Avatar m tn i have got tested positive for hep c about 4 months ago, found a family doctor which set up for me an appt with gastro in Brampton for march 2011. it looks like they are very busy and 7 month is normal waiting time for ontario (i was told so). and it looks like gastro will accept the people by refferal only... does anybody has an expirience with that system in ontario? or maybe you have any advise how to get an appt faster?
Avatar m tn Andy, I understand where your wife is with this, even though I don't have methadone experience. Coming off a very high dose of opiates was enough for me. I'm glad she's better today but she really did quit her methadone at a way too high dose. I've heard of ppl stopping at a 1/4 of what she did and having terrible WD. It's good she is better, but I agree with gnarly. If she wont take the methadone in tapering amounts, she needs to go to the hospital.
Avatar m tn Hi there, Thank you for the response and sorry that I couldn't reply earlier. I had Liver ultrason and other blood work done in ER. ALT is 921 AST is 383 AP is 183 and T Bill is 2.0. I have no Idea what are those number means but it lower than before and Ultrason has no sign of Cirrhosis as per doctor at ER. No other test were done. I also diagnosed with hep C last month. The doctor talked to liver specialist and said I am not in danger if I don't do drugs or drink.

Avatar f tn It sounds like your husband has made the commitment towards a healthy liver and that's a huge step in the right direction. Others have rebounded to a much healthier status and no longer require a LT. Let's hope your husband continues his healthy choices and maybe he'll be another case. There are others here in this forum that may drop in with their stories. I have decompensated, ESLD with a giant spleen and GI bleeding. But my liver numbers as amazing good.
Avatar f tn I am worried about possible contact with hep c virus. I was accidently poked with a used toothpick after about an hour it was used by an unknown person. There werent visible signs of blood andy fingers didnt bleed but it still hurts even after few hours. Could this have been a risk or hep c or any other viruses?
Avatar m tn my symptoms are as follow : i think i caught a minor cold which causes throat infection for me . Through the throat infection i got swollen lymph nodes on my neck and armpit and i also got rashes all over my body . the question is will cold causes so many kind of symptoms because i'm afraid of getting hiv as i received oral sex in a massage center by the first time... so regret now and i need serious help here...
Avatar f tn There may or may not be a correlation between lesions and symptoms at times, but in my case, it was most definitely the case. Oftentimes, it's specific symptoms that lead a neuro to image specific areas simply because of what and where they are having problems. Hope we can help - I would say a new plan is in order if this is a new area of demyelination for you :) Thanks for joining us.
5070443 tn?1364699122 Ask her to do a quick wash of surfaces, chances are you'll be just fine. I had a little cold when I had my c-section and they said as long as I wasn't down and out sick, I was fine to do it, actually my doctor said since I breastfed and having a minor cold (minor, very minor) she'd get the antibodies my body was producing to fight off the cold when she was very first born and that that was a good thing.
Avatar m tn Dear Andy, so you stopped this med. right? Does anyone know? I haven't looked up this med yet, you had trouble w side effects? Are you on other medication? NAMI has support groups.
Avatar n tn Now I am racking my brains trying to figure out if this pimple was indeed a mild case of herpes. My question is if this were a cold sore/herpes would acne medication make it go away? I am trying to figure out the difference between a cold sore & a pimple & the information out there is very confusing. ANy help would be really helpful as am not sure if I should make my boyfriend aware, in case this might be a false alarm. Please give me any suggestions. Thanks!!
Avatar n tn You will come in contact with people who have infectious disease or encounter circumstances all your life and never know it. According to what you've stated the dried blood would have to contain the virus to begin with and in the case of HCV or HIV the contaminated blood MUST enter the bloodstream to cause infection. This does not occur as easily as you think, otherwise entire families would be infected or for that matter the entire world.

Avatar m tn I write this now not as a question but to tell you all something about someone I believe most of us know. Andy im talking about you or Superand as he is known. My message is very simple but not to be undervalued by any means. I posted some weeks ago about a 900mg a day morphine habit (yes, 900mg) and was overwhelmed with the response from all of you. One response however stuck out and hit me as it was like I was talking to myself. But it was Andy. He knew me without ever meeting me.
Avatar m tn The wound was almost all the way healed but i could still feel where it was in my mouth with my tongue. Also, it was very cold and dry outside and i had cracked lips, and i noticed (when i got back) that there was just a very small amount of blood from one of the cracks on my lips after my encounter with this girl. So I really would like to know my risk, if any, the chance of being infected with HCV.
Avatar f tn ve begged him to go to rehab but he never does. Well a week ago he decided to quit cold turkey and had withdrawls for 3 days and now he's fine. From everything I've read, it's not that easy and it lasts longer than 3 days. My question is, is it possible or did he possibly start taking them again?

Avatar f tn There was a period of time that Andy had gotten frustrated because he wanted more in the relationship then I was willing to give so we fought on and off for a few months.
10805050 tn?1420935520 ve heard a few people talk about how once they quit drinking that they were able to get back to being healthy in time. This in spite of having Hep C. I think alcohol is so much worse than Hep C, but then that is just my own experience and stories I've heard from others. Plus, alcoholism may be the more difficult of the two to defeat since there are no pills to cure one of it. So, I admire you greatly for being able to quit and congratulate you on your near one-year of sobriety.
637356 tn?1301924822 This is from newshound Dave Barry's colonoscopy journal: I called my friend Andy Sable, a gastroenterologist, to make an appointment for a colonoscopy. A few days later, in his office, Andy showed me a color diagram of the colon, a lengthy organ that appears to go all over the place, at one point passing briefly through Minneapolis. Then Andy explained the colonoscopy procedure to me in a thorough, reassuring and patient manner.
1636357 tn?1300254494 Actually people from any race or birth descent can get beta thalessemia minor. It is just more frequent in people of Greek and Italian origin. Hence even though you are of Scotch-Irish descent you can get this trait which is popularly called Mediterranean blood disease as it is more common in them. Take care!
