Common Questions and Answers about Coffee caffeine health

coffee

Avatar f tn Actually, studies show those who have fatty liver benefit from caffeine. Coffee caffeine consumption is associated with a significant reduction in risk of fibrosis among NASH patients. Drinking coffee may help prevent diabetes as caffeine may be the ingredient largely responsible for this effect. Looks like you will be changing doctors. I'd discuss it with your new doctor but would not avoid caffeine in the interim unless of course there is a medical reason for it.
Avatar f tn I also read that it takes longer for the caffeine to get out your system .. What can coffee cause your baby to have ? Or any health issues ?
Avatar f tn It is great that you are looking out for your own health and the baby. There are different studies about coffee drinking while pregnant. It is still recommended not to drink caffeine drinks: coffee, teas, sodas (Coke, Pepsi, Mountain Dew to name a few). Decaf drinks do have a minimal amount of caffeine, however, they are safer to drink. Suggest increasing your consummation of water, which is a healthy benefit. Thank you for your question.

755829 tn?1246919225 Hi there, I provide some basic advice on other forums, but am looking for some advice of my own now, I am wondering if there are health benefits in cutting out coffee and replacing it with decafe coffee, some friends say its good others say it's no better?
Avatar f tn U can have 1 glass of soda or coffee a day. But more caffeine in the first trimester is linked to higher miscarriage rates. For me, I avoid it completely. It's not worth the risk.
Avatar n tn Hi - I am a 40 year old female recently diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. I am a huge fan of anything with caffeine - I love coffee, tea and diet soda. I've been told to lay off of the caffeine but can't seem to find any information to support the notion that somehow caffeine intake is detrimental to my 'condition' and well-being. Thoughts on the subject are most appreciated!!
Avatar f tn Any tips for a coffee addict? I'm always wanting coffee, but I know I need to stop after 1-2 cups for my baby's sake. Any tips that worked for you?
Avatar n tn For some people caffeine does raise BG (caffeine is a stimulant). For others it does not raise BG. only way to tell is to test. Test before... drink... test after. if BG higher after than for you yes. HOWEVER do NOT do the test in the morning as you may have DP (Dawn Phenomenon) and that can sque the results of any testing in the morning.
Avatar n tn I am 24 weeks pregnant tomorrow with baby #3 and the sleepless nights are starting to kick in. I really want, and need some coffee but I am nervous to drink it while pregnant. I know having a little caffeine is not bad and I have a soda every now and then but I've never had caffeinated coffee during any of my pregnancies. What do y'all think?
Avatar n tn Ive never been much of a coffee drinker and with my last 2 kids tea was a big part of my fluid intake and had no health issues. Now I drink 1 cup of coffee 2-3 times a week because Im still working and some days I just feel so drained. Doing research now I'm seeing caffine in particular can have a high risk of birth defects. Anyone have any issues caffine related during their pregnancy that cause development issues?

Avatar f tn A fatal dose of caffeine would be 10 grams of coffee or about 80 cups of coffee all at once. While you are not likely drinking anywhere near a fatal dose, you are probably experiencing some serious consequences from your heavy intake of caffeine. Are you addicted to the caffeine?
Avatar f tn If you can avoid it then you should. As 200mg is the maximum caffeine intake each day that is recommended by Dr's and other health professionals. Don't forget that chocolate, soda, tea and even some medications contain caffeine. So try not to over do it.
Avatar f tn Caffeine is found in more than just coffee. Caffeine is not only found in coffee but also in tea, soda, chocolate, and even some over-the-counter medications that relieve headaches. Avatar m tn If so that may be because your body is use to the loads of coffee as my mum was breaking the habit of coffee she often found she was having dreadful headaches from the decrease in caffeine. You should defiantly not being drinking that much coffee though cause of the caffeine content maybe you should go on an addiction breaking plan or something and see if the symptoms go away?
