Avatar m tn Welcome, The answer is yes..you can have withdrawal symptoms if you stop abruptly. Are you taking it to control your blood pressure or for ADHD or for withdrawal from opiates? Is it prescribed or self-medicated? If you give us some more information we can help you through this.
Avatar m tn anyone have any info on using Clonidine .1 mg for opiate withdrawal systems? Suppose to be a high blood pressure medication, but says it can be used for withdrawal systems too? wondering if it really works?
Avatar f tn clonidine is originally for high blood pressure, and since the high bp causes a lot of the withdrawal symptoms (racing heart, sweats, etc) the Clonidine is suppose to lower your bp and help with these symptoms. It is possible your bp is dropping too low. Do you have a blood pressure cuff and have you talked to your doctor? You can go to a walgreens/walmart and have blood pressure taken as well.
Avatar f tn I find that a whole pill will knock me on my ars. Sometimes a tiny little piece will be enough to help with withdrawal symptoms. Keep up the good work.
10047460 tn?1407438406 Wow Jeni I'm not sure. The only time I took Clonidine was for my high blood pressure. I've heard that Clonidine helps with a lot of symptoms of withdrawal including cravings. My doctor gave me Zofran 8 mg for nausea. It worked really well. Sorry I can't be of more help. Hang on for a while.

Avatar f tn Hi there, I am tapering down from methadone, was at 130mgs two years ago, and am currently at 41mgs, now tapering 2mg /week. I am already starting to get withdrawal symptoms which surprises me as this is not really a small dose. I am going hot and cold and getting hot flashes and really nauseous. My methadone doctor told me that clonidine will help these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it. I was wondering if I should start taking it, I am so uncomfortable.
877402 tn?1241569071 It activates the same opioid receptors as narcotics, effectively eliminating withdrawal symptoms. Providing the correct dose of methadone prevents opioid withdrawal symptoms and eases drug craving but it does not provide the euphoria. The dose can be slowly tapered off, freeing the person from physical dependence without withdrawal symptoms. Methadone is the most effective known treatment for narcotic addiction.
Avatar f tn you will have to taper , from the clonidine, it can only help with some of the withdrawl symptoms..... it will not make them all go away .... theach you have been going threw this for a while have you thought about a program , not everyone can do it on there own you seem to be really struggling with this . have you considered sub ........ I recall setting you up a taper at one point ......
Avatar n tn Hi. She needs to do this NOW before the addiction gets any worse. I was up to around 30 or more of those 10mg a day and right now I'm in rehab. You need to get her Clonidine for the withdrawl symptoms. Thats what they give you in rehab. Its only a blood pressure medication but has be found to also relieve symptoms of opiate WD's. I'm telling you I tried to detox from the pain pills at home MANY times and failed every time. The WD's are HORRIBLE.
Avatar f tn hi.....i have never used clonidine but it's suppose to be for high BP and also can be used for anxiety from what i've read. I am on a diff med for high BP. Good luck and hope it works for you! i've read that it helps alot of people calm down thru WDs.
Avatar f tn I take clonidine and it helps alot with my withdraws!
Avatar n tn Can i take both valium and clonidine at the same time to help with my withdrawal symptoms. The last time I went through this my body was so extremely uncomfortable. I had to keep clinching my muscles every time i started to relax and didnt sleep for 4 days. It ultimately let to a failed clod turkey attempt. Thanks so much everybody and i really hope i can get through it this time......
Avatar f tn second, my doctor prescribed two clonidine patches for me for any withdrawl symptoms. What do these do ? my doc said it woud basically knock me out...love that of course... but, i am hesitant because i had never heard of it... i know it is a little strange for a prescription lover to be afraid of a new drug...weird. but, i would like to hear about some experiences with people who have tried it before. Thank you so much.
Avatar f tn Clonidine is a medication that is generally used to ease the symptoms of opioid withdrawal. To be honest, though, clonidine is only slightly helpful, and comes with its own side effects like sedation, dry mouth, fatigue, and dizziness. Opioid withdrawal can be very severe in people taking high-potency opioids like heroin, fentanyl, or oxycodone-- so severe that people generally cannot even walk during the first week, and the legs are kicking uncontrollably.
Avatar f tn Has anyone used prednisone to lessen methadone or other opiate withdrawal symptoms?
Avatar n tn s, your blood pressure tends to rise and you get uncomfortable symptoms, and the clonidine helps your blood pressure return to normal....only thing to watch out for is if your blood pressure is NOT that high, because then the clonidine can make you very dizzy, lightheaded and woozy....for some, it makes them very tired, which can be a good thing for sleep, if you're also having difficulties with that....otherwise, i'd stay away from topomax or ultram....hope that helps a bit....
Avatar f tn urs I'm 72 hours off suboxone and feeling horrible thought after 3 days I would be feeling better, ok now when the Dr gave me suboxone she also gave me clonidine I haven't taken any my question is can I take one just to get some kind of rest?? Will it harm my baby if I take just one?? If I'm feeling this bad what is my baby going through?? I'm scared, confused, nervous! I don't know what to do should I go back on suboxone??
Avatar f tn I guess my question is, how has everyone used clonidine in withdrawal and is it a bad idea to be taking it with the percocet? It certainly is making me feel worse and is making me feel the withdrawal symptoms almost and Im wasting the percocet since it is having no effect. I am just really scared and dont know where to turn. I am unemployed and need to be looking for a job and with how awful I am feeling physically I just dont know where to turn.
Avatar f tn Hi there- it's too bad these situations aren't taken on a case by case basis. She's not on Methadone for addiction! What will they give her now for pain? What is the medicine that begins with a "B"? She's not taking anything she hasn't had before except for the B medicine so it would be nice to know what that is. Clonidine is not klonipin. It's a fairly benign drug used for high BP and for withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar f tn Tues will take lase clonidine pill then that eve switch to clonidine patch. Next day stop all methadone. Dr said she will call me everyday will increase clonidine patch continue to use Valium for anxiety and tramadol if needed. I am pretty nervous cause I am doing this alone at home what do you think?
Avatar f tn t know about not experiencing any withdrawal symptoms but they definitely make a difference. Clonodine is actually a blood pressure med that helps during withdrawals because of the elevated heart rate associated with withdrawals. It does seem to help other symptoms also such as hot/cold flashes, insomnia, creepy crawlies, and just overall makes you feel a bit better. Do be careful because since it is a blood pressure medication it can potentially cause some problems.
Avatar n tn does clonidine in combination with ultram, help the severe withdrawal from opana?
Avatar m tn t a miracle drug that will eliminate your withdrawl symptoms. Have you looked up the thomas recipe? That seems to help. Flushing the system with water, and as much as it's dreaded.....exercise DOES help. I know I've heard that clonidine helps a bit for some people as well but you have to be careful with that one. Im sure more help is coming soon.
Avatar f tn I know that several people have told me about how well Clonidine works for withdrawal symptoms. I am an addict, and I need instant gratification. I want to know what it does for the anxiety; that "crawling out of your skin" feeling. Anyone who has used it, please share!
