Avatar f tn I suffered a mild stroke (blood clot) Consultant prescribed Clopidogrel but cannot tolerate side effects. Then consultant prescribed Dipyridamole. I cannot tolerate this either. Severe headache, vomiting and diarrhoea. Has anybody got a different medication they are on?
Avatar n tn 5 years my cardiologist suggests me to change to warfarin + asprin theraphy. I am scared of warfarin due to its side effects and risks. What are my risks if I continue with my currrent asprin+clopidogrel dual anticoagulant theraphy? 482754 tn?1341791494 I no longer have to take clopidogrel and effient wasn't around for me to use. However, I do remember reading some articles on this medication. Although it has been approved for patient use, it does have one concern. If you are on this drug and have surgery such as a bypass, it tends to cause severe bleeding, which can be fatal. Clopidrogrel (plavix) has no such problem attached to it. On the plus side, it reduces other risks dramatically and outperforms clopidogrel hands down.
Avatar f tn I was on numerous tablets including beta blockers, ace inhibitors, clopidogrel ,omeprozole and aspirin ,I have been taken off them all now except aspirin and omeprozole because of the side effects and other medication is being decided, however the drugs are now out of my system and I'm still getting the rash which looks like scratch marks all over my body and quite severe attacks if chest pain,I'm not allergic to the two things I'm on so have done some research and found that stents hav
Avatar f tn •nosebleed or other bleeding that will not stop; •bloody or tarry stools, blood in your urine; •coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds; •chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling;•sudden numbness or weakness, especially on one side of the body; •sudden headache, confusion, problems with vision, speech, or balance; •pale skin, weakness, fever, or jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes); or easy bruising, unusual
Avatar n tn Sorry forgot to answer the actual question. I think Zantac is fine as long as your kidneys and liver are not diseased. However, it isn't as effective as a proton pump inhibitor. I would speak to your Doctor if heart burn is an issue because something like Omeprazole would be much more beneficial. I can also vouch that it doesn't reduce the effects of Clopidogrel or Lipitor.
Avatar m tn I am currently taking plavix, 81mg aspirin AND coumadin on a daily basis. I had a stent put in in July 2008 and triple by pass in 2006. I'm 64 and had my first MI at 33. My father died of an MI at 46, my EF is under 30%. My EP (at one hospital) just suggested I eliminate the plavix while my CHF specialist (at a nearby major research university) said I would be on plavix for a "long time" (forever?).
Avatar n tn Either increases effects of the other by pharmacodynamic synergism. Significant - Monitor Closely. Clopidogrel and NSAIDs both inhibit platelet aggregation" Source: Medscape Reference. You can do this on your own. Just type "multi-drug interaction checker"and search. Hope this helps. Cheers!
Avatar f tn As far as I am aware, Clopidogrel bisulfate is a medication to inhibit clotting in the blood to lower the risk of heart attacks/strokes. I don't think this medication is aimed at lowering blood pressure. There is concern raised by some cardiologists that they have seen patients forming clots quickly when taken off this drug, usually if taken for less than 2-3 years. I would report this quickly just in case the removal of plavix is causing restenosis.
Avatar f tn I am in no way suggesting that you stop any meds, but I am saying it is a strong possibility. Clopidogrel (plavix) is a medication given after stenting and this causes shortness of breath with me. I had to endure it for a year and when the medication was stopped, it was like I had a new pair of lungs. ALL medications have side effects but at different severities and are often overlooked.
Avatar m tn Note that there are other medicine with almost the same effect that might give you less side effects like Clopidogrel and Ticagrelor.
Avatar m tn Which is better anticoagulnt from rivaroxaban and clopidogrel for stroke prevention. My grandmother had stroke 6 years ago and she has atrial fibrilation. So far she used clopidogrel as treatment but her new doctor perscribed medication with rivaroxaban (but it is far more expensive) ?
Avatar n tn I was in a terrible car accident causing me to be in the hospital for one month and now leaving me on Plavix for 5 months so far. i have had many of the side effects; nausea, dizziness, fatigue, easy bruising etc. but lately something came up that shocked me, i don't know how long they have been there for, but my throat had been hurting for about 2 weeks and i looked in my mouth and saw white lesions and ulcers in my mouth.
Avatar n tn s heart valve and a pacemaker and they were taking the medication clopidogrel for 7 years and then stopped taking it for a few months, could there be any ramifications?
Avatar n tn It is becoming more acceptable now that clopidogrel is a benefit for life. While aspirin works on one side of the clotting process, clopidogrel works from another. You say your heart attack was caused by cholesterol but this isn't strictly true. Cholesterol is one of the later processes which makes the heart attack happen but isn't the initial cause. The initial cause is damage to your artery linings which can be through blood pressure or bad diet.
Avatar n tn Since your panic attacks are happening less, are the headaches numerous and a reason that you cannot take the medication anymore? Or are some of the side effects okay with you now that your anxiety is much better? What does your prescribing doctor say about this? Headaches can also be caused by an endless number of factors in my opinon. Are you getting enough sleep? Are you still under a lot of stress? The point is, that the headaches may not even be related to the medication itself.
1020296 tn?1251475359 what dosage is the beta blocker? It looks as though there could be an imbalance of the medication maybe. What is the dosage of the blood pressure medication (ramipril)?
