I have IBS, general pregnancy constipation and constipation as a side effect from the medication I am on for my Hyperemesis. I'm 38 weeks and this has been an issue my entire pregnancy. I've tried it ALL and nothing worked. I was even rushed to the hospital after not being able to go for 14 DAYS!!! Per the doctor and my home care nurse, I have to give myself an enema every 3 days and that's been Heaven sent. It's a Fleet Saline Enema and it's safe!
My doctor prescribed me pills to help with constipation. You can try enema too. I'm dealing with lots and lots of constipation this pregnancy.
make sure that you are keeping yourself very hydrated. i know that coffee helps some people too, you could try that. also make sure that you are eating a lot of fiber. like broccoli, nuts and grains.

I'm surprised your OB isn't treating this as serious. Did they feel your belly to see if you're all stocked up in there because that isn't healthy for you or baby. Constipation is common, especially in early pregnancy. You aren't supposed to use enemas during pregnancy but if you don't have a BM soon they're only going to suck it out in the hospital. A home remedy is taking chipped bar soap, about a half teaspoon and putting it inside your anus as far as it can go.
Prune juice!! Really helps. If you have this problem every day, then miralax helps.
My doctor prescribed me something for constipation. So talk to your doctor, I'm sure they'd be glad to help.
I am having a lot of pain in my stomach and I havent been able to eat anything. I have tried drinking coffee because that usually makes me have a bowel movement but it didn't work. So I then took some metamucil which is a laxative, also I took stool softeners, none of which has worked. I then took suppositories, tried it twice and no lulck either time besides mucuc looking stools. I do not know what is wrong and what my next step should be. I would like any feedback possible.

) I know someone who uses a slant board, and a black coffee enema, but I am not brave enough to try it. Sometimes, drinking two cups of hot black coffee work for me, but only if it's done within a day or two. Not as long as you've been dealing with it.
And finally, mineral oil. You will still probably need at least a Fleet enema, because the longer you are constipated, the more dehydrated your stool becomes.

I have extreme constipation. I have to take Zofran so that my food stays in but it doesn't let my food come out at all. I have to take 3 stool softeners a day, fiber pills 3 times a day, and sometimes I eat yogurt or drink coffee for an extra push. It is embarrassing though. My last pregnancy I was so bad that I was stuck in the bathroom for 7 hours and I'll never forget it BC it was on mothers day. My husband ended up having to run to the store and come back and gave me an enema.
A large cup of coffee does it for me but if you're a regular coffee drinker it might not help. Sorry that is the worst but it'll pass.
Have you tried any home remedies for your constipation? You could drink coffee, prune juice or apple juice to help loosen it up. Best thing to do is go buy a fiber mix & it'll help you go. If you're that backed up though I would recommend getting some medical attention before it becomes dangerous for you and baby.
Not sure if u ladies have experienced this but how have you dealt with constipation/bloating? I have tried colace, prune juice, now adding mucilax(spelling wrong) seems to not help. I have heard most laxatives aren't safe since it can cause miscarriage or pre term labor. Can you give yourself an enema or is that not good either? Very uncomfortable feeling. Any advice???
Having never personally given a cat a barium enema, I just don't know about what you do or don't see in it (something I hope to never change!!!) :).
As far as diet, is kitty eating lots of dry, and little or no wet? A healthy cat will develop these problems do to insufficient water intake, and cats got almost 90% of their liquid intake from food. So I'd advise pulling kitty off the dry, and trying to stick to wet food. You may have to experiment with brand flavor.
I have had the worst constipation; to the point I could NOT sit on my butt! Nothing worked...I tried Prune juice, fiber, MiraLAX, Metamucil, suppositories and after 3 weeks the doctor suggested I go to the hospital. They gave me an enema! And it finally worked, but not without a lot of pain, bleeding and pressure. Anyone else been through this?
I have been on 2 prescriptions to stop my nausea and vomiting which also cause severe constipation. I tried drinking lots of water, warm purine juice, MiraLAX, etc and nothing worked. My doctor and home care nurse have me taking an enema every 3 days. It's helps immediately! It's gentle on the stomach and does not cause cramps or contractions. As a matter of fact, I use the same brand they give pregnant women in the hospital...
It sounds like u have sa blockageband some is seeping around. If no relief from laxative or stool softner, you may need a fleets enema or a soapy water enema. Call your doc. Good luck.
Often an adjustment in diet and fluid intake will fix constipation. If it is persistent, especially if there is any pain or blood, you need to tell your doc who should order a bowel screening for you, but hopefully it won't come to that. I don't think HCV would be the cause but there are many unknowns about this virus so I wouldn't completely rule it out either.
