Avatar f tn In every story i have read about Clonidine being used for withdraw, the addict was only prescribed .1mg twice or three times a day. I was prescribed 15- .1mg Clonidine every 12hrs and 15- .25mg Xanax every 6hrs as needed. It was a tremendous help as far as the anxiety goes. I'd been through withdraws MANY times, and i really feel like these were a huge help in getting me through that first week. I wish i had a few more Xanax, but i made it without. I agree with bmdad...

Avatar n tn klonopin wasnt prescribed to be but i only took it for a couple months so i think ill be ok todays the end of day two and i feel alright just anxious, jittery, and having alot of aches. really what im wondering is if clonidine will help with benzo withdraw at all or if im just wasting my time......
774059 tn?1235681948 I was prescribed Clonidine for my Fentanyl patch WD symptoms. I think it helped me a little through the first symptoms, but it was a painfull process. I don't think you can ever take all the pain out of WD; it is inevitable. I was told to take it at night, but found it was actually keeping me awake. One of the side effects is insomnia, which is one of the last things I need, so I stopped taking it after a couple of weeks.

Avatar n tn What are some remodies for making the withdraw symptoms not so horrible. Like direah, vomiting, being sore, not sleeping, ect.
Avatar m tn enybody got eny feed back clonidine it was given to me to help with withdraw from oxi and its not doing enygood going through hell right now I have about 7 days
880900 tn?1467270141 WIkipedia says clonidine is good for reducing sweats and general "unease", but the patient must withdraw carefully from it too, in order to avoid rebound hypertension. Has anyone had experience with this? Did you experience the rebound hypertension after using clonidine? I'm considering asking my doctor for this drug because I'm still experiencing w/d symptoms after 2 weeks w/d. I've not slept for four days, too. Thanks for your help.
Avatar m tn I'm 56y/o with high bp. It was close to 200/110 before mess. They put me on a bunch of different pills I've had adverse reactions to everything. A few days ago I was on .6mg clonodine and 40mg lisinopril. (Sorry spelling). I've been taking clonodine since the end of October, two weeks ago dr bumped me up to .3mg in morning, .3mg at night(clonodine).
Avatar n tn It normally takes about 5-7 days for the physical withdraw, with day 3 and 4 being the worst. But the mental withdraw can last much longer...varies depending on the individual! Hang in there...you will soon see the light at the end of the tunnel!
Avatar m tn Went through detox in hospital for 5 weeks and now I am an outpatient and began with 12 mg of subutex and now down to 1 1/2 mg. I tried to go to 1 mg but started withdraw so went back to 1 1/2 mg. It has been 15 months getting down to 1 1/2 mg. The doctors at the hospital where pleased with my progress and attitude but told me it would be difficult to get off the subutex because of the years on the prescription drugs.
Avatar m tn The xanax I took every 6 hours also, but alternated the times with clonidine so I was taking something every 3 hours while I was awake. So, 6am clonidine, 9am xanax, 12 clonidine, 3pm xanax.....etc. After the 3 days, I only took the clonidine every 12 hours if i needed it. by day 5 I didn't need anything. Taking a good multivitamin will help with the leg cramps as well as eating bananas for extra potassium. The first 3-4 days are the worst.
135222 tn?1210432488 With the depressive qualities of methadone combined with clonidine is it possible that your respiration and blood pressure could get dangerously low? I am starting to taper down but dont want to use the patch until I am feeling withdrawal symptoms. I am on 50mg a day and going down by 2.5mgs every two weeks. I am on day 3 and feel fine, so I dont feel it is necessary especially since I am still getting a pretty good buzz even at 47.5 mgs.
1032898 tn?1258598707 I've been on pain medication for several years, my doc is now cutting me off. I'm scared to death about the withdraws. I've been told to take clonidine to help with the symptoms, not sure if that is the trick. I also have zanaxx and sleeping meds also. I've called my doc to ask for more meds and to let him know about the withdraw symptom's I've had so far.
Avatar f tn I suffer from anxiety since a kid and have taken meds since just to function but this anxiety crap is not easing up with clonidine .1 break in half in am and pm. I woke up in sweats and shaking this morning. I left the doctors office full of inspiration and hope to be wanting to dig a hole and jump in. I've been through surgeries and a severely abusive ex husband and that's a cake walk compared to this weaning.
Avatar n tn wondering if clonidine will help with my benzo withdraw symptoms? ive been taking 6 mgs of klonopin for three months...if anyone has used it or has any info id appresiate it .....
Avatar m tn You could call the dr office and ask them to prescribe Clonidine for you. It is a blood pressure med that helps with opiate WD. Look up the Thomas Recipe under Most Viewed Health Pages bottom right hand corner of this page. You can ask dr for the benzos if you want and buy the rest at the pharmacy/health food store. What you are experiencing is normal. We have all been thru it. It should last 3 - 5 days. Getting the items I suggested will help. Good luck.
Avatar f tn My Dr says only withdraw you have is the pain comes back. I believe that helped me go through the wds. It is a short acting med, that why you have to take 2or 3 times a day to keep enough in your body. good luck and pryaers to you.
Avatar n tn understand what your going through, I really believe with methadone withdrawals the answer is time, but theirs a few things one can do to make themselves more comfortable, such as warmbaths, clonidine, melatonin for sleep, taking vitamins, eating healthy, & having a positve attitude. Also taking street methadone will only prolong the process of detoxification.
Avatar n tn d like to stop and would like to know how intense of withdraw symptoms I should expect if I quit cold turkey. I've done research on the web but haven't come up with any conclusive answers. thanks!
Avatar n tn I've heard that you must be in day 3 of withdraw before the first dose of suboxone can be taken ? is this true? I am presently on methadone, although in the past it has help keep me off drugs for 20 years, Ive relapsed and it is not working for me. So I am using both methadone and herion. Will suboxone work for me ??
Avatar f tn I went off cold turkey and most of the withdraw symptoms I have made it through okay. What I am experiencing is a non stop stomach ache. I have no appetite and I have to force myself to drink fluids, like koolaide, Gatorade, and water because I always feel full. This has been going on now for over a week straight and is driving me crazy.
Avatar f tn Take around 240 mg of roxycodone per day,is it ok to use gabapentin n clonidine while tapering to help with withdrawal
Avatar n tn I'm currently suffering from withdraw symptoms after taking suboxone for the past 3 years. I've taken 4mg daily and am having a difficult time. I became addicted to percs at 40 years old (I'm 45 now) after a series of operations....never took a pain pill until then. My question is....How long will I feel like ****? My wife is supportive and to my disbelief, still loves me even though I've lied to her over the past year...
Avatar m tn Still not much for sleep. I try to get to bed by 10, but usually up by 2:30-3 a.m. I don't notice rls, but my wife says she does. I have walked, rode bikes, been in sun, added protein, hydrated, + 50yr. old vitamins daily. It is very hard to hear my 5 year old girl say "why does daddy have no energy"? My dr. has continued the alprazolam and clonidine. Could that be making it worse?
Avatar m tn Hi, I understand how you're feeling right now. Just 7 days ago, I was taking 8 Norco plus 40 mg of Oxycontin a day. I've been going thru withdrawals for the past 7 days, but I started feeling better on Day 3. A lot of people say that's the worst day, but it was different for me...days 1 & 2 were the worst. I think a lot of it had to do with me making myself eat at least 2 healthy meals a day & not vomitting. You're not gonna have an appetite, but MAKE yourself eat...
