656243 tn?1231288052 I just wanted to say that my psychiatrist just prescribed clonidine for anxiety. I am on Klonopin also. I couldn't find much info on using clonidine for anxiety, but at least now I know it's been prescribed for other people with anxiety too. I do NOT have high blood pressure.
441267 tn?1211687001 Ive done a tone of research on clonidine and it has many uses it is a great drug for opiate withdrawl. I am taking this medication currently and loving it. I take 0.1mg every 12 hours at this point. I was taking it every 6 hours on days 2-4. The max dose for an average person is 0.2mg every 8 hours. I had this discusion with my MD today and as long as when you stand up you dont feel lightheaded and dizzy you sould be fine.

Avatar m tn He is now in a psych unit and now taking clonidine and lorazepam, we hope that this combination will work for him coz, we, the family, are already suffering from his condition. Does the benefit outweighs the risk in trying prozac for an elderly patient? and does clonidine better in teating deppression?
Avatar n tn my son takes clonidine, he has adhd and the drugs he takes to treat the adhd stop him sleeping so he takes the clonidine for that. didnt know it could be used to help with w/d's, apparently clonidine started life as a treatment for high blood pressure but now has many uses. dont know if there are w/d's from clonidine but my sons doc told us never to take him straight of it because it would cause his blood pressure to rocket.
Avatar n tn My main concern now is that they (his doctor and mother) have elevated his drug regimine to include 3 drugs that have known interactions with each other, 1 (Concerta) that is known to potentially cause sudden death, and 2 (Clonidine and Zolpidem) that are not recommended for children. Although Strattera does have some potential side effects, I believe it is by far the safest.
4522800 tn?1470325834 I would like to tell you the benefits of that plain little ole bottle of 3% peroxide you can get for under a $1.00. What does bleach cost? My husband has been in the medical field for over 36 yrs, and most doctors do not tell you about peroxide. Have you ever smelled bleach in a doctors office?? NO!!! Why? Because it smells, and it is not healthy! Ask the nurses who work in the Drs offices, and ask them if they use bleach? Did you also know bleach was invented in the late 40's?
Avatar f tn anyone had experience taking clonidine for sleep issues? i have high blood pressure (and clonidine is a blood pressure med), but my doctor is mainly prescribing it for me as a SLEEP AID to try to keep me off of the benzos for sleep purposes (which have always worked so well for me!)....i'm curious about two things though.....one, how much has anyone taken strictly for sleep purposes? and two, have you had ANY problems stopping it if you want/need to?
Avatar f tn Kids at school are beginning to notice and are asking her about it. I have been given a prescription for Clonidine. Has anyone tried Clonidine? Was the Clonidine successful? What side effects were seen?
401554 tn?1270213756 For the last 5 yrs I've been taken the clonidine patch for high BP, no side effects, but the PVC's are still there off and on.
Avatar f tn I am taking clonidine for my Subutex withdrawal. It has definetly helped with the anxious creepy crawly feeling. It also helped with hot flashes. I wasn't given any info on not to mix it with pain meds, but you may want to call you doctor to find out. Or even a pharmacist might be able to tell. good luck!
3588173 tn?1357317184 My daughter was 6lb 11oz at birth and wore newborn diapers for about a month. For the newborn size I prefer huggies because they have a cut out in them for the umbilical cord. I then went to pampers swaddlers for size 1 which fits 8-14lbs and she was in those till about 3 months. Then on to size 2 swaddlers till she was 6 months. She will be 1 on the 26th and is still in size 3 with pampers cruisers. If I buy target or Walmart brand I have to get her size 4. I really hope this helps you!
Avatar m tn 1mg at 10am, 4 pm since i started and trazodone 100mg at night for sleep... anyone have experience with these? ive heard clonidine if you just stop taking it it can spike your blood pressure... and trazodone is addictive? i dunno.... anyway any comments would help.. i was gonna start today by reducing the trazodone in half and tomorrow cut back to just one clonidine a day for 3 more days... sound alright?
Avatar m tn This type of transmission is more a risk for young children whos immune systems are not fully developed but for adults very unlikely any transmission would occur. From the ipod, to the hands then to the gums wouldnt happen. The virus is fragile and would not survive the journey.
1335947 tn?1275685447 Its for high blood pressure, they have also used it for insomnia, and adhd in children, dosing for wd's are usually .4mgs .. I have tried it.. It will help with the chills, watery eyes, and runny nose.. It wont help with the cramps!!! Nor the lower back pain!!! It also gives you dry mouth. I could fall asleep for a lil bit, but would wake back up very uncomfortable!! I don't know how it works for others though. Read up on it!! When they gave it to me, I googled it!!!
237152 tn?1206651036 Congrats on the 3 days! You're over the worst (in my opinion). I would take the clonidine if you try for a hour or two and really can't get to sleep without it. Or you could take half. Dont be too hard on yourself, you are doing great!
Avatar f tn mutlivitamins and still prozac which is cut down from 10mg to 5mg to wean him off, he was on concerta 36mg for adhd, clonidine .1mg to help with sleep and prozac10mg to combat severe side effects, then after starting prozac. he was chewing on the inside of his lower lip so bad, 2 weeks later and he now has two scars..
Avatar f tn My three year old son drinks a lot, uses the restroom quite frequently, and says he's really tired a lot here recently. What is a normal blood sugar for someone his age? And could he possibly have diabetes? He has a family history of both type 1 & 2 diabetes on both sides. He isn't losing any weight and plays as normal.
4605616 tn?1362003158 Clonidine is an anti-hypertensive med that is NOT "addicting". That being said, after being on it for a few weeks, it's recommended that it be weaned, due to rebound hypertension issues. Klonopin (or Clonazepam) is a benzodiazepine, (anti-anxiety medication) that can be habit-forming. These two meds gets mixed up a lot.
Avatar m tn As mentioned above it was first prescribed for epilepsy and is now often prescribed for neuropathic pain. There are many off label uses it is sometimes prescribed for. Someone just posted the other day that their doctor prescribed it exclusively for opiate withdrawals. That was the first time I had ever heard of it prescribed just for that. Although it doesn't take all the symptoms away I do agree that it helps some.
Avatar f tn Hi, I've been on pain meds for 15 years. I really have pain issue's, but realize they've become worse. because of medication addiction. (bodies use to always being on meds ) I really don't know what my real pain level is anymore. I know it's there, feel my RA and many other nerve issue's. I can't take it anymore i live in Florida, so all i do is worry i won't get my meds. because the drug stores don't have them lots of problems here .
1909286 tn?1379435137 Hi Teri I take clonidine for bp If you already have low bp I would speak with your Dr. as it works well for lowering it. how it works it helps with shaking it calms us and takes a lil of the edge off the wd They say it helps with sleep It may but not in acute wd but it does have it's uses It has been used for decades as a aid for detox.. are you getting ready to jump ? anyway Please speak with your Dr. as you said your bp is on the low side.. Take care.
Avatar m tn I went to see my doc and he wants me to continue taking the conidine and ativan but to reduce the clonidine to .1 for two days, then 05 for a day then stop it. He advised just to take the avtivan at night until I can fall alseep on my own. He also gave me some roxicet and told me to take 3 today, 2 tomorrow and one the next day. He claims this will help me with cravings until I get into rehab where I can get something tradition for the craving...I start rehab on Monday and it lasts 5 weeks.....
Avatar m tn I would speak to your doctor who prescribed the suboxone first. Clonidine has many uses, mild sedative is one, but you have to watch your blood pressure as well. Be careful.
Avatar m tn I think the world would disagree with you. The only people claiming it is not addictive are those prescribing it for children with ADD/ADHD. There are safer ways to treat this ailment.
687098 tn?1240889420 Not every child can tolerate stimulants, but it sounds like you have not tried this course yet. I have worked with children who present with more severe behavior problems who were prescribed risperdal or clonidine, so it may be useful to you to ask your physician why he/she has selected that drug in particular for your son. Psychological testing may be useful in determining to what extent your son has difficulty thinking clearly, and can inform medication choices.
