755829 tn?1246919225 But if you must drink coffee then yes, I would say that decaff is better than regular coffee. Decaff contains little to no caffeine while regular coffee contains high amounts of caffeine. Caffeine can cause MANY problems. I would name them all but it would take me a very long time. Look at this website for further information on caffeine and the side effects it has. Some you have probably already had and didn't even notice. While others take a long time to happen. http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar f tn t good for the baby, I used to drink a 20 Oz espresso every day, but the Dr said that about the cup of one cup of coffee is okay, as long as you are not exceeding 200mg of caffeine, that applies to tea too. And absolutely no energy drinks. I completely stopped drinking coffee all the way and I was the biggest addict.
Avatar m tn The fresh ground coffee will be much stronger and contain more caffeine. You can buy caffeine reduced coffee and also dandelion coffee (this contains no caffeine and is a bit of an acquired taste!) Stick to 1 of two cups of coffee in a day and don't drink any caffeinated drinks (that includes fizzy drinks and tea) after early evening. Keep a record of your symptoms so that you can avoid your coffee drink if you want to feel calm and have a good night's sleep.
1654035 tn?1332425178 ) during my first pregnancy I completely lost my taste for coffee and had no problem being without it throughout and even months past the birth. Well my craving for coffee has not gone away so far and I know I need to avoid caffeine and have been literally drinking 1/4 cup in the morning with a good amount of almost milk in it. Problem is I am literally dragging at this point, so tired all the time, and my drive to work is almost an hour, where I would usually enjoy my coffee.
1450627 tn?1296616593 They say 200mg of caffeine is safe. This means ONE cup of coffee not a venti from Starbucks or extra large coffee but one cup of coffee. But if you look at the nutrition guide on coffee black coffee is approx 200mg per cup but the espresso drinks are less than that! :). Yes spoken like a true caffeine addict lol. Bc we are past our first trimester caffeine isn't as much as a worry for miscarriage the concern is that it depletes your body of calcium which baby is already doing.
Avatar f tn You can drink soda and tea and coffee your whole pregnancy the only warning is the carbonated water in soda releases calcium from your bones and caffeine can dehydrate you so be sure to also drink water and add calcium to your diet
Avatar f tn Coffee causes calcium depletion (which affects the heart muscle since calcium is necessary for normal contractions), and drinking coffee with milk or taking a calcium supplement in the morning will reduce the probability of a palpitation. Try decaffinated coffee, but select a brand that is treated with supercritical carbon dioxide, rather than conventional solvents.
304970 tn?1331425994 My doc said that 2 cups of caffeine (whether is be soda or coffee) is ok. I usually only drink caffenated soda if I go out to eat and try and buy caffeine free soda for when I'm at home. I don't drink coffee but maybe 2 times a week I'll get a tall Caramel Frappucino at Starbucks and I don't even finish it. Everyone else I have talked to that is/was pregnant, said their doctor told them the same (2 cups caffeine a day).
1354772 tn?1300977548 Caffeine will definitely worsen your anxiety...So, anything with caffeine in it will have this effect (soda, coffee, tea, etc.). You will also want to avoid energy drinks. Technically, the effect is more physical than mental, but when you feel the same physical effects as you do from an anxiety attack (racing heart, palpitations, sweating, shakes, etc.), you automatically link it to anxiety and begin to give yourself anxiety.
Avatar f tn interesting huh, well, I am Never having coffee on an empty stomach again... and I will continue to take calcium for a while longer.... tell me what you think? This discussion is related to Unusual symptoms.

Avatar f tn I love my caffeine! Sofa coffee whatever keeps me going, how many of you found it really hard to cut back being that your pregnant?
Avatar f tn Actually, studies show those who have fatty liver benefit from caffeine. Coffee caffeine consumption is associated with a significant reduction in risk of fibrosis among NASH patients. Drinking coffee may help prevent diabetes as caffeine may be the ingredient largely responsible for this effect. Looks like you will be changing doctors. I'd discuss it with your new doctor but would not avoid caffeine in the interim unless of course there is a medical reason for it.
11157192 tn?1430159059 Coffee is okay. Try to limit it to 1-2 a day. Drink lots of water.

Avatar f tn Im a huge coffee drinker as well. My doctor said 4 cups were fine 2 in the morning and another two thru out the rest of the day. My baby boy is healthy and big already.
Avatar f tn Yes coffee has a lot more caffeine than soda. I just don't like soda because of the sugar..
Avatar f tn In the beginning of my pregnancy i drank a lot of pop cause its all i craved until my cousin yelled at me. It can cause still birth (caffeine) so i completely stopped the caffeine drinking. I only drink sprite & gingerale if i want pop. I hate coffee so thats not a prob for me. Id say try drinking pop with no caffeine. I drank a coke the other day and through it all up.
1123420 tn?1350561158 t ever drink caffeine, Today I woke up and my mom was making coffee, I miss coffee so much. So I decided to have a cup.. Should I feel guilty?
Avatar f tn Ive never heard of long term affects a safe amount of caffeine has on the baby. I drink either a coffee, or once a week a pop instead. This is my third pregnancy to do this. I just steer clear of mountain dew cause it has higher caffeine and i only have one or sometimes two regular sized cups of coffee a day.
Avatar f tn Yes its ok,we are allowed up to between 200/300mg of caffeine a day..
Avatar f tn I drink coffee all day... it is not good but I'm not good without my coffee. Lol.. I have never had any trouble but I know it is thought to cause problems during pregnancy.
