Avatar n tn does clonidine in combination with ultram, help the severe withdrawal from opana?
Avatar m tn anyone have any info on using Clonidine .1 mg for opiate withdrawal systems? Suppose to be a high blood pressure medication, but says it can be used for withdrawal systems too? wondering if it really works?
Avatar f tn Clonidine, while having opiate-like effects in reversing several aspects of opiate withdrawal, is not an opiate and is therefore not subject to the burdensome regulatory CONTROLS that have been placed on the use of opioids. Clonidine has its most demonstrable effects on autonomic elements of opioid withdrawal: sweating, gastrointestinal complaints (cramps, diarrhea, nausea), and elevated blood pressure.
Avatar f tn I guess my question is, how has everyone used clonidine in withdrawal and is it a bad idea to be taking it with the percocet? It certainly is making me feel worse and is making me feel the withdrawal symptoms almost and Im wasting the percocet since it is having no effect. I am just really scared and dont know where to turn. I am unemployed and need to be looking for a job and with how awful I am feeling physically I just dont know where to turn.
Avatar m tn i feel for you, man. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) - check Immodium or equivalent caplets (contains an unscheduled opiate, Loperamide, that does not cross the blood-brain barrier, i.e. won't get you high) but may help trick the opiate receptors in your intestines into 'believing' that you took something that will make you better. at the very least it will help with the 'runs'. if you only have a couple, i would hold off on the valium until you REALLY need it.
Avatar f tn Has anyone used prednisone to lessen methadone or other opiate withdrawal symptoms?
1818670 tn?1324702522 Hi - I have taken Clonidine for opiate withdrawal and have taken it on and off for depression. It is a blood pressure medication. It has helped alot with opiate withdrawal. What drug did you used to take? I don't know if Clonidine is a huge help for anxiety. Usually Klonipin is prescribed but that can be addictive. Also .1 milligram is low. I take .3 mg but only at night. I break it in half if I take during the day. It can make you sleepy. Hope that helps.
Avatar f tn I want to ask my doc for the vicoden but only if it will help. I use a general practiction who said the wothdrawl wouldnt be that bad. any advise would help. I has been 26 hrs since my last dose.
7857462 tn?1394795639 The pain does increase during withdrawal. Your brain changes during opiate use. Your brain will need to produce its own natural chemistry (dopamine, serotonin, endrophins) again. This will take time. Don't fear the withdrawals. Treat the symptoms. Pray, pray, pray. Listen to Christian music. Keep yourself busy. Try to move around as much as possible. Keep the faith.
Avatar n tn Does clonidine help with the pain of opiate withdrawal? How does it help, what w/d symptoms does it alleviate, and are there bad side effects or withdrawal symptoms from the clonidine itself if taken for 5 days or so? Has anyone tried it?
Avatar m tn I really want to get off them, but I am scared that I will be in pain. I am tired of being dependent on them. I am currently out and have to wait until 3/28 to get a refill. I was wondering if Propranolol would help me with the withdrawal symptoms to I can make it through work days. I just want this feeling to go away, I am currently taking some Gabapentin that I had from years ago, but it is not enough to take all WD symptoms away. I am embarrassed to ask my doctor for help during this time.
Avatar f tn I spent the last 30 in rehab because I could not handle the withdrawals from the Valium and OxyContin. They gave me clonidine every 4 hours in August , sept 26 released 2days ago, at the rehab they lowered it to every 12hours. Then I find that all 3 of those drugs have withdrawal symtoms of anxiety and depression. I haven't slept more than 2hours in a month . I went 9 days in a row with no sleep.
Avatar n tn Sorry wrong post- i meant to say clonidine is used in most detoxes around the country for opiates. it helps alot with the symphatic nervous system problems opiate withdrawal presents. it helps with the sweating, hot/cold flashes, blood pressure fluctuations, and insomnia.
Avatar f tn Yikes Colleen- That is a crazy jump. No wonder you feel like you are dying. Opiate detox is he*& for sure but jumping off 50 mcg of Fentanyl is VERY extreme. Do you have breakthrough meds left? You need to switch to an oral opiate and wean to a jumpable place. I did this- ended up jumping off of 100 mg of oxy and it was frigging awful but I lived to tell the tale and am so happy I did. Really, if you can't get to your doctor go back to the ER and tell them what is up.
Avatar f tn I have been taking pain meds for almost 10 due to a doctor puncturing my intestine during a lapscope resulting in 2 major surgeries each year to remove portions of my intestines. I had 2 staph infections which reslted in major surgeries, not to mention chronic migraines and endometriosis. All of this happened just because a doctor did not want to open me up to fix the hole he put in my intestines when he put the lap in. Instead he let me go home and develope peritionitis.
6815927 tn?1395511425 Thank you for your response. Sounds like we have a lot of meds in common. Do you use the clonidine for pain control or opiate withdrawal? Same with the gabepentin? Do you think one works better than the other?
Avatar f tn Today, I was curious about how long does it take to detox and didnt see any comments about Clonidine. If anyone can get your hands on it, it is a life-saver during the withdrawal period. Last time I only took it a few days. a week tops. I would pop one every now and then if I felt jittery. It is not a controlled substance and there is NO risk for addicton to this medication (Clonidine). I am suprised it is not more widely discussed or known about.
Avatar m tn anyone know how long the clonidine patch takes to start working, I started using it last night for opiate withdrawls. 6 yrs. of use and it is time to end this vicious cycle; i was taking 60 mg. methadone for a back problem a day. today is day 2.
Avatar f tn ve had to hide it from friends and family because I knew my regular usage would become a quick cause for concern (rightly so) and have done everything in my power to keep it from them. I know what the general withdrawal will entail, I've done it before, but this recent stint with the opiates has been a little harder than the rest. I tried oxy a few times, 5 or so, and I honestly didn't like how it just zombified me, as opposed to 2 regular 7.5 hydros would make me chatty and happy.
1549092 tn?1297046311 Hey there, Did you ask your doctor about Suboxone? It has helped me tremendously in the past during active physical wds, and I'm back on it now for PAWS that I was experiencing. I also go to one on one counseling which is helping very much. There's a lot of differing opinions about this medication, but just get yourself educated on it and see if it's something you'd want to do.
320944 tn?1245966599 At the dose you were on, it could have been AWFUL to withdrawal from without some clonidine. I had that too, and it really helps. BP going up during tram WD happens almost every time. Congrats on your clean time! Get into some therapy or meetings so you never have to do this again!
544292 tn?1268882668 The length of time withdrawal symptoms occur can range from a couple of days to weeks depending on how high your dose was and how long you were on the drug. Withdrawal symptoms can be reduced by discontinuing use of the drug slowly (i.e., gradually reducing the daily dose). Tramadol is more complex than other opiate and opiate-like medications because it also appears to have actions on the GABAergic, noradrenergic, and serotonergic systems in the brain.
590280 tn?1310087366 also if your eally want tog et off with trying youre way with darvocet, definitely tellt he doctor that you need clonidine. it is by far the best tool in opiate withdrawal medication. it helps with the sweats, chills, blood predssure spikes, the insomnia, and some oft he muscle carmps and fatigue. its it def. in home detox methods.
