attacks.
Avatar n tn Is there a syndrome/symptom of depression showing up in Vietnam War era military personnel who did not participate in the War directly? I served in the Air Force from 1964-1985 and had strong feelings about the war while it was happening and some of them continue to this day. I cannot seem to hear, see, or read anything about the war-time experiences of my fellow vetereans without having tears well up.
