Cold hands fingers

Common Questions and Answers about Cold hands fingers

cold

Dear doctor, I recently feel very cold (especially in my fingers and toes) when I sit behind my computer for 2+ hours, which makes my nails' colours become purple (much like when there is not much blood in some part of a body). Other than that, a few horizontal lines appeared on 4 of my nails. What is wrong? What should I do? I'm a bit scared.
Usually the peeling palms last a week to 10 days. This time my hands and fingers and now my feet are peeling. This would suggest it is internal. It has lasted this time for about 20 days. I live in a smaller place now and to see a qualified dermatologist could take months. Also I have been hydrating my hand with what the pharmicist reccomended, it didn't contain a steroid. I could use any help. Thany so much.
Raunaud's usually presents as a progression of symptoms. The symptoms you describe sound like they could be Raunaud's. Here is what you typically see 1) Fingers get cold, the arteries constrict (vasospasm) and this significantly cuts of flow the digits. The digits (fingers/toes) will turn pale or white. 2) Because of the diminished blood flow the fingers do not get enough oxygen and you develop a state called cyanosis, which will be a blue or purplish color.

Thank you so much for your help :) I will definatley take this issue up. I guess I never really mentioned to the Doctor because I assumed it was kinda normal. It wasn't till I shook hands with someone ("Woah! Your hands are like ice!") and asked a few questions ("Are your hands always cold?" "No") that I thought something was off. Thank you again.
While longer baths or showers, especially in hot water, can be quite relaxing, they will also increase the loss of natural oils from the skin and worsen skin dryness. Always wear gloves for washing and while going outside, as cold increases drying. Don't wash your hands any more than necessary and use very mild soaps. Apply constantly plenty of good moisturizing creams and alternate with steroid creams. Use a humidifier in the rooms to avoid dryness.
My seven year old has been licking his hands/ fingers for several weeks. It appears to be very compulsive with a lack of awareness on his part. He has had several bouts of compulsive behavior in the past (frequent urinating, washing hands, smelling hands) that have all been directly related to a change in his life and eventually subsided when life settled down. This one (licking) seems to be lasting longer and becoming more frequent.
Seeing a neurologist in early May as now also pins/needles 2 smaller fingers both hands and total numbess at night time of entire hands. Upper back pain tenderness and pain if sat for too long. Use of fingers lessened and hands weakened. Any input valued please. Many thanks.
Hi,I'm 28yrs old and for the past couple of years in the winter when it's very cold,my middle fingers on both hands at the joint go very purple/blue or red when warmed up,and tend to hurt when I bend them. I also get chill blaines too! I try to keep them warm by wearing gloves outside, but doesn't seem to help. Could it be arthritis?
anyhow, my hands and feet are ALWAYS VERY cold. i was watching t.v with my hubby and he noticed that my left hand was turning bluish (my fingers). i rubbed them against eachother and it went away but i got scared now it's all i think about. any ideas as to what might be wrong? i have hashimotos underactive thyroid condition and mild mvp with trivial regurgu. also i suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome and i work as a secretary. any thoughts would be appreciated.
the last few days ive noticed my a few of my fingers are very dry. ive been using moisturiser cream on my hands but it doesnt seen to be helping. they also have this green tinge to them in the cracks where they are dry. is this a fungus or something...?

Just now, after my walk only one hand felt this way and what I found when comparing hands is the sluggish fingers are swelled. I probably should also mention the chest discomfort after the first three minutes of my walks and this goes away after ten minutes. This is nothing more than a discomfort and is also something I don't think much of but it is related to the above, so... I see my cardiologist in two weeks and will mention all this at that time.
Hello, Dry skin and contact dermatitis with soaps, detergents and other chemicals is one of the prime reasons for peeling of hands and feet. Sometimes cold, dry air can cause peeling and dermatitis or fungal infections can also cause peeling. Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin.
For the past two weeks all ten fingers have been peeling. It started as just the tips and now it is all over my fingers. I have tried vasoline, lotion, hand masks, different soaps, and baby oil. Nothing seems to be working. It keeps getting worse everyday. Its not bleeding and my hands are not dry. Its just looks like my fingers just keep peeling its top layer. Any suggestions on what it may be and how I can fix it.
I don't even remember the last time I turned the cold knob to wash my hands I have hair that grows on my chin. I swear I am reliving puberty as a teen age boy. But my docs won't check my thyroid. But I just gave up on listing sypmtoms. They don't seem to care and labled me as a hypercondriac. I have missed this sight soo much. Everyone here reminds me that I am not alone. Love you all so much. So sorry we are all suffering but at least there is strength in numbers.
I have this ugly peeling on my rt index and middle fingers. It has now started on my lt middle finger. It started about 7 yrs ago. It peelins off in layers. I have a dark complexion and it is very noticeable . The fingers are peeled down to a red, pale layer down to the second pip on the infected fingers. I have not found any relief with lotions, creams or MDs. I would love to find a cure. I have read many of the other discussions and my condition sounds very similar to mine.
I am a 70 yr old female who has had rather significant peeling of the skin on the palm side of the fingers. Some of it has wrapped a little bit around the fingers as well and a small amount on the palms. It resembles torn papyrus, if that helps. It is clear pink under the scalings and it is tender. I am a pianist/organist and there are times where they have bled...enough to stain the keys. This has been going on for about 6mo.
The tips of my fingers are very dry. They peel and one finger actually feels numb. one of the fingers that peeled was red and flaky underneath and was painful. What can I do?
Just wondering if anybody else experiences these weird feelings to their hands and fingers. I have two large bunions, but they aren't painful, but my hands are numb and stiff. The cold, damp weather aggravates my symptoms.
For about a month now the fingers in both my hands feel like they are swollen.T They look normal. This is a new symptom for me. The feeling in the tips of my fingers have what I would describe as displaced sensation, like I was wearing gloves when touching something and they are numb with pins & needles, this has been going on for a long time.

I've been having issues with numbing hands fingers arms and legs sometimes neck as well. Also these numbing spots get very cold at times. I noticed today it got a little challenging to operate my left hand. It's not my whole arm or legs, but usually just spots/areas. And the doctors I've seen cant give me any answers. I don't know what to do at this point or who to trust.
