I've never ever in my life had a cold sore, i've been kissed (on the cheek) by family who's had cold sores and i still never get them.
I get a bump on my lip every week...every time one goes away another is there...idk if it's a cold sore due to stress or just pimples...
But does that mean that I will end up spreading it to my partner? I haven't had a cold sore since. And I've never seen that he had a cold sore before... So should I really stress spreading it to him; I rarely ever get cold sores.... He's never gotten one, even though we've been together for a long time. In the future will this affect my sex life in any way?

Unfortunately a cold sore is a manifestation of the herpes virus. It is herpes simplex 2. You will never cure it, but you can get rid of it for a while. You can buy over the counter meds, or go see your Dr.
It is very important to never kiss your baby while you have a cold sore or a month after it has gone. Baby's immune system is nowhere near mature enough to fight the virus and they can end up seriously ill in the hospital.
I have read on the previous posts on this forum that cold sores are very much a way to get HIV. I trust you and I don't mean to sound disrespectful or like I don't believe you, but can you tell me why it's not a concern? I got a cold sore on July 23rd and it's now September 8th it does not hurt its slightly pink and it looks like scar the scab got ripped off twice and I tried different things on it so I am wondering if I am still contagious?
Hi guys. I performed oral sex on my girl friend two days ago without any sign of a cold sore as if I had known of any I wouldn't have done it atall. So the day after everything is fine until last night and this morning I felt a slight tingle on my lip as I always do when I feel a cold sore coming and now this morning I know there is one there and it is coming. I want to know the risk of passing them to my girlfriends vagina.
So, I haven't had a cold sore in a few years, and I'm very aware of the symptoms just prior to getting one. Is it possible I could have passed it to someone I've kissed? Or, does it usually only happen during viral shedding which happens just prior to an outbreak?
hello doctor. i kissed my girlfriend last week multiple times when she had a cold sore. now i have felt bad for 3 days, lots of sweating, raw throat, one canker sore, swollen lymph glands.
so i am assuming i have contracted the HSV-1 virus. do i need to do anything, such as see a doctor? will i definitely have an outbreak on my lip? when? is there a chance this is just the flu even though i kissed her when she had one?
my stomach has bothered me too, just knotted up.
I have a red “blotch” on my upper right lip and am concerned that this is a cold sore (photograph attached). I did not feel any itching or irritation at the site of the blotch before it first appeared as a tiny red spot but it is now red, slightly raised and occasionally feels hot. This is the fifth “blotch” on my upper lip in roughly the same area in the past 6 months or so and I had 2 last year. They healed sometimes leaving small marks or scars, but I also get scarring from general spots.
I think it could have been a cold sore. I have not had any symptoms, neither have a had a cold sore. Is it possible that you could kiss someone with a cold sore and not get the herpes virus. I know its contagious at all times... but isn't it most contagious during the weezing stage when it explodes and crusts over. What are my chances of getting it ??
It first appeared 6 days ago when all of a sudden I felt like a burning sensation and my lip felt swollen. Since then I have been putting cold sore medicine, thinking it could possibly be one starting out. I have never had one before, but my sister-in law and friend said they start out in a tingling or burning or itching sensation. So, upset, but worried, I continued the ointment. Six days later, it looks exactly the same maybe a little dry but the same.
t know what to think of it since my igm test came back positive. Is this what a cold sore is or is it just a pimple/zit? I also noticed a very very very small bump on the inside of my lip. Does it have any relation to the small red bump? Is it a cold sore? I don't have a doctor so I wouldn't be able to get it looked at.
