Coffee effects on stomach

Common Questions and Answers about Coffee effects on stomach

coffee

I was told that if your stomach is sensitive to coffee, that it could have the same effects as Castor oil, as far as helping to start contractions? I do have a sensitivity to coffee, If I drink even 1 cup, it sends me to the bathroom (#2) several times, and I heard that having soft frequent stools like that can stimulate the uterus to contract. I was wondering if anyone has heard of this? And if anyone has used coffee to help bring on labor? Im officially desperate lmao.
since my tx started and has just ended ( 56 weeks ) i have lost my taste for coffee too. it was causing stomach problems at the beginning of tx along with side effects of meds i just gave it up. and yes a bad taste helped me to quit as well. now if i could have the same thing happen with cigs i could eliminate my last vice. happy holidays to you.

He will be walking to get a cup of coffee and double over with the pain. I have read info on side effects and things to do to help with them. I was wondering if any one else is experiencing this kind of pain and what they are doing to help make it less severe(if possible). Thanks for listening.
Thirst is not an accurate indicator. Better is the color of your urine, clear being more hydrated and a darker yellow being less hydrated. Problem here is that what you eat and drink, and esp some drugs and vitamins can sometimes darken the color of urine even when you're hydrated. I believe doctors can tell with urine dip sticks that you can also purchase but not sure on that. You'll find out soon enough whether or not you can tolerate coffee on treatment.
Carry around a couple of snacks like yogurt/crackers/granola bars or anything that can be handy and something that you can snack on so at least you can have something in your stomach with the medications. On days when I don't eat enough or don't eat properly, thats when my ill side effect start in. Congratulation on the new birth of that darling baby!! Think of him, that will always make you feel better.
1x a day. should I skip the coffee, 2 cups, in the am. wondering if coffee could be negating the strength of the armour? just curious, as I am certain other people are as well. any advice appreciated, sushi.
It has ALWAYS been precipitated by my drinking coffee. Let me say that I've had a 'bad' stomach my whole life (many tests and nothing ever found) and coffee has been a love/hate relationship for me. It gives me indigestion and heartburn so I go off of it for a while but eventually come back.
) This past February, about two weeks before I started treatment, I read that coffee had protective effects for the liver. Hmmm. Not a big coffee drinker, I stopped by the local Starbucks and had a double-latte something or another. Strongest d*mn drink I can remember. :) That night was the beginning of my GERD (persistent reflux)problems that have hounded me throughout my treatment. I'm looking for a stronger word than "ironic" but I guess ironic will have to do.
just hang in there! I love my coffee (and tea) and have not given up either on tx.
I took a No-doze once in college because I'd had to work late and had an exam to study for. It made me feel horrendously sick and I fell in to a deep sleep with no consciousness until morning...I still got an A on the test. The extreme caffeine did have a very opposite effect. I've never tried anything like that again. We aren't a one size fits all species.
but here and there I'd have a cup of coffee in the morning (hubby got me hooked on coffee when I moved up with him, then he got me pregnant! lol) ...and occasionally I'd have a soda. After the miscarriage tho I looked at every possible thing I could have put in or done to my body to cause it (Yes, I know they say it's not your fault, but it's kinda hard to think that anyway!) With this pregnancy, it took me a lot longer to 'give in' to my random cravings for a soda or cup of coffee.
However, consider that you drink a cup of coffee a day, and the baby is finally able to metabolise it and eliminates it into the amniotic fluid, only to consume it again within the next 24 hours, which is when you consume your next cup of coffee. This is where part the risk is posed for miscarriage.
Haven't found anything to relieve it, but drinking a lot of Coke helps some (can't stomach coffee). I can't take Benadryl, as it makes my symptoms much worse. Just goes to show how different we all are with this :) I have noticed that the worse the storm, the worse my symptoms, so if I'm incredibly dizzy, I know it's time to head to the basement with the dogs, because there's probably a tornado nearby.
A week ago, I drank way too much on an empty stomach and threw up ‘coffee ground’ like vomit My doc has chalked this all up to the fact that I was taking aspirin quite heavily for a week because of tooth pain. Additionally, she thinks the bright red blood could be from hemorrhoids. I have since researched the side effects and these are all possible side effects. I have since found out that I really shouldn’t take aspirin and ibuprofen (which I use) not only that week.
I have low BP and my Doc recommends I drink coffee - not by the potfuls but a couple cups a day Drinking coffee all day long while on Ribavirin may make it hard to sleep at night...
Do you read the stuff you post? This looks rather weak insofar as linking Tylenol and Coffee with liver damage, in my opinion. I wouldn't hesitate to have a cup or 2 of coffee and a couple of Tylenol based on this "study"(?). Their own expert said it would be hast to draw any conclusions from the study of bacteria. I have tried to isolate a few salient points.. Researchers performed the study on E.
I sometimes have a single soda on a weekend, but never drink more than 1 a week. I recently had a Sprite on a near empty stomach, and sure enough I have blood in my stool. The stool is your regular brown color, but theres some red "in" it. Like a ribbon of red inside the stool. When I stay away from soda/coffee, I'm fine. Is this something major? Or is it as easy as, "some people get this when they drink a drink containing acid.
DRINK WATER ON EMPTY STOMACH It is popular in Japan today to drink water immediately after waking up every morning. Furthermore, scientific tests have proven a its value. We publish below a description of use of water for our readers.
Other components, including caffeine, have been shown to have favorable effects on liver enzymes. Coffee has also been related to a reduced risk of liver diseases and cirrhosis, which can lead to liver cancer. "Despite the consistency of these results, it is difficult to derive a causal inference on the basis of the observational studies alone," the authors note.
"But I do take issue that this discussion group mostly represents those who have had side effects on the more severe side" hi Jim, this place IS a life line to me,,,BUT I was 'trying' to point out that we do not have enough posts from people when things are going good. They are important also. That's part of the reason so may people fear treatment,I believe.Thats why I wanted to make sure i posted that my start was fine, 'for the ones waiting to tx.
Coffee consumption is worldwide spread with few side effects. Interestingly, coffee intake has been inversely related to the serum enzyme activities gamma-glutamyltransferase, and alanine aminotransferase in studies performed in various countries. In addition, epidemiological results, taken together, indicate that coffee consumption is inversely related with hepatic cirrhosis; however, they cannot demonstrate a causative role of coffee with prevention of liver injury.
Laying on my left side right after drinking hot tea or coffee and eating something in the morning helps it move along if its in there and just not coming out.

I suppose they may have you on it to help control the reflux but if the side effects are really bothering you then don't take it and try to get Domperidone if you really need it.
I did well on it. Whereas others have given me side effects I could not handle. If you really do not want to stay on Effexor, then have a word with your doctor.
