755829 tn?1246919225 But if you must drink coffee then yes, I would say that decaff is better than regular coffee. Decaff contains little to no caffeine while regular coffee contains high amounts of caffeine. Caffeine can cause MANY problems. I would name them all but it would take me a very long time. Look at this website for further information on caffeine and the side effects it has. Some you have probably already had and didn't even notice. While others take a long time to happen. http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar m tn Caffeine is in the same family of broncho-dilaters as theophyline. Coffee, tea colas... can help relive asthma symptoms. I seriously do not recommend using caffiene to control your asthma though. I did that for several years. The stimulant effects of the caffeine can be really bad. There are much more effective medications available that have fewer side effects. God bless.
Avatar n tn Hi - I am a 40 year old female recently diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. I am a huge fan of anything with caffeine - I love coffee, tea and diet soda. I've been told to lay off of the caffeine but can't seem to find any information to support the notion that somehow caffeine intake is detrimental to my 'condition' and well-being. Thoughts on the subject are most appreciated!!
Avatar f tn You can have caffeine but in moderation. I am an avid diet coke, coffee, and tea drinker and I needed to cut back but my ob said it would be okay if I had only 1 6-8oz serving of caffeine per day (it also helps me relieve headaches). Also, if your worried, just switch to decaf!

1810204 tn?1316508562 I have the same issue, it seems to be that certain types of coffee contain more caffeine than others. It could be the protein in coffee that you are allergic to or it could even be the sulfur. I know its frustrating because I have had coffee since I was little and just now having reoccurring side effects. Keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Caffeine is found in more than just coffee. Caffeine is not only found in coffee but also in tea, soda, chocolate, and even some over-the-counter medications that relieve headaches. Avatar f tn This reaction to caffeine has only been for a couple of weeks. Before then, I could drink a small cup of coffee without any effects. It's just so strange now that I can't even have a couple of SIPS of coffee without it effecting me physiologically.
Avatar f tn Daily caffeine consumption was estimated as the sum of mean intakes of coffee, tea and caffeine-containing sodas. Patients (153 men, 84 women, mean age: 45.4years) were classified into 4 groups according to caffeine consumption. As shown in the table, there was a significant inverse relationship between activity grade and daily caffeine consumption, p679 mg daily appeared to reduce risk the most.
Avatar f tn What is the effect of caffeine on your baby? I have drank coffee throughout my entire pregnancy and the doctors seem to believe my baby is strong and healthier than most. But I'd love to know the medical effects of caffeine on a fetus...
Avatar f tn You could try switching to non-caffeine containing herbal coffee, that is associated with decreased side effects. If this does not seem to help or you have trouble switching over, I would recommend seeing a psychiatrist for a de-addiction program. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
1298588 tn?1330318981 As a lot of you probably know, I deal with tachycardia on a regular basis, and have been making any kind of lifestyle changes I can think of in an attempt to minimise my episodes. Most importantly, I have cut out caffeine. I used to drink coffee in abundance, but not anymore. Some of the worst episodes of tachycardia I have experienced have been triggered by that delicious yet troublesome substance, caffeine, so I started to avoid it altogether.
Avatar f tn I drink soda still not everyday but probably close enough lol and as for coffee I only drink decaf but thats cuz the caffeine upsets my stomach.

Caffeine stimulates the release of excess stress hormones via its stimulant effects on the adrenal glands.
Avatar m tn But a person with ADHD has major dopamine problems which the adderall addresses. The caffeine effects you like it would a normal person (of course, depending on the amount) while the adderall just brings you back to normal (kind of). Does that make any sense?
Avatar f tn Actually, studies show those who have fatty liver benefit from caffeine. Coffee caffeine consumption is associated with a significant reduction in risk of fibrosis among NASH patients. Drinking coffee may help prevent diabetes as caffeine may be the ingredient largely responsible for this effect. Looks like you will be changing doctors. I'd discuss it with your new doctor but would not avoid caffeine in the interim unless of course there is a medical reason for it.
