Avatar f tn A little trick my BF did while tapering was cut them in half and consider that to be a whole one instead. Whatever you gotta do. I know it's hard giving up those last one or two. The morning one was the hardest one for me. Sometimes still is. I want something to get me going and excited about my day. But, I know where that goes and I dismiss it quickly. One is never enough and then neither is a thousand. Alcohol made me tired. I'd get a little buzz and then crash.

Avatar m tn Bipolar medications are strong and their consumption and changes need to be closely monitored by a psychiatrist. You dont want to end up in the middle of a manic episode which is a huge risk if you stop taking your meds at all, whether cold turkey or otherwise. It sounds like you need to have some dialogue with your doctor about how well the medication is working adn whether or not some adjustments need to be made.
Avatar f tn Hi I understand very well what you have gone through, as I tried myself a week ago to stop everything cold turkey, but i failed. The reason why i failed is that I usually have depression and have to take regularly an AD otherwise i drop dead not able to move an arm. So i had to go back to my meds the AD of course but along with my AP's otherwise i can become manic.
Avatar f tn Just stopped me cold turkey from fiorinal3 that he knows I have taken for over 15 years or more. I go to a pain management dr. Who told me in the beginning that he want family dr. To handle my migraine and tension headache medicine. But noe he told me to get it plain without codeine. Well the family dr. Refuses to fill it PERIOD. THE Pain management dr. Won't fill it until next apt. A month from now. So were im at now is the f.dr.
Avatar n tn I am so sory for your situation..I am glad that your husband did get off the pills but essentially all he has been doing is trading one for another..Since he can't get suboxone where you are..Then his only choice seems to be cold turkey unless he can wean with another narcotic that is available..I wish i had better advice,..I haven't used heroin but I did go cold turkey off methadone and that is a nightmare..If he could have someone taking care I am sure he can do this..
Avatar m tn also, it took about 3 days for the WD to even kick in! i used to think that i was not that addicted because i could go a day or two without getting sick, but what i later realized was that i had just not given it enough time. it moves very slowly. i have heard also that the dose your are jumping from doesn't matter. i cannot say from experience if this is true or not. good luck to you.
Avatar n tn You are so right! I find that going to the drug store for shampoo and toothpaste don't have to worry about going to the pharmacy and ask/beg for T1's so very powerful for me. I used to take a lot of laxatives as well and that ended too! I feel so great these days, I have so much energy! Plus I lost 10lbs (don't know if that is common or not) and my running times have increased! I sleep so much better and my skin has become better! I could go on and on.
Avatar f tn but My husband smokes 20 a day and he used to drink too much 10 years before. does his activities effect my baby. He couldn't quite smoking. what should I do?
1569133 tn?1310464416 Hang in there. Going to a meeting is a big step. I wish i could. I live in a small town and if I went I feel everyone would know. Cant go that route, so I am hoping for some support on this board. Let me know how it goes.
Avatar m tn Thanks, Hllaatme, Cold Turkey has been pretty easy thanks to an Rx for hydrOXYzine, about 6 to 8 25 mg. tablets a day. My ? now, is there a med, stronger than codeine,vs. neuropathy pain, that will allow my renewed orgasmic joy to continue, after all these years? I use 100 mg. Viagra for each lovemaking, $1.25 a pill from India Generics.
Avatar m tn Around the age of 14 or 15 (8 years ago), don't remember, I was diagnosed with Schizoaffective Bipolar and ODD. I don't remember the medications they started me off with, but I know I quit when I began to severely lose motor function throughout my body, especially my face, and I wouldn't be able to tell you were I was or how I got to school. At that point, I was on the most medication throughout the entire treatment: effexor, geodon, respiradol, paxil, depakote, trazedone, seraquil.
1296339 tn?1272597851 Hey! This is my 3rd time reading your post & I literally HAD to write back!...simply because I'm SOOO tired & SOOO nervous about ALSO stopping pain meds...it's going on 1a.m. Where I live & my husband & I are quitting pain meds in the morning. We've "semi-tried" in the past but we've also never been so deep into them like we are now. We both take over 250mg/day of oxys (which is more than I could ever fathom taking).
4075126 tn?1349774363 Failed every time. Now I am clear for a little over a year. I used a method - not a product. It worked for me very, very well. All my smoking symptoms have disappeared. I feel 20 years younger and I would like to share my experience. If it is so effective and easy to quit smoking - what is needed here? Communication? Of course. Let's go for it! I like to hear from you.
Avatar f tn I am totally available to talk with you if your wanting to get off of the subs. I cold turkey quit Jan 1st 2014 off of a 24mg a day suboxone habit. I was taking them for 7 years. Please let us know your still with us and we can tell you anything you may want to know.
1202033 tn?1273771354 Sometimes it is easier to stop everything cold turkey. At least it was from me. The w/d will suck but know that it won't last too long...hang in there.
Avatar m tn I'm going to spare you the long boring story of my addiction, seeing how it's been told before. I guess the bottom line is I'm tired of letting a little pill control and utterly destroy my life. I've been taking about 10-15 10 mg norcos a day, which is actually a lot less than I used to take. This isn't my first rodeo, but hopefully my last. I've got my daily vitamins, cal/mag/zinc, immodium and plenty of tv shows on DVD for the sleepless nights to follow.
Avatar n tn I know alot of people that go cold turkey and the pain is so bad they go back to usin, and they start a taper and do good. Stayin clean does not have much to do with route you used to get clean but more so about what you do after you w/ds..AFTERCARE...Hey man CONGRATS on your 10 days, I see cold turkey was the right thing for you, thats all that counts and that awsome!!!! KEEP UP WHAT YOU ARE DOING.
Avatar f tn I want to go cold turkey from klonopin 3mg/day, 4 months. I tried tapering and was in withdrawal the whole time. Has anyone gone cold turkey and have advice to get through. I feel like I would rather bite the bullet than spread it out over time.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking 60-65mg Norco and want to go off, maybe cold turkey. Considering my options. I am wanting to hear about experience going cold turkey using these meds and any advice you may have.
Avatar n tn nutrition is very important..as far as feeling normal?? well, I have no idea what the definition of normal is..as an addict normal to me would be how I feel when I take drugs...I still don't feel "normal" since I quit march 7..it is a whole new way of being..there is no easy answers....remember that it took time to get into this position and it will take time to get out of it..usually more time to get out of it than into it..try to keep exercising a bit..walking etc..
1434731 tn?1382722384 Watch out for the anxiety tho and if that increases you may need to see a doc for a little something to get you thru for a few months. The anxiety bout done me in. It actually did the last time I quit as I was not prepared for it. This time I was and got some paxil for a few months to help me. Best thing I ever did too! You might also not want to exercise past 2 or three in the afternoon if yur having problems sleeping.
Avatar n tn This can be done with Effexor XR by opening the capsules and dumping the white beads in a shallow small cup. Then you can devive the beads in half and put them back in the capsule. Wala! You have 37.5Mg capsules. make a good 16 of the 37.5 capsules. Take the 37.5 dosage for 16 days, then after that you will keep taking only 37.5, except at that point you only take them every other day. You stay 37.5 every other day for 14 days. Then you discontine completly. That is how it's done.
628981 tn?1260555203 I'm a veteran with a severly broken back who has been on Hydo and morphine for over 6 years. I told the VA Doc that I was tired of taking all these meds..instead of slowly getting me off these he stopped my precrip.
