Common Questions and Answers about Cold sore lips swelling

lip

For the past month I have had extremely dry lips and sore. I thought I had a cold sore (never had one before) because I felt itching and tingling but only symptoms is red, dry lips and sore. I have tried all kinds of vaseline, carmax, abreva and other lip creams. Not sure if related but having left abdominal pain too.
Today I seem to be fine (The picture was taken earlier today). My lips still feel chapped, again not bad. Does this sound like a cold sore to you? If not, what else could have cause this? I have been pretty stressed out for the last couple of weeks which I thought might be why my lips are chapped. Plus, I am worried it might be a cold sore because I had a high risk exposure to a stripper (protected sex) about 15 weeks ago and she kissed me on the lips several times.
normally I get an OB once or twice a year depending on my stress level, which is what seems to trigger my ob's. I've been cold sore free for over a year until saturday nov 18th. This one was pretty severe for me. The swelling was so bad on sunday i tried ice to ease it, but i dont think it worked. by day 5 wednesday i was still getting new blisters so i decided to go see my dermo. She put me on valtrex 2 pills a day twice a day, morn/night.
I can feel a small bump on the inside of my lip but on the outside of my lip(exactly where I can feel the bump on the inside) there seems to be a cold sore. My lips had been dry and chapped for a few days and then a small bump appeared. It does not burn or itch and I've just been applying medicated blistex to the area. The small bump has now turned to a blister. Is this a cold sore?? Please help! I've never had one.
I found a circle like dot on my top lip. I have had something like this before, but it wasn't a cold sore. So immediately I put some abreva on it. It never hurt to touch it, and it didn't look like a blister at all because It didn't look fluid filled. At one point this piece of skin came off and nothing came out. It was small and it didn't develop into anything clustered. Is this a cold sore? Please help!
During that week, I began having cold symptoms (simple coughing, on/off sore throat, sneezing, mucus build-up). On the 25th of September, I began to notice that a lymph node located on my inner thigh, and one located on the back of my neck started swelling. On the night of the 27th of September, I met up with the same female. I noticed that she had grown a slight cold sore above the top lip (small enough to cover with a layer of makeup), however I didn't think too much into it.
The bumps are tiny, like pinhead sized. Could these be a cold sore outbreak? I have never had one before, and I am sure I would remember it if I had. I am a bit of a hypochondriac and am very, very careful to never drink after people or kiss someone with sores. I did kiss someone about a month ago (27 days), but wouldn't that be outside the normal incubation period for cold sores? Also, I did have a blood test done about 1 1/2 years ago for HSV1 and 2, both were negative at that time.
With adding bilberry, CoQ10, and probiotic 11 to my list of herbal vitamins recommended by a specialist, things have somewhat calmed down and the peeling is slowing, but after immune tests came back perfect (only revealing a high herpes count possibly due to the recent cold sore outbreak), I have yet to find any definite answer to my problem. Now to my actual question...
Although they have the apperance of being very sore. When I had eczema of the lips before, it effected the whole layer of both lips and was incredibly itchy. So does anyone have any ideas as to what this condition could be? Has anyone had patch testing for their condition and did it give any helpful results? Any help is much appreciated as you can probably imagine. Robhh - As for the stess part, I am convinced that it plays a key role in triggering the condition.
I'm 15 and I have full lips and I thought that there was something wrong and went on google and Bing and it said that I have a cold sore I was so scared and I know cold sore are simplex 1 herpes that scared me because I'm not sexualy active in any type thank you so much because now I know its not that
A small swelling is appear inside the lips. it is break after some days and it will again and again form in my lips.
If you experience very frequent bouts, your doctor may prescribe an antiviral medication as a cold sore treatment or to prevent cold sores. It may help if you avoid conditions that stress your body, such as getting a cold or not getting enough sleep or staying in the sun for long periods of time without applying sunblock. It is important to apply sunblock to your lips and face before prolonged exposure to the sun to help prevent cold sores. Take care and regards.
This happened to me. My boyfriend & I haven't had sex in a couple of weeks & our friend kept walking in, so it was pretty dry due to constant interruption. Like I said, we hadn't done it in a while, so we went at it like jack rabbits. Plus, we didn't use a rubber. When we finished my vagina was really sore; when i touched it, it stung a little & the lips were swollen. The swelling has gone down a little, but not much & it only hurts when I have my legs together.
A few differentials of your condition are eczema, perioral dermatitis, cold sore and impetigo. Drying, blisters with oozing, raw areas from scratching are few common symptoms. You may relieve the itch by using a moisturizer, topical steroid cream, or taking antihistamines to reduce severe itching and swelling. Diagnosis is based mainly on the appearance of the skin lesion. Get the diagnosis confirmed. I sincerely hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!
it started a couple of weeks ago when she awoke in the morning with a swollen bottom lip. We thought cold sore but the swelling went down a few hours later. then on saturday, she woke up with a very swollen upper lip. Again, we thought cold sore. Unlike last time, the lip never went down, it got bigger and bigger, along with her face. the swelling eventually went down but she's still feeling pretty miserable. before both episodes, she did complain of achiness and soreness.
For about a month now, what started as what seemed as a cold sore has turned into persistent little bumps on my lips that dry them out, itch like crazy and drain if I scratch them. I have tried Abreva and atheletes foot cremes, but nothing works. Any suggestions on what it is and how to treat it?
It's been about a month now, and though it's not swollen, my lips get enflamed ever so often, and pink, then when the swelling recedes, it seems as though the skin on the lip is peeling off. And the chapped lips (I don't know how else to describe it) caused my lips to bleed a bit. We have a suspicion that the allergy is something to pack-cake... Like Betty Crocker... I went to a doctor, and he prescribed an antihistamine and a steroid.
My 1 year old cat develops canker sore like lesion at the lips. I have taken him to the vet 3 times. The vet said he has allergy. He had received 3 cortisone shots with no improvement. Has anybody had similar problem with his/her cat? Any suggestions how should I treat this condition. By the way, my cat has no symptoms. He seems to be playful and has good appetite. Any help would be appreciated.
I haven't had an episode in approx 4 months and then this last week it was my right hand one day, a section on my lower bicep the next, my inner right thigh (that moved to my butt) the next two days, my left eye the next day, I got a cold the next day (but no swelling) and today half of my upper right lip. My doctor put me on one zyrtec a day. And I've had many fewer cases over the last two years.
I have some 5% hydrocortisone cream which I can put on now, but would that hurt the condition if it does turn out to be the cold sore virus? Also, can it be the cold sore virus if the sore is entirely over the whole lip area as opposed to circumscribed sore(s). I am a nursing mother so I am reluctant to take the anti-viral if I don't have to. I do have eczema (on my ears exclusive to date) and wonder if you can tell me more about li eczema (no listings when I googled that condition).
For TEN years, I was subjected to numerous incidents of severe swelling of my lips, tongue, hands and fingers, feet, testicles, etc... The swelling frequently started in the early morning, and was severe by the time I awakened. I would experience the symptoms at least once per week, if not more frequently. The only treatment that worked was to take 3 benadryl -- which of course knocked me out for hours.
no itching and no pain. And 2-3 cold sore look likes with very little puss on thighs once in a while. They don't last for more than a week whenever the come. Does this indicate I could have exposed to herpes. Please let me know your opinion? As I said earlier , I have been doing small donation of $50 and $100 to HIV organizations whenever I can. I hope this amount is useful for someone somewhere. Please let me know.
to all the ladies out there... the vagina lips s swelling is basically known as bartholin's cyst!!!!!!!! Most women don't even know they have a bartholin's gland, (I don't know why that is, we learned about them in school). It is a tiny gland inside each of the labia near the opening of the vagina, one gland on each side. They produce fluid that lubricates the vagina.
Then u scratched it which caused vaginal swelling later and that is why it burns when u urinate. Use a cold rag to help relieve the swelling and the burning, do not use soap, pat instead of rubbing, all of these things cn make it better. 1 in 5 woman have bv. (including me) but i do not get problems alot, i used shower gel from the dollar store when we ran out of soap, when i got in from work in the morning my husband and i had sex which irritated me.
so i'm thinking it is bacterial infection rather than a cold sore. so anybody please help me and tell me if it is a bacterial infection and what i can do to make my lips back to normal. i highly appreciate it. thanks.
The doctors did some bloodwork to check my vitamin levels which all came back fine and instructed me to try an OTC cream like Abreva, as they thought it might be a cold sore (which I never had in the past either). Two weeks later, I scheduled a follow up appointment, as the redness and severe chapping was still there. The second time, they prescribed an Acylovir tablet and Zovirax cream for oral herpes. All this seemed to do was irritate my entire mouth.
im having the same problems with my lips for 2 months now,it has happen 4 times within this 2 month period,i do get cold sores but this is no cold sore, this usually happens when i tend to stay out in the sun too long,im jus thinking bout going to see a doc about this,do anybody know wat this condition is called?this stuff is making me really depress and its embarrising!!!!
I recently came up with a cold sore inside my mouth. I hadn't kissed anyone in a while. I think it was from biting my lip. Today I made out with a girl and am now worried that she may catch it. What is the likeliness being from 1 - 10 of her having a cold sore?
I know every doesn't experience the same symptoms and this may be a stupid question, but what does a cold sore look like? When I think of cold sore, I think of a blister/bump that pops and then crust up. In the past my lips were really chapped, cracked corners, and then blisters formed below both corners of my mouth. I popped it, went away, but during that process it never appeared liked any of the pictures of a cold sore that I see online that's related to herpes.
