About 12 a day and he stopped cold turkey on Sunday afternoon. What side effects can I expect? Any suggestions on how to help him get through this would be very helpful. Foods to eat or avoid? Tea or herbs? Anything to help him get off naturally. He is also a sugar and caffiene addict. Lots of candy, rockstar and coffee. I did give him a zanax to take with him to work yesterday but he didn't take it until he got home and fell asleep at 7:00 and slept 12 hours.

We just found out i was pregnant, i quite smoking cold turkey, and im only 5weeks acording to the chart my baby doeant even have a heart beat. I was told with my first pregnancy that it was safe, and good for the babies heart beat to have 1 glass of red wine only a day.

I think you should be fine, if you are feeling OK and not having seizures by now you should be OK. Your sleep will improve with time, because the kind if sleep you very getting after a bottle and a half of wine was not healthy. In general unless you are an alcoholic, a woman should not drink more than a half a glass of wine a day for her heart health. The rest is not beneficial for a woman's body. I'm 40, fairly thin, and drink 5 or 6(or more) drinks a night, usually wine but there have been many nights where wine has turned to whiskey, etc. I have taken days off of drinking, but not more than 1 or 2 in a row. I'm quitting cold turkey, but I haven't slept more than 3 hours a night and when I wake up I am drenched with sweat, and I have terrific anxiety. I can barely function!

But can stop drinking cold turkey. Made me wonder how many of u still r drinking wine beer or anything else? I don't smoke so I dont have that issue however I'd lie if I didn't say I miss my wine. But stop cold turkey. It amazed me how many were still smoking. How r u doing?

I have been on 225 mg of Effexor for a few years now, varying my dose now and then. I quit Effexor cold turkey on Sunday, it's day 6 and I am experiencing diarrhea after every meal and I am having vision problems. Is it safe for me to have a glass of wine? Is there a risk of death or any major risk from going cold turkey. I am having trouble focussing and am so tired, sleeping more than average. Where do I go from here?

Many of my guests have just come out of the woods from deer hunting and are chilled to the bone. With dinner we have good dry white wine.....and a red robust sweet wine for a few that are wussies and can't take the "dry white.

Why take the risk! I wouldn't compromise the health if my baby. I'm a big wine drinker myself but went cold turkey as soon as I found out I am preggo. Find other fruity drinks to compromise like non alchoholic drinks, flavored lemonades. I like to order a shirley temple drink whenever I'm hangin out socially ..gives u the look and sweetness of a drink w/o the alcohol...

Oh sushi.....i love sushi. But a deep red wine and cheese...or a cold beer on the porch watchibg the sun set, or a shot of tequila and getting frisky with the hubby...

My mother-in-law, who is 86, has some dementia and is addicted to wine. I mean really addicted. She was drinking 3 bottles an day starting at 10:00 in the morning. If she doesn't have it, she goes nuts. The doctor wants us to wean her off and we've gotten her down to 2, but we are going nuts. Does any one know how it feels when you crave alcohol and can't have. We feel terrible, but she gets really drunk and drinks all night. We don't know how to handle it.

She has been taking Xanax for years. Her neurologist has told us to stop all narcotics-cold turkey. Is this right? She is going through hell right now. It's been 2 weeks. How long do the withdrawls last?

Things come to a head a few weeks ago when he started coughing up blood an our little boy asked why he was so sick in the morning when he got up an why he had to go out all the time. I am on day 11, of a 35ml a day cold turkey withdrawl from methadone , and speeking from firsthand understanding of opiate detox, i have quit a 1 to 2.5gram aday herion habit and a 80 to 120mg a day dilaudid habit. and methadone is by far the hardest thing i have ever atempted to quit. now to the point, iwas hoping someone could give me a rough idea or timeline as to when ican exspect to start feeling better. i know thats a very openended question but this draging on much longer then exspected.

I'm on 1500mg Depakote, 160mg Geodon & 4mg Lorazapam a day! I've been on dozens of medications over the years for my Bi-Polar Disorder & nothing seems to help! What if I stopped, cold turkey, taking any medication for my illness? Would I feel better after going through withdrawals? Has anyone else gotten off their medication cold turkey?

thats me on day 4 of cold turkey from otc codeine shaky legs, no sleep, feeling sorry for myself. I am eating some which is good but the runs are doing my head in. just wish it was over.
