Common Questions and Answers about Coffee withdrawal insomnia

coffee

Avatar f tn It certainly sounds like you are, but you will know for sure if you experience these withdrawal symptoms - especially if these occur 12 hours after your last coffee: headache, foggy, depression, irritability, fatigue, decreased alertness If you are trying to quit coffee, these symptoms can last for a full week. You also mentioned that you are adding whipped cream and syrup to your coffees. These can most certainly be additive. Please see my website: Addictionsunplugged.
Avatar f tn I just looked up Caffiene withdrawal and among others mood swings, depression, anxiety, insomnia, fatigue and flu symptoms are some things listed!!! Could I be experiencing both Caffiene and opiate withdrawal? There are some articles that say Caffiene withdrawal is classified in some journals as a mental disorder!! I want to drink coffee now but it's 10pm! I'm intrigued now. Thoughts?
Avatar f tn How long does the really bad insomnia last? Day 4 of no oxy and all of my other physical symptoms are done! But last night I was literally up allll night! Finally went to the store and got melatonin when it opened at 7 ans slept a couple hours, would probably still be asleep had my husband not woke me!
Avatar f tn As a nurse you know that when we take a sleep aid it will eventually need to be paid back with some insomnia. Try to look at it as temporary. Your sleep WILL return. Avoid using OTC sleep aids other than Melatonin. A hot bath before bed will do wonders. But do expect a few days of rough insomnia. During that time sleep when your body says and forget about "bedtime" sorry to say. You will need some sick days from qwork to go cold turkey off the pain meds.

Avatar m tn I've had success with drinking coffee before bedtime with RLS. that just goes contrary to all logic. I've been doing some research on caffeine and found that it regulates certain neurotransmitters and increases dopamine levels. this coming from someone with extreme to severe RLS and currently taking meripex to help. I have found I can decrease my meripex by doing the above.........
4268628 tn?1375041176 I can relate had the same kinda nite and have my plumber coming out today to fix a leaky pipe zzz....

Avatar f tn I started out on Wellbutrin 100mg SR twice a day. I had problems with insomnia so my psych added 100mg Zoloft and changed the Wellbutrin to 150mg XL once a day. I take the Wellbutrin in the morning and I take the Zoloft at night at night before I go to sleep. I wake up feeling really groggy and foggy headed. It takes me a good few hours to fully wake up. I'm good for a few hours and then by 12pm I just crash. By 9pm I'm wide awake!
220090 tn?1379167187 I've had severe insomnia every time I treated. This time is persisted long after I stopped treatment. I have no problem falling asleep, but I wake up a few hours afterward and can't easily go back to sleep. One week ago, we had company for the weekend and I wanted to be energetic during the day. I decided to have some coffee with caffeine, since I read the study suggesting it not only didn't damage the liver, but might actually prevent damage.
Avatar f tn A cup of coffee a day OR a couple of caffeinated sodas a day is fine. They recommend keeping consumption under 200mg.
3127670 tn?1342373916 now in my withdrawal from opiates...day three now...I cant f***** sit still....cant sleep...becoming unbareable..I just took 1 mg of ativan and now feel guilty...I want to be free of ALL drugs and dont need another habit to kick (smoking is next)...anyone have experience with this???
Avatar n tn The medical causes needs to be ruled out like low blood sugar, hyperthyroid state, cardiac abnormality etc. You should quit coffee, smoking, tea, alcohol, heavy meal which can trigger blood pressure and cardiac load leading to palpitations. Get an ECG to rule out any heart condition, blood sugar, thyroid status. If any medical condition found, should be treated accordingly. Relaxation exercises, listening to music, bathing with warm water, massaging with oil etc will help you.
Avatar f tn Watch out for withdrawal headaches if you're used to your coffee and stop suddenly you can get a nasty one for a few days. On top of that, pregnancy can also cause migraines, and a little caffeine can help in a pinch; it's an active ingredient in migraine meds (which you CAN'T take). Just make sure you're also drinking lots and lots of water.
Avatar n tn I'm 30weeks pregnant and i have been experiencing serious insomnia. Like i can never sleep and when i do its for a few mins or hours and then im wide awake. Please help! Does anyone have this problem?
Avatar f tn I feel you might have taken quite few medications for your sleeplessness over years and so want to stop further. Ambien is good choice for treatment of insomnia, but it is intended for short-term use. Elavil/Endep can be tried if you are not comfortable with Ambien and it is a non-addictive drug. Try to relax and plan a healthy sleeping habit on a long-term basis. Avoid coffee/tea, smoking, alcohol and a bulky spicy meal at nights.
Avatar f tn m 24 years old and rarely drink and no drugs and occassionally a cup of coffee in the morning, depending on if I got any sleep at all the night before. What could be wrong with me lately? It's driving me crazy....and I hate to admit this, but I'm really not the nicest person to talk to if I haven't gotten any sleep. My fiancee is going crazy with me not sleeping....anyone have any advice or suggestions?
675923 tn?1296238011 Even though your dose of vicodin is relatively low, your long period of use has likely resulted in some withdrawal. There are also different aspects to withdrawal, including physical withdrawal which would mainly consist of diarrhea, body aches, insomnia, and intense fatigue; psychological withdrawal which would be primarily agitation and depression; and finally something called 'PAWS' or 'post acute withdrawal syndrome'.
Avatar n tn First of all, my periods which had stopped shortly after starting Risperdal returned and my breasts which were producing milk dried up but now I suffer from insomnia. I sometimes get only 1 1/2 hours of sleep a night. Will this go away on its own?
Avatar m tn Insomnia and restless legs are the toughest things about wd.Nyquil helped me a few nights ,but it in itself can be habit forming so use it wisely.Sleep is the most important thing during withdrawal and during our normal lives.Anything legal that helps you sleep is ok by me.Nyquil is still better than getting hooked on benzos and if used wisely can be a big help to recovery.Sweats are normal during recovery and keep up the good work.
Avatar m tn A related discussion, <a href="/posts/Addiction-Substance-Abuse/Tramadol-withdrawal-insomnia/show/2655167">Tramadol withdrawal insomnia</a> was started.
Avatar m tn So I had no clue that this was addictive and there would be withdrawal symptoms. I only took 1 200mg timed release per day (at night so I could sleep) for severe osteoarthritis pain. Being a dentist, the pain was so bad I needed this to sleep and be functional the next day. The arthritis pain forced me to retire recently. Now that I'm retired, I decided to A) lose some weight (chronic pain really puts the pounds on you), and B) give my body a break from the Tramadol.
Avatar n tn I asked the nurse if I should completely cut out coffee or is it ok to have a cup a day and she said a cup a day is fine. I cut it out the first time and it wasn't too bad. For some reason this time around it's hard. I'm trying to slowly wean myself and cut it out but I was seeing if anyone else's Dr said it's ok to have a cup a day or did they want you to cut it out? Or is there anything you like to drink in the morning in place of it? Thanks!
